  • So much of that was way off

  • British call soda pop, frizzy drinks

They use the term chocolate chip cookie, but its a type of biscuit - oh and the picture you showed for biscuits are scones, and are somewhat different

We don't use the term rubbish against someone, who use it similarly to the word crap but its not a swear word

Bollocks literally translates as testicles, but yes, can be used in terms as shit, etc.

The British also use the word pram for pushchair

In Britain flats and apartments are very different things

  • Just to let you know we do say line as well as queue and we do say pant aswell :)

  • soda is called a soft drink or in ireland a mineral

  • hey wait a minute he's american and got bad teeth

  • Both accent are nice :)

  • In every country of the world, there are many dialects within a limited territory, even small, where people can understand from where you are. Germany, UK ect. Only in Russia throughout territory of 15000 km we speak the same language with the same words and without dialects.

  • british beer vs american beer, british beer wins-an american

  • i prefer british accent

  • loads of things wrong with that video (im british illl know weather its wrong)

1.we do have "soda " we call it fizzy pop

2.every person from a different place in england

    3.that accent .......totally wrong

4.its not the only accent in britain get a clue

  • @Xxk3nn3di3xX

Actually some places in the UK also just call 'soda' - 'juice' :)

  • Fuck Hufflepuff! They just take all the losers....RAVECLAW AND GRYFFINDOR ALL THE WAY! Slytherine...hide your heads in shame.

  • I dunno i still think the Irish accent is the best Woohoo

  • English people made the language so i think from this we can see that we " british " say words in the english languge the right way unlike the americans

  • @cheeseybell999

haha I remember when I went to Australia with some friends and we were teaching our new American friends to speak properly. Good times :P

  • we dont say bollocks...wtf? :)

  • @SuperSstrawberry

Yeah I know! And what's with the stereotypical Cambridge/Oxford accent? I say put a Geordie, Liverpudian or Glaswegian accent up and see if people understand :P

  • @Debeeria Or maybe something from the Southwest?

  • british!! :D (im british heheh) its so much cooler, even being unbiased

  • lol fuk britain there are WAY more regional accents in america and carribean alone then that island nation full of people with bad teeth lol

  • @Lnce03 there are loads of different accents in the uk.. look it up.. and the bad teeth thing is a negative stereotype and generally not true!

  • there is no such thing as accents

  • I'll reiterate the fact that you're pretty much describing posh southern English accents here. For a start Britain is comprised of more than just England, there's Ireland, Scotland and Wales too all three of which have drastically different accents from any English accent and eachother.

I'm from Yorkshire (a county) in the north of England and we sound very different to Southeners then there's Newcastle and Liverpool and believe me most people in England struggle to understand those accents.

  • most american's don't leave there country so you probally only here the London accent. But there are about 38 different accents in Britain so most people's views are fucked up. I bet to american's if i say people from new york sound the same to people from Texas they'll say no we don't, well that's basically what its like for us.

in terms of overall, british wins because to be fair, it makes your woman sound like men :p least over here you can tell the difference

  • I can't stand British! American FTW!

  • I don't like you.

  • Accents are the way they pronounce the words, not the words they use

  • you yanks always love to harp on saying 'if it weren't for us saving your asses in ww2 y'all being speaking german, well if it wasnt for the french saving your arses in during your war of independence you'd all be speaking english..... propperly!

  • Why are you guys getting upset that we don't know much about Britain? Do you guys know everything about Americans and American culture?

  • damn the british accent is so gay

  • @thatsMrtroll2you

no yo just don't like it it is only gay in your opinion you wanker

  • @bociek1800 no...im sorry dude, but it is true :/ I wish it wasn't but it is.

  • you get biscuits and cookies... :L

  • Fuck you all, Australian accents are the best. Oi, I'm Australian mate!

  • This is so inaccurate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm english and reading these american comments is way funnier than the video

  • British accents the better than american

  • Damn. British people are agry as hell, huh?

  • Of course we have soda! Mostly we (well the people I know) call it by its brand name

And I've never heard push chair, pram

And chemist is mostly called pharmacy.

Mom mum mom mum mom mum

  • I've been to england and wales, there are a lot of different accents. I'm not sure what the "original" english accent is, it's probably gone by now...

  • I'd also like to say to any English teenagers complaining - yes it may be true that many Americans don't travel outside their country much (possibly because their country is huge and worth exploring) but honestly - how many British people get outside Europe? A fair few, but not everyone that's for sure, a trip to the local pub will destroy that idea. Stop hating people you know even know.

