I just got this recently, it started as a small fuzzy spot in the centre than it gradually got larger, when it was small I could not see things in the centre, then when it became larger things on side could not be seen. Really scary, second time this happened.

I get weird auras and then painful migraines, OR I get the blind spots (ophthalmic migraine) that gets bigger and bigger before going away but without pain. Even though it is frightening to be blind I'll take the ophthalmic migraine any day. Topamax only helps a little with the painful migraines and doesn't help the eyegraines at all.

I get one side of my vision blurred and fuzzy, afterwards a terrible headache then i feel sick like i will throw up afterwards and usually do. Is this regular migraines or could it be my vision?

i just had one now, i just ended up being really sensitive to light, everything appeared bright and my eyes hurt. at first i thought it was a precursor to an actual migraine but then i remembered that i get occular migraines as well.

I had an ocular migraine two days ago and never got a headache. I did however get a severe migraine last night behind my eyes. Could that happen two days after an ocular migraine?

00:40 thing: I had that (or very similar one) almost one year ago, can't remember if it was both eyes or just one, anyway of course it was scary and i panicked. It did last for about 20minutes.

I never had it again BUT i have almost daily "flashes" since then and the eye doctor don't say anything expect "everything is ok" so what could it be damn...

I don't usually have a headache before or after that time. My headaches can come at any time, not just that moment.

I am 53 & I experienced one last week. It scared the living daylights out of me! It started in the middle of my vision & rotated around & around .... all the while moving to the left & then starting again in the center. I t was just like a white neon like light, a bit like a cut glass or a biggish cut diamond that moved like a kaleidoscope but no color. but kind of like reflecting light. It went on for about 8 minutes & then I cried & it seemed to clear it .VERY SCARY.

I get ocular migraines but no headache just shimmering patterens across vision.

NOw I have a blurry coloured circle in the centre of mu vision which wont go away. I can see a coloured usually yellow circle all the time and even when I close my eyes but it's blue or white then. but it goes away in the dark at night . I am goign to the doctor tommorrow but I don't know what this is. I have never had it before and it's been there over a day now

I hate ocular migraines... Im 12 years old i have life to be wearing me out at the moment not these... I hate them everytime i have one a colourful zigzag aura is in my eye spreading round the periphery... then i have the WORST headache ever imaginable. i just sit down and do nothign watchign TV and try to ignore it... But i never can. All i want is 4 them TO piss off and leave me alone but they wont. If this carrys on i feel like i want to kill myself its so bad i also have aching arm for ever.

im 33,being dealing with symptoms since 17,finally after so many years looking for help i found a doctor who confirmed what i have ,i was even scam in buying bifocals that had no prescription in them,my vision 20/20 confirmed by this doctor yeasterday,im very happy since every doctor i went trhu though i was having a stroke due to the numbdess of my hands,arms,tongue and legs,and yes i do get the severe migraine 20 min after its over,the only thing that calms it down is fioricet

I get about 6-6 per year and have since I was 30 years old. So, for 20 years now. Once my eye doctor checked my eyes and explained what it was, I calmed down. Then attacks were not a long because I stopped stressing out about them. They average 20 minutes. Had one today on the highway at 8 a.m. Still had it when I arrived at work--practically blind in my left eye with that flashing bright, jagged lights, then the black orb, then, gone.

I t might be coincidence, but mine seem to get triggered by flashes of heat, such as one might experience opening a oven door, I'm a chef and I've experienced this about once a year since 1999, I don't get a headache, and it last about 20 minutes.

I am 11 years old. I had an ocular migraine today. I first had a zig zag like shaped pattern in my eye, then lost my sight in around half of my left eye. Then i had terribly nausea and vomiting, along with that i had a terrible throbbing head ache, and along the way my left arm felt tingly and became numb for around 20 minutes. Is this normal for an 11 year old like me? Because it was HORRIBLE!

@mileyfansinga These are apparently more common than most people realize. I had a similar migraine 3 years ago (I was a junior in high school). I've only had one since, and only soon afterwards.

Normal or not, if it's problematic, a doctor can prescribe medication to make the migraine more bearable and possibly less severe, or speed recovery. Yours sounds pretty severe.

It's also possible that something caused it--I think the two that I had were triggered by glimpsing at the sun.

@niceoboe OH YES!!! Exactly! I am always trying to hide my face from the sun. I am very sensitive with the sun. I am the only one in gym class who has to use my hand to cover my eyes from the sun, everyone thinks im weird.....

