  • I'm moving there in two weeks.

  • The idea and potential is great but like most places people abuse what they have and all it takes is one small miscalculation for someone to end up dead or seriously injured.............and that is unnecessary

  • Wow, there is a European city in the US!? =D

  • @Zoza15 Also you are wasting your own time posting back. Stop posting back and maybe you wouldn't get outpointed every time.

  • @alex2974 Outpointed :P, it was rather more your idiotic points by saying the quality dutch bikes are over 3000 dollars is ok :P.. Dumbass Americans with their redicious Bike prices..

But your right!, im wasting my time on you, with that being said is that you try to make your last point making yourself awesome..

So Go ahead, make your last point, and lets see who's the childish one in here.

  • @Zoza15 Obviously not. It's called not giving a shit. Pretty much shows you are a child somewhere who needs help.

  • @Zoza15 Yeah, I'm pretty sure you do. Using it against me is your point and I destroyed it. Umad?

  • @Zoza15 Also, I used to do pro track biking, and fixed bikes when I was younger, until you stop being a arrogant little shit child, you would realize the work being put into these.

  • @alex2974 Wauw, applaus fixing bikes to afford a couple bucks..

But then again the bikes with the same shape of a dutch bike should not be 3000 dollars..

Thats fucking expensive and idiotic pricing you fucking retard, i can get these bikes for 120 euro alone or even cheaper.. And with the same quality.

And i fix my own bike as well, so whats your point you shitface!..

  • @Zoza15 umad?

  • Hey what happened to all those homeless zombies down there? Did someone get a huge vacuum or broom to clean them up for the video shoot? I have to say my short 6 month stay in Portland was disappointing for the potential there would be awesome. Forest Park is such an amazing place but with a limited "singletrack system"in effect it is inevitable there would be conflict of interest. The Springwater Corridor is fun a shame too many people always in a race. I had fun there though :)

  • Stupid comparison. Denmark and the Netherlands, wealthy social welfare states that have been funding bike projects for decades, not because they're so sustainable, but because they HAVE TO. It's easy to proclaim Copenhagen to be more bike friendly, a completely FLAT city which gets tons of funding from the federal government. Portland's bike culture is genuine and grassroots, and it's more impressive to see a US city bee as bike friendly as a European city, given the little support in the US.

  • Mingus!

  • PPPPFFFF bike friendly?. Come and see how that looks in my Country... HOLLAND The best bike capitol youve ever known..

  • What about Copenhagen? Anyway, this video is just about the best bike city in the States, not the world.

  • @tourdefrance NO SHIT.

  • If you go to some places like fairs or the zoo on the train, you get $2 off. If you drive it costs $2 more. if you show up with out any proof of how you got there it's $10, not $8 or $12.

  • i would say minneapolis rules over portland in terms of bike city usa, but i am biased--go bike cities! soon we'll take over the world, muh, ah, ha, ah, ha, ha, ah!

  • Nope,No way.

  • No wayyyyy Portland is the winnerrr :)

  • Portland is going in a great direction.. The USA is still years behind Europe but at least one major city see's the light of the future.. Keep it up P-Town!

  • That is a exeeding thing in the usa?

    bicycle lanes?

I mean in Germany is that normal..

    And trees in the city?

I think thats a must for every city...

American cities are concrete hell Portland is just a little different.

  • MrWorld16: Portland is very different. And I find your comments ironic, given the fact that the most awful urban mess I've ever seen (and I've traveled a lot) is the Ruhr in your own country. Nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to spend the day there...

  • There is so much history in this place .I dont know but industrialization in Europe do you remember the school lessons? Our ancestors came for the brown coal and built all these cities from nothing to one of the largest urban centers in Europe.

.you can not compare the Rhurpott with ONE city in America, Rhurgebiet is among few things a exception.

  • al-jazeera?

  • i love portland but god bikers are so fucking annoying, just be driving along than they go right in front of you than you hit them and they try to sue!

  • Of course ANYONE would sue you if you hit them with your car.

  • most are stupid as hell though, just drive around in the middle of the street than get hit and wonder why

  • Technically, bikes are vehicles too, subject to the same rules of the road that cars must adhere to. Some bicyclists can be reckless, sure, but so can some bikers, pedestrians and other motorists, and if you hit them, they sure the hell would take you to court (and bikers especially have a code about being "hit", one I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of.) From a cyclists perspective, most drivers can be inconsiderate dicks. So it goes.

  • yes but pedestrians are stupid too. i went up to seattle and god they just fuckin jump right in front of your car! the right of way does not mean you can't get hit. there's a common sense aspect for both bikers and pedestrians, but in portland. bikers take it for stupidity

  • I always let the cars pass and never ride in front of them. It's curtious for bicyclists to ride along side of the road, plus all of the oil from cars are in the middle of the road and real slippery- not a good idea to ride in the middle road people!!!!!!

  • You're not entitled to hit people just because you're in a car. Learn how to drive and share the road. Single occupancy cars should have the lowest priority in order for our cities to be livable.

  • agree- I always let the cars go first, assuming they don't see me- wish all that drove cars gave up the driving for bicycles instead

  • @kimmarie801 actually, often taking the lane is by far the safest means of riding on the road. there is not always a safe shoulder. legally it is recommended in those cases. what I would really like to see is true solid bike infrastructure that does not require riding in the road at all, like cycle tracks next to parked cars..

  • word

  • yeay! i just started bike commuting (in Beaverton.) in downtown, are there all bike lanes, or can you go on only certain streets; and bridges?

  • Portland is rad. I wish there were other places like it - i love that everyone still rides even though it rains.

  • Thanks, Schmoopie

  • Good Vid! I've been really into biking this year. I rode over 2000 miles on my bike in Columbus.
