  • This proves it! I'm swapping my Fabia Sedan's 1.4, 16valve, 74KW petrol engine for the VRS Diesel. Obviously a better option. How big is the VRS engine, BTW?

  • @FowVayJetta 1.9 litres

  • Cause of gear ratios and tourqe bandwith you should do gear change from 2500-3500 rpm, more or less,at least I am shifting that way.

  • A fact is that diesels are boring slow. They might be going backwards as well. Which idiot thought of putting RS on a diesel engine...

  • To maca, samo teraj u iber!

  • Can I ask why you rev it to the limit??? It's a diesel, keep in the torque band!! 1900rpm's is the most powerful section in the car and basically means 1st gear 10mph, 2nd gear 20mph etc etc

  • @SammyJ21

I change before the limit in most cases and I balanced power, torque and turbo lag to give me the best acceleration. It is NOT most 'powerful' at 1,900rpm, it is most powerful at 4,000rpm. Power = torque x revs.

  • @tubing1982 dude, don't be silly... Peak torque is at 1900rpm, Peak horse power is just below 4000. It is a TDi, not an N/A petrol where you HAVE to keep the revs up! Please try what I have said and see if you feel the difference!

  • @SammyJ21

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about. Yes diesels have bags of torque low down, and yes if you keep the revs between 2k and 3.5k with your right foot welded to the floor, you can make pretty good progress. However it isn't as fast as demonstrated in my video. I drove the car for 40,000 miles and over that period I got a pretty good feel when to change gear for best performance.

  • @SammyJ21 the peak torque is between 1900-3500 rpm at tdi

  • @SammyJ21

You want power if your going from say 0-60..torque for say 30-60..you use it for different things so hes right to take it up high from a standing start.

  • @tubing1982 yeah why didn't you do a 0-100mph run changing gear @ 1.900rpm that would be funny to watch ;) lol you know half these people never driven a diesel engined car

  • @Mr330d I'd go one further and suggest that half these people haven't even driven a car! YouTube seems to act like a magnet for idiots and for some unknown reason, they seem compelled to comment on my videos...

  • @SammyJ21 OMG!!!! That is very funny!

  • @SammyJ21 You should make a video of the way you drive and see how well you do compared with this video. What happens when you get to 5th gear at 50mph? Do you just stop and call the video 'How to get to 50 through the gears at peak torque'?!?!

  • Why do people think CTR's are massively quick? A well tuned Fabia will easily compete with a CTR. Standard v standard, there is a difference.

  • skoda, simply clever!

  • That seems pretty much the same pace as my 2006 Vrs. it is true that most if not all VW PD engines will make around 5-10% more power over stock. i HAVE seen a stock ab fab RS pump out 147 HP and 258 ft lb on DD rollers. shocked most! especially when a "mapped" version mad 162 and 269.

  • not bad

  • how long that car acceleration to 100km\h? I Don't see couse quality is too poor.

  • Around 8 seconds to 100km/h.

  • That videos been removed now

  • I had it removed! :~)

  • Im glad because even after we caught him out he still was pretending its his car lol

But anyway that is a quick car even if it isnt faster than a civic type r.

  • Please do not feed the troll

  • Its soo hard not to lol

  • Haha.. someone's been caught out!! poor old 400pile(ofshit) haha if you're so desperate for a chipped fabia, get a picture!!

or would you prefer a civic type R?? ha! Don't steal good people's videos in future.

  • No, I didn't mean that YOU stole it. I meant that 400pile or whatever that kids name is stole it from YOU! Then added the shiity music and has gone on an arguing spree at everyone who owns a car that isn't a Skoda! So that should clear up any misunderstandings and now please remove that -1 I have on my previous comment!!

  • Thanks for the heads up mate, just seen it, funny, he's claiming it's chipped and will thrash Type R's and VXR's. My Fabia was pretty fast, but was no giant slayer. It did offer cheap thrills though... would definitely recommend it. As for the -1 on you comment, wasn't me... I've just given it the thumbs up to take it back to to 0.

  • Some kid has nicked this vid!! I seen it before with shitty music over the engine sound!

  • This is my video, post the link to the copy.

  • 0-60 in 7.5?? Nice :)

  • LOL u fucking idiot. i have a performance mag in front of me with a jabbasport vrs tuned to 250bhp it does 100 in 16.9 seconds. lol a civic type r would piss over a standard vrs lol. u make me chuckle.