  • @monkeyross most americans never leave their STATE let alone the country, working for an american company you get fuck all in the way of paid holiday (vacation to you)

  • I appreciate the enthusiasm and interest and I'm not being sarcastic but a lot of you video is wrong.

One of the things I have to correct is 'bollocks' is bad, 'dog's bollocks' is also bad - 'the dog's bollocks' is good or the best. It's stupid and retarded but that's how it is and the real expression.

  • 2:46 those are new zelanders

  • the one i loved is the way americans call soil "SOD" . i went into their equivalent of B&Q and found a pamplet with the word "SOD " and couldnt believe it! .. lol

  • we have "soda" but we do not call it "pop" ..

  • americans always say "British accent" and have absolutely no clue because they dont travel outside their country.. its an ENGLISH ACCENT , there are FOUR DISTINCT COUNTRIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, WALES, AND NORTHER ISLAND.. go and find out which accent is which .. afterall americans have REGIONAL DIFFERENCES even i KNOW THAT. why do americans call CHIPS , FRENCH FRIES anyway sounds funny lol

  • We call them cookies not biscuits their too different things lol

  • Im an American...but...British accents are so much cooler! Sorry America, but its true :c

  • @MultiWafflecakes Its not true

  • i live in england and the girl's accents, dammm there sexy. Especially the london (cockney) and newcastle (jordy) accent.

  • @MultiWafflecakes Actually, theres more regional accents in England alone than all other english-speaking regions COMBINED.

We call pop pop. Always have.

No offence, but American chocolate and beer are awful.

When I was in Orlando, I was surprised at the number of people who "LURV yur akzent" "It's a strange kinda english though - not quite scottish either" yeah. Geordie, North east England (by Hadrians Wall !) ;-)

  • USA > BRITAIN

  • 60% of america is obese 1-0 britan.

  • Most of that about Britain was completely wrong. Great Britain all the way!

  • People ask, what is the main difference between the brits and the Yanks. The Yanks think they have a dream,,,the "American dream". Britain doesn't have this! You know why? It's because we are awake!!!!!

  • @SIRSLASHEG lol

  • British accents win

  • @TheLotsofgames the english accent goes a long way in yankee land .. lol

  • @TheLotsofgames American southern wins:)

  • How the hell are Americans SOOO dumb? It's not just a stereotype, I've never met an American that knew what Britain actually was, it's worrying, and then they reply with arrogant comments like why would we need to know because America is so awesome haha ok buddy, VERY basic geography

  • @TheChowie Yeah, right moron. All Americans are dumb. It's not just a stereotype. What an ignorant fuck.

  • Britain is really similar to australia! (:

  • @gagafever11 i think you mean southern english accent is similar to australian. which i agree with, but there is no british accent, because there are like 10 or 12 completely different accents in the UK

  • @hiphopismydrug1 oh hahah okay. :)

  • We Also call Barack Obama: Barry O' B. ;D

  • @davehurdon I call myself British, as we all fight under the same flag, yes I speak with an English accent, but while I describe my accent as English, I describe myself as British. And it's because the UK has 1 military, 1 economy and 1 monarch, and the only instance in which we deviate from this unison is for sports, but that doesn't mean much, because after England, I support Ireland, Scotland and Wales above anybody else, and I bet most other Brits would say the similar.

  • Comment removed

  • @VincentPaulCaddell Geographically yes, but "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island" is quite long winded, and saying I'm United Kingdom-ish sounds much more retarded than simply saying I'm British. Even the Government abbreviates it, hence why our army is called - brace yourself - "The British Army".

  • @davehurdon Bro, Ireland isn't part of britain. I think you are referring to Northern Ireland. Which also isn't part of Britain. It's the UK. And it's not "Walsh" It's Welsh.

  • @VincentPaulCaddell northern island is still part of the united kingdom ..

  • from the same producers of "the blair witch project" ! LOL

  • So apparently a scone is a biscuit !

  • i don't see why this video has so many negative ratings

  • THERE IS NO BRITISH ACCENT!!!!

  • I say a veriation of both! And a few other different words

  • errr we say pop! (English)

  • @ImaZombeh Nice song! One of my favourite bands

  • Comment removed

  • we call it pop.... sometimes.... i guess... Or we just say coke, y'know...

  • Actually when I go to McDonalds they call it fries. But otherwise we call them chips.

  • dear imazombeh) of course we have pop over here lol, a lot of americans told me that koolaid is delish, but i just cant find it anywhere in the shops, and mountain dew? never seen over here in england DX, but we do have coca cola, we just call it coke >.>

  • whats the song in the back ground at the start??

