I know what it is too. People suck. Most of the people you meet are probably very fine people. Some beat their kids and cheat on their taxes, but it doesn't take a large segment of the population to be one of these pieces of subhuman excrement. If it's your mission in life to screw your fellow man, you're a piece of shit. It's that simple. I don't care whether you're building too much profit into a car that you're the salesman of at some sleazy dealer or swiping someone's tip off a table.
Bernie Madoff is a victim of a show trial and a scapegoat of a corrupt system. Like Russia's Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Mr. Madoff is a champion of human rights and democracy suffering as a political prisoner of the White House. Mr. Madoff's ordeal is a reminder of the darkest days of McCarthyist oppression of plurality and civil liberties.
Bernie Madoff did do a very valuable public service by showing just how incompetent government financial regulators are and that no investor should ever relax his due diligence assuming that he was covered by the regulators.
@averageworkinggal Comedy act? Hardly. Washington stooges like you are all over the net, paid pawns of a brutal regime that seeks to suppress human rights and democracy. It is just sad that humanistic heroes like Bernie Madoff and Mikhail Khodorkovsky are crushed by your system.
@averageworkinggal I am appalled but unsurprised by your ad hominem attacks and failure to understand the strong similarities in the cases of Mr Madoff and Mr Khodorkovsky. Your American nationalist perspective doesn't wash. Washington is rolling back any attempts at building genuine democracy. From lining the pockets of bankers with obscene bailouts to censoring the popular vote with the electoral college apparatus, the civilized world remains aghast at America's descent.
@averageworkinggal I understand that criticism is difficult for insular US nationalists to handle, but if making me into Russia's answer to Fox Mulder helps you feel better, go ahead. Wild theories make you feel better about yourself. Meanwhile, the rest of us remain concerned about America's slide. I hope you've been able to preserve your job as a WalMart greeter as America's economy sags.
@BernieMadoffCenter - If you're "concerned", you're not going to be taken seriously with a ridiculous analogy equating Bernie Madoff, was was just a common financial criminal, and Khodorkovsky, who is a political prisoner.
All this "media" bull shit is one GIANT psyop social engineering propaganda 'experiment' upon us all. Carefully designed & scripted to program & shape our worldview, tell us what to believe, what to think & what to buy. They "report" what crime syndicate oligarchs want us to believe. Keep us bickering, arguing, fighting among ourselves. As the criminals continue to scam, trick & defraud us, nothing changes.
We will NEVER get the truth from the media, they are part of it. The media is the weapon
Looks like Russian media is as bad as US media. This story is such a mind fuck. The guy is obviously not a conman. He told everyone exactly what he was doing. He's a mathamatician, a total nerd with no interest in personal gain. The investors didn't get paid because the government confiscated the money. The facts of the story are competely contrary to the incessant characterization of him as a sleazeball. Utter contempt for the viewers and blatant manipulation, just like the US.
C'mon serbfree, get on the Fractional Reserve Banking bandwagon already! It brings joy to shareholders the world over to profit from the interest earned on artificial, printed-up money.
IF con man does not teach the law enforcement how to catch, how can the old system and current criminal justice programs catch these new age criminals. Excellent saying, from a repented con-man, and pitiful to the current education system.
There's nothing that an audit of the Fed will come up with that's not already known out there in the financial press.
The Fed's balance sheet is published every week and is already audited by Deloitte & Touche.
What the GAO audit will do is increase the number of bank failures by causing runs on banks, needing a lender of last resort loan, by naked short sellers that kill the bank's stock price and investor panics that pull their capital.
New York state is the one doing the robbing and since Wall Street income is way down the tax receipts to NY state are way down and the state is near bankruptcy.
NY state was getting fat on taxing Wall Street and now the gravy train for the nanny state has collapsed.

@serbfree - There are bailout tracker websites out there and it's clear that only about $3T was actually "spent" and much of that was directly to taxpayers in the form of tax rebates and tax cuts.
Much of it were loans.Loans aren't bailouts.
Loans have to be paid back w/ interest.
Much of the $3T are FDIC costs which don't involve big Wall Street banks, since it's the cost of cleaning up small bank failures which is what FDIC does.
Much of it is Fannie & Freddie which is not Wall Street.
i think the number one lesson stupid people need to learn is, "there is no such thing as easy money", or a "free lunch".
u want to get money? work, invent something, or invest in the stock market.
i cant stand it when stupid slaves give others their hard earned money, sit on their arse, hope to get a few % in return every year, and then whine when it turns out to be a giant Ponzi scheme.
my advice is to always hold the power and money in your own hands, and not trust ANYONE but yourself.
This is why pyramid schemes need to cease, permanantly. Especially the one called a bank. With interest rates and fees, money will never be enough for the many, but instead cater to the few. The few get rich, and people abroad starve to death.
no balance it is just trying to make us all afraid of hmmm well when when some one took my money from through the internet the bank just gave it back all the times the police have stop me (for no reason) that is time im not going to get back, or when my account is placed on hold so the government can check my tax there is transactions that i then miss the governemet are the real criminals
Time to get a SAFE for all my money i dont trust a single bank now.
I think its time to built a house in a cave and farm my own animals and farm plants for food because if this happens to me i will have nothing but the clothes on my back.
I cant believe this world only relies on money in order to survive. Someday the economy might fail and we are all screwed.

@BernieMadoffCenter - "Washington" is Obama and I voted against Obama, so I'm definitely not his stooge.
You're clearly the "stooge."
The trial of Madoff was hardly a "show trial"
Madoff ran a "fund" that was a ponzi scheme and when the economy fell, the ponzi scheme was exposed. Madff was as guilty as it gets.
You must be a FSB disinformation stooge trying to smear "Open Mike" Khodorkovsky.
Open Mike was railroaded by Pootie-Poot because he was a
anti-'Putin System'-autocracy political rival.

@BernieMadoffCenter - you just proved that you're an FSB disinformation agent with that silly rant.
Madoff and Khodorkovsky have nothing in common.
The big bankers paid back all the "obscene bailout" TARP funds with interest.
The US has made a $14.6B profit on the "banker bailout" so far.
You're clearly not civilized since you're ignorant of the very real benefit against tyranny that the Electoral College provides.
It provides protection to states with small populations.