  • I agree the type r would piss on it all day. V-TEC! V-TEC! V-TEC! The type has got anger managment problems. Its so agressive. How can that geazer say the type r is slow, 200 bhp standard. He either must not of test drove one or 2 scared 2 take it past 5 thousand. SHIT OUT

  • why do you have traction control on? only slows you down. i dont agree that civic type r is faster, i test drove one when looking for my new car and wasnt that impressed, this was an 04 registered one too. have driven a fabia vrs 1.9 td and thatnks to the turbo it is more fun than a civic type-r and definately faster. i know which one im going to buy, and and if you keep the revs below 4000 you can get to 60 in around 6 easily and 100 in around 14

  • The traction control isn't on, the light indicates that TC has been turned off.

Also I can just about disagree with you with every single comment you made.

Jason (TDIFurby), struggles to get though massive performance claims you make and his car makes 260bhp!! A standard vRS 0-100mph in 14 seconds... PMSL

  • It's funny because your right lol. Some people =D

I can't wait til I can get rid of my Fabia 1.4 sport and buy myself a nice 1.8T octy

My dad is going to get an octy when I do but he's after the 2.0T instead. He sold he's 1.8 for the fabia just because he got deisel cheap.. Shame on him, still Fabia are great cars and I would drive he's any day every day. 2.5ltr BMW's get eaten by a ecu tuned furby lol, obviously past like 80mph BMW laugh lol..

  • simusqa a think ur been abit cocky me lyk a dont think u no that the vrs fabia is quite fast and can keep up with a civic type-r u say a civic can eat a 2.5 and fabia vrs well the drivers ur racing are fucking shit

  • Bayley, as the original poster of this video I can confirm the Fabia vRS is "quite" fast, it is however not able to keep up with a Civic Type R when standard, even a remapped Fabia would struggle to keep up with a CTR after say 90mph. In gear however it's a different story...

  • hey there, I find that my fab will not keep up with a civic type r up to 60, but after that on the motorway, I find that things are way different, the fabs torque coming into play

  • In gear, perhaps... However if the civic decided to drop a few gears then the difference would still be very apparent! Can people stop with the Fabia-Civic comparisons now, they are not natural rivals. The Fabia vRS is a warm hatch, that delivers a decent punch in midrange performance, achieves good economy and is a great car for eating up the miles. The CTR is an outright hot hatch, it is much quicker in acceleration, braking and handling once it is taken to it's limit of capability.

  • I feel I am in a good position to comment as I have owned the Fabia and now a similar powerful VTEC car. You only have to look at my other videos to compare like for like performance...

  • I know what you are saying. out and out perfomance, you are definetly correct. The fab is great for effortless real world pace without having to gun it everywhere. I suppose i prefer this cos i'm getting old! ps your new motor looks sweet :0

  • @tubing1982 There is absolutely no way you can compare a Skoda diesel with a Honda Civic Type R ! Don't be silly. Not even with a crappy tuning box that injects far too much diesel, causes damage and the car to smoke like mad. Diesel tuners are conning boy racers every day.

  • @urbex2007 I'm sure that's aimed at the wrong person. I'm pleading with people not to compare the two cars... As for your comments regarding diesel tuning, there are large easy gains to be had from remapping these cars. But YES, there are many cheap 'tuning boxes' floating around on sites such as ebay that do little more than to over-fuel the car.

  • a civic type r is more comparable to a golf gti or focus st, this is a diesel engine with less power, so its obviously going to be slower! its more comparable to an a3 2.0tdi sport, or a golf 1.9 gt tdi. But still i wouldnt mind trading my 1.4 fabia blackline in for one of these!!

  • I recently read through a review on the superchip for vRS, results are as follows.

The 0-60mph sprint time fell from 8.1 to 7.0 seconds, while 30-70mph took 6.2 rather than 7.7 seconds. This means it will give the 200hp GTi a run for it's money.

The part that shocked me was the bit about 6th gear sprint from 50-70mph in 7.5 seconds - the Porsche 911 Carrera S is less than half a second faster!!

Can't wait for my furby vrs next month!!

  • Forgot to mention that this was only the 160hp chip, my fabia reads 178hp & 310ft/lbs.

