  • And the Andantes are singing their asses of in the background

  • Hear Ye ! The Angel's Bandleader. I am witness.

  • I swear I'll pay some nice PAYPAL for the instrumental of this heated funk. SKILLZ!!!!

  • Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • F*#%in JAM!

  • Hmmm.....I detect a little Ray Charles style in that opening electric harpsicord lick.

He really is a WONDER! Thanks for sharing a great song from ANOTHER AMERICAN MUSIC LEGEND!

  • Time to do the FOUR CORNERS.

  • @musicteachjw i feel ya...i can still do it....

  • THE BREAK DOWN IS WHAT GET'S ME. WOO BOY

  • i had forgotten about this song...i was around 6yrs old when this was released. i have tears in my eyes...

  • Such a wonderfully underrated song!

  • Love it :)

  • GOT DAMN

  • First thing I thought-before I saw any of the posts here was "listen to that bass player".

  • steve nailed this stepper, thanks for sharing

  • Another #1 hit for Stevie Wonder on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 177 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also went to #9 on the Top 40 charts. And to the wanna-be's of today: Take note; this is how it's done.

  • 1:55, amazing...

  • y'all know James is playing the upright on this. Not his electric.

  • shoo be doo be doo da day.

  • whats up h town stevies a genius mustafa

  • stevie could always deliver the goods, thanks

  • I can't say enough about this genius and I'm not a lone. God bless you because I am trulu blessed.

  • Great, great song! Thanks for posting.

  • This was the national anthem as far as I was concerned back when it was released. I am screamin right now. I totally love this song. Thanks for posting!!! !!! !!!

  • 0 dislikes! you rule Stevie!

  • I can feel the 1960's when I hear this song. Feelings I haven't had since then. 1968 was a tough year to live thru.

  • @illustrate100 You said so much in that short sentence. Thank you, you are so right!

  • people like him still alive (not to be rude), should release another song!

stop the things people call music now, the rap, the techno and the others. stevie please!

  • Another example why Jamerson was the MVP of Hitsville U.S.A.!

  • Gteat song. Thanks for the upload.

  • Just Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day ...Da-Day ...Da-Day!!!

    love this ONE!

  • Such a neat ditty of a song. Makes me wanna get up and dance. Stevie's voice hasn't changed too much since this recording. Go Stevie!

  • we don't need music like this to be manufactured today - they'd only mess it up. i can't listen to broadcasted music, can you? music died in 1983 - after a long, steady decline... coincidentally with James Jamerson's passing... had he lived, he'd probably have little to do... the only bright light was Stevie Ray Vaughan, but...

  • i don't listen to any new music - but i can smell it... anyway, i can listen to Misters Wonder & Jamerson anytime on CD - over and over for the next 20 yrs... all American entertainment is now controlled by an elite group - but they have no talent... one must make their own music or organize local events. if you look at statistics, musician's pay is lower than a Walmart greeter's salary... sales are at an all time low... music has become a hobby... entertain yourselves...

  • see kids, before hip hop you couldn't just say "I'm tappin' your miss"...you had to write a song...

  • Unfucking-real, man- listen to that rhythm track! Wow!

  • @Cantormatis : Yeap, I'm with you!!! What I like to do sometimes is switch the balance on my stereo to the one side that has only the bass, the bass drum, and the tamborine. For me, that really get's down with the "get down"! I call it "Southern Porch Funk" !

  • This song I grew up with, my greatest times in high school

  • I LOVE STEVIE HIS MUSIC SO AMAZING WHAT A GIFT .

  • I do not know what to say except, that this song is beautiful.

  • All this song does is swing...and jam....

  • Critics consider Stevie's work from the seventies as his "classic period." And I guess it was. But his first singles from the sixties will always be my favorites.

  • I shud sample this.

  • James Jamerson and the Funk Bros puttin it down in the Snakepit. Another day at the office......

  • Yes God broke the mold. So soulful....pure musical royalty and last of a kind. Start showing this man and all our great legends love, respect and appreciation everyday yall.

  • It doesn't get any better than this.

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • aahh...grew up listening to this 45 rpm, Stevie as a teen growing up

  • not bad....

  • @justray911BLOODY GREAT,

  • Happy Birthday #60, Stevie!

  • I prefer the version of La Bouche. Is very better.

  • i really like the drumbeats of this old music.

  • Wellthanks for the answer.

Only a few days ago I've got the original Stevie LP "For Once..." in mint quality! Do you want to know how I feel about it after so many years? Incredible. I have this record since 1970 but only as a german pressing - thanks for the black heritage of your country of beautiful soul music from Motown. My mind will cruising now again back to a time, when this kind of music was a passion and art...Love it still after 40 years.Never the crap of today comperes.

  • great song! my friends and I used this in a skateboard video we made when we were in highschool! haha so good!

  • this song has very soulful beginning.

  • this one just gets it, babe

  • A teenage Stevie Wonder doing one of my faves from the year i was born!!!!Man i bet Mom&Dad were gettin their groove on!!!!!Turbulent times of my birth but the best musc ever, including many white artists.

  • magical,haunting and perfect

  • When I was 15 I heard this song the very first time in Berlin in a pool from a transistor radio. I watched my first lady with golden blond long hair. It was summer and Stevie hit the charts with this tune. Now I'm 57 and it's like it was...great tune, I never became tired of hearing it for so long years and the bassline of J.J. still touches my heart . His singing brings back beautiful memories.Want to have music like this today...

  • @damngrooveman

I had a little transistor radio too! I used to listen to WSAI as a kid and they played a lot of Stevie's music! Those were definitely the good old days!

