My main reason for liking Jarte is that you can set your own background color.

I use gray instead of white. I find it easier on the eyes when I'm not staring at Arctic White all the time.

Just my preference.

A great application and well worth looking into.

another good alternative to MS Word is Open Office, it's actually just like MS Office, but it's free (MS Office didn't come on my computer). They have an excel alternative with it too.