  • what when tha video is called skoda fabia vrs and it only revs up to 5000 revs am sure its a fabia vrs not a Octavia vRS 1.8 turbo and u can also tell tha by the engine noise and its clear this is a diesel

  • you shud not redline a skoda fabia vrs because wen u change gear you are not in the power band for the turbo and you dont drive diesels like petrols . in the fabia vrs the turbo is spinning good from 2 thou revs to 4 and thats wen u change gear as it has better accleration

  • I thik you'll find it was a petrol Octavia vRS 1.8 turbo.

  • I drove one of these (a factory standard 15,000 miler) for the first time last week, and there is no way it does 0-60 in the 9.3 Skoda claim.

It has been figured in the high 7's by several testers, and the VW 130 TDI engine is conservatively rated too. Most examples make 140-145 bhp once run in.

One of the best value drivers cars in recent years, and will do 50+mpg driven normally.

Never thought I would rave about a diesel Skoda, but there you go. Times change.

  • On paper the fabia vRS should losse agains a Civic Type R. However Once you take into account the driver it can be a lot closer than people think.

  • Good vid - You sure that's standard. What do you reckon the 0-100 is? Mine's now around 16 seconds to 100 - I've done a 1/4 mile in 15 seconds with terminal speed of 96mph. See my profile for it's 260bhp dyno video. Oh, and I WOULD put a civic type R in it's place. 260hp & 370lb/ft VS 200bhp and 50 lb/ft @ 9000rpm. LOL.

  • Hi Jason,

It's SkodaLover here... yes that's standard, I reckon it took about 21 secs to 100, though taking into account speedo error, you could add 2-3 seconds to that...

    Regards,

    Fellow Briskodian

  • How's it feel to drive generally? I'm tempted to go for a Fabia vRS because it's rated as being a good motorway cruiser and town car and frankly with the amount of miles I put in (300+ a week) I'm pretty sure my ZS 120 is gonna blow a gasket soon!

  • its rubish and rubish. Mate civic type r eats 2.5 tdi w/ no problem so stop talking bullsheet. fabia has a lot of NM becase it is a diesel. Here in slovakia is a looot of vrs fabias and civic 1.8 can eat fabia with tarmac

  • Your right, but both these have their good points. The VRS for high torque and the Type R for its screaming VTEC engine..

  • you are rubish! :P

  • They struggle top end and against any petrol over a 1.6

  • Not mine. 240bhp still at the redline in mine. Good video though - Nice to see the average MPG plummet during the filming. LOL. I really have to get a 0-100 in mine done at some point. Should be doable in 16 seconds from a standing start.

  • My dad has one of these. Either my eyes were deceiving me or he managed to do 15-60mph in 2 seconds in third gear while pulling out of a jucntion. Then again ours has a re-mapped ECU. Apparently deliverying 170Bhp. So if yours can do that, I wonder what my dads can do.

Still an impressive car even after being about for almost four years. Auto-Express is still praising it to this day. I can safetly say, if I was old enough to drive I would buy one over any Peugeot, Seat or VW in the same sector.

  • I heard tht some car magazines have timed this car doing 0-60 in less than 7.1 seconds instead of 9.5. I have even seen this car giving chase to a Honda Civic Type R!

  • buddy, you just made my day :D:D:D:D:D::D:D:D

  • However I AM NOT SAYING that a VRS will be beat a type R. I was jus observing a VRS was chasing a Civic Type R pretty close. Then again it all depends on the Driver and his skills.

  • that cant be standard to fast. cant wait to buy my vrs but that aint real surely??

  • I got exactly the same car last week and its addictive. The only people who have an issue with Skodas now are mugs who dont know anything about cars!!

  • 0-100kmH 8.5 sec. !!!!!!!!!!!

  • And it's still doing 49mpg! That's what I love about this car, plus the torque!

  • thats 0 -100mph in 21sec mine when i did 0-100mph whilst still standard did it in 19.2sec. when I can find safe road to do 0-100 i film it n post it

  • thank god i think slowly but surely people are realising that skoda's are very good cars. ive owend a fiar few cars in my time and the best ive ever driven is the fabia vrs, i even prefer it to an impreza! especially if i am paying for the fuel lol :P

  • They are quick cars, and this guy drove it in its power band - not redlining it because it runs out of power on the redline!

  • Diesel power!!!

  • either your 1 hell or a driver or that car aint standard!