  • 1360 AM WSAI I could usually pick them up on my transistor radio when I was a young'un in Dayton Ohio in the late 60's early 70's. Thanks for the memories!

  • Every time I start to think I'm a good bass player I listen to James and hear how it's really done and how much I can still learn :-)

  • No doubt! He made it sound so effortless and yet so complicated at the same time. I've really never been one to hear bass until I started listening to Stevie's music, and learned how much of a difference it makes to the over all performance.

  • I remember being a kid when Motown was at its peak, even in my mom's station wagon with the 1 speaker in the dashboard the bass used to always stand out, lol...Always admired James' bass but only recently started trying to play some, humbling and educational at the same time! Thanks for posting

  • I was born in '77 and I love this music! The bass lines of Stevie's songs in this era of Motown were outstanding. J.J. was the best in the era;matched with Stevie's vocals, unbelievable combo!

  • @821977 Wow! So, you are a Disco baby.

    Cool!.

  • @ZGAZBass28 I totally get that! I am in the same boat, there is so much to learn from James 4 decades later!

  • @ZGAZBass28 know what u mean

  • I think Stevies Wonders version of this song is Amazing.!!! & I like Michaels Jacksons Verison too.there both great.(:

  • Stevie and James Jamerson - now that was inspiration in my youth in Washington D.C.. It was no woncer I wanted to be a soul band since I sang and played the saxophone. I certainly steered my group in that direction demanding more from all of us musically.

  • 1968... what a year! Best music came out that year on so many fronts: Motown, R&B, rock, soul, pop. History will look back and regard 1968 as a confluence of genius.

  • One of my Stevie Wonder favorites. Could listen to it forever.

  • michael jackson version sucks balls compared to this,

  • they ar different u cant just compare them...

michael was a kid when he sang this ..

  • i love stevie but michael jackson version was better :)

  • i love m j but.........stevie is brill.....ent

  • I could listen to this all day long. Would if it was possible. But stuff needs doing. dang.

  • This rules...swing it, Stevie!

Shoo Be Doo Bee Doo Be Doo Da Day!

  • Comment removed

  • @rhythmandblues1 oh yes shoo shoo stevie any time

  • I just listened to the Michael Jackson version of this and it was great, but I have to say this one is definately better!

  • I have not heard this song in a long time, Stevie is an amazing singer, this is fantastic arrangement, the Funk Brothers, James, Papa Zito, the Detroit Symphony are all in there just kicking down, the result is great music.

  • Holy Crap, what a bubbling little bass line!! Jamerson was at the top of his game when he laid down this track and probably with little effort. As a bassist, it's pure pleasure to reproduce those 16th-note bass fills. But NO ONE can play it like Jamerson.

  • listening to J Jamerson on this track is the closest I get to spiritual.

Melody, groove, effortlessly light yet rock solid. i've been listening to this track for years and it floors me every time. what a f###ing genius he was. RIP James

  • Steve Wonder is a National Treasure for sure !!!!

  • One of the great mini symphonies Stevie wrote that clocked in at under 2:59. There were dozens of them! Wonder and John Lennon were both gifted at writing from the POV of jealous lovers. ;-)

  • Its the bass line. All I can say is damn James Jamerson. You are and will always THE MAN!

  • Stevie was gorgeous and still is!

  • damn stevie looks suave as hell in this pic. i wonder how much tang he got in his 20's

  • I imagine they were throwin' it at Stevie--just to hear him say "Shoo-Be-Doo, baby." ;>

  • about as much as Sinatra I'd say.

  • Ahh, Motown, Stevie, James Jamerson on bass . . . who could ask for anything more!!! This is the jam!!

  • Slick! I love it!

  • So smooth as only perfect can be

  • two words,"get down" thank you stevie

  • That James Jamerson bassline is wicked. The tambourine and the "papa zita"(as they called it) drum role on the change is awesome. Full orchestration. No one can make music like this now. Stevie is truly a genius..Syreeta sounds sweet on the background.

  • Papa Zita was Benny Benjamin.

  • cornerstone1019, James Jamerson was the best . . . absolute best!!!

  • ." No one can make music like this now"

People can and are making music like this now...its just that the music industry is such that such music can never see the light of day now...our culture is too decadent

  • damn! I wanted to post this! never mind...

  • I think stevie's version is better. The musicality is more funky and the guitar and bass players are killin from start to finish. Mix in Stevie's great voice and organ playing and you got a classic...

  • This song just kicks it all day long...the musicianship on it is vastly superior to any of the covers...go Stevie!!!

  • I'll be singing this song out loud on november 4th!

  • michael's version is so much more upbeat but this song is still great nonetheless

  • There ya go. Love it.

  • From the very beginning the BASS just DOMINATES this cut. One of the greatest songs ever!

  • added 2 VLOG, thanx so much

  • brings back grat memories thanks.

  • Listen to that bass...awesome!!!

  • Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how do you download music from you tube?

  • you can't download music from youtube. you can download music from limewire. but you can download videos from youtube.

  • You can download videos off youtube and then convert them with Riva FLV converter.

  • Great song from Stevie, with The Funk Brothers providing the music, and the incomparable James Jamerson giving the song that funky bassline.

  • Great!!! Thanks Johnnie!

  • best song ever

  • imo,the best cosby moy wonder song made.

  • Lately, after more than 39 years I've got by ebay this record as original Tamla version in Mint! condition. Great album I must confess...

    Thank you America!

  • head nodding funk!!!!