I have no pain but my vision gets blurs, I cant focus in one place and I sometimes see shapes with illuminating colors around it.(with my eyes closed) It usually lasts about 20 or 30 minutes then goes away

A couple of hours ago I was sitting at my desk watching videos. Then all of a sudden everything in my field of vision was all wavy looking (like looking through smoke or heat) and I was seeing neon colored lightning bolts and circles. This was in both eyes and I could see the colors with my eyes closed. There was no pain involved, but, I have had headaches on and off for weeks. I've never had anything that strange happen before! (I think I've only had something like this happen 4/5 times)

Part of the retina might be torn off by the departing vitreous body, known as a retinal detachment. This will often leak blood into the vitreous, which is seen by the patient as a sudden appearance of numerous small dots, moving across the whole field of vision. Retinal detachment requires immediate medical attention, as it can easily cause blindness. Consequently both the appearance of flashes and the sudden onset of numerous small floaters should be rapidly investigated by an eye care provider

Yesterday I bent over and when I stood up and looked in the mirror my left pupil was twice it's size and oblong, obstructing the blue part of my eye and reaching the white. There was no pain only blurry vision. Last week while sleeping I awoke with a stabbing pain in the left side of my head followed by a pain in my heart. I don't have insurance so didn't go to the doctor. I'm also very tired. Any ideas?

At first a week ago, they thought it was a retina detachment.

Now, seeing that my retina is fully intact and healthy, all they can think of is an Ocular Migraine.

I've had normal migraine in my head for the past 14 years (I'm 16).

But this is new and began with the peripheral flashing.

In most cases, I hear the ocular migraine lasts at most around 30 minutes.

Mine has been non-stop for 3 days..

I'm pretty scared.

I was told (and have researched) that migraine attacks are caused by vasodialation, not vasoconstriction. That is why normal headache medication (which cause vasodialtion to counter the vasoconstriction of the headache) actually make migraine attacks worse.

I only just discovered what they were called after 12 years of having them. I get the tunnel vision blur which moves to the side eventually and then disappears, with no headache or pain. Lasts about 15 mins normally give or take. Only happens a few times year. It's really nothing to worry about unless your driving but could be annoying if it happened during exams or an eyetest for a drivers licence renewal.

Im in the unfortunate 80% who get the headache with this, only whenever i get one, i always go dizzy and sick and there are like, silver lines flashing down my vision.

If i ever got a migraine during an exam or something, id be screwed. Ive come close to passing out from the dizziness before. Its downright annoying to say the least.

I love the fact you try to trigger another one of my migraines during the video. Anyway, this was really helpful, I'm 15 and started getting these migraines when I was 12. Unfortunately I'm part of the 80% who get the headaches. I'll follow all advice I have obtained thus far and see how my Migraines will evolve. I'm hoping they soon be a distant memory.

@ragingcluegoo no, I get one, zig-zag looking floater in the shape of a crescent moon, or a single bright circle in my vision. Like the flash from a camera, except burned into my vision. When it goes away, I get this dull, overbearing pain in the back of my head, followed by nausea.

But you only get it in one eye right? Magnesium deficiency can bring these on. I'd give you a link but doesnt allow it. I don't know if you've read about diet changes that you can make to help avoid them, but you probably eat fine. I don't really. I eat a lot of processed foods which I am gonna stop. I've just recently started taking magnesium pills and getting more exercise. So I hope changing my lifestyle will help. And I hope you can find a trend to help stop them awful things.

@ragingcluegoo no it's in both eyes :( It starts small, then gets brighter and brighter until I nearly go blind- my peripheral vision is then completely gone. I can't even make out someone's face who is right in front of me.

I live very close to the doc in this vid, I'm thinking about paying him a visit.

Not really. There are some medications that I guess can help but nothing that can prevent these from occuring.

I am in the lucky 20% that dont get the headache along with wild visuals, they used to scare the heck out of me and had the anxiety witch only made it worse, I'm 45 and first had one when i was32 maybe and now getting them again,i found out about a year what these are and now rarely get them

wow!!!! i think i have this. I am very worried about this. At first i thought that it could be that im loosing my vision. Then Anxiety and deression hit me. main anxiety problem is this. I dont know what to do. I get soo worried which then shoots my anxiety through the roof. The past two months of my life have been horrible. I have quit my job because of this and now stay home secluded from everyone. And im only 20 years old
