yeah it really sux we were graced with such an amazing resource full of food and fresh water and now i swim at the wilson pier on ontario and breakout with a rash :/
What people need to understand is that we need BOTH. We need industry and we need a healthy diverse ecosystem. There is no need to sacrifice one for the other.
If anybody is old enough to remember what the Great Lakes looked like back in the 1960's (not only the lakes, but the whole country) it's nice that something is being done to make the land livable.

fuckin kill yourself then. How many other species do you see that help out other species? When was the last time a rabbit found you with a broken leg and you went to the rabbit opertated vet for care, before he released you back into society? go die by your own hand
This has been a problem for a long time, not because of the lack of "regulation" but as a result of the FAILURE of common law. But you want hear that from these guys. Nope.
Corporations love regulation, Corps. have lobbyist, they write proposed Bills, those Bills gets sponsored by a Lawmaker, that Bill gets passed, it then goes to the President and he signs it.
Corporations, lobbying groups, etc write the Laws not lawmakers. Grow up people and turn off the TV.
Everytime I think about this sort of issue, I remember how long it takes to do anything to really help. ...Then I remember that that "anything" can actually happen if people don't get daunted by the work ahead of them.

What they didn't mention is that there's a very real possibility that the US will come to rely on lake Michigan for drinking water at some point in the near future.

Thank Eurpe for zebra uscls. Without them, Great Lakes water quality would be so poor that everything would now be dead.

It's great we're cleaning up the lake, but we really shouldn't have trashed it in the first place.