  • Big Mac and chips in America?

Yeah, no one will think you are a douchebag at all.

  • You look like a hairy Fred.

  • lol no coke or lemonade over here, it's tragic. We only have these damn fizzy drinks :/

  • lol he put a pic of some council blocks for flats lol

  • for the record bollocks means testies

  • @HigherPoker Ok, fine, I take it back. A napper could be a person who takes naps, but it's not what it says in the video, is it?

  • feo conchatumare!

  • Jezzz Phillip, Dogs bollocks no way means good.It means that's really really rubbish or shit,or you're talking really rubbish. There are a few other "iffy" words and meanings in there too.

  • Britain has a ‘Great’ in front of it’s name, America doesn’t. We had a glorious Empire, where as America is still trying to acquire one

We have our place names, rather than stealing others and putting ‘New’ in front of them.

Greenwich mean time, the basis of the world’s time, is situated in Britain not America.

  • @MyMerlin1 america was settled so all people leaving britain would have somewhere to go. your glorious "empire" building involved taking over other people's countries. you took their resources, enslaved or destoyed the people, and settled like a virus, usually leaving the leftovers in ruins. i do admit that we did the same to the natives in america, but only because we learned from the best. the fact that britain self-proclaims itself as "great" just shows how conceited your country is.

  • @crazitaco Get over yourself. The Great in Great Britain comes from way back in history when Britain ruled half the globe, "The Great Empire". "i do admit that we did the same to the natives in america" contradicting your own argument, making it void. Your opinion is invalid i can only imagine you have a education level of a 5 year old

  • Soda is called fizzy drinks or just the name of the product, like Coca cola ^^

  • In Britain we can grow Moustaches.

  • Ahaha, cool vid!

  • Americans open their mouths way to much when they speak

  • New Version is up! Watch it please :]

  • FAGGOT! I DIDNT EVEN BOTHER WATCHING. JUST WATNED TO LET YOU KNOW YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF DEAD.

  • yes bruv

  • we british push babies in PRAMS

  • american accent invented last 50 years ago until then it i was a normal clear english accent.american accent is so stupid.they force themselves to make it sound like that.watch their mouth carefully.they force it, turn it round left right.how stupid.ignorance really.clear english is the best.

  • @anticapitalist10001 LOL We force are accent ? Well im not sure man it isnt to difficult for me to speak LOL maybe English accent is the wrong one since you seem to have issue with the letter T n many other letters maybe you guys dont "Force" enough

  • wtf you said candy..iheard kennedy..!!

  • ''If they even have pop in their country'' LMAO !!

  • Both rock. I'm just loving the HP. -3 And Boys Like Girls!!

  • BRITAIN ALL THE WAY!!!

  • You love England from the British Accents. That makes no fucking sense. There is no such thing as a British Accent. Britain is not England.

  • Wow 1 frame a day

  • Americans say "motherfukkin skanky assed bitchin hoe ". We say "who your mumma "

  • @TheMuffinkiller2 Well you're helping your cause...get a sense of humor.

  • @theGermanfromIreland humour* ;)

  • @kabukij07

No I'm pretty sure I meant humor. 307 million spelling "humor" vs 62 million spelling "humour"? I think majority rules :)

For the record, I really couldn't care less which one people use, "humor" is just how I was brought up to spell it.

  • @theGermanfromIreland What was that you said about "getting a sense of humor"? It was just a "British vs American spelling" joke, mate. Which I thought was fitting to the video.

But I guess I can't blame you for reacting that way, considering the amount of idiots you find on the Internet. :P

  • @kabukij07

lol I meant my reply to be light hearted, apparently you took it the wrong way though.

  • @theGermanfromIreland Yeah don't worry, I know it was light hearted. All I meant was that you took my "correcting" you seriously.

    Merry Christmas :)

  • yankee fucker u think ur so mint. oh im sorry i meaan cool..

  • british like me say NAPPIES OR YOU SAY DIAPER

  • @mcennis4545 you forgot wales.

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP ITS ONLY AN ACCENT! NONE GIVES A SHIT

  • Those were scones not biscuits...

  • Why are people getting so angry and upset about this posting? Yes, it is a little naive and the poster does get a few things wrong, but he doesn't say anything really nasty about anyone, he hasn't murdered anyone. Chill people.

  • This is kinda naive. Obviously made by a highschooler with hyped up dreams of "ohhowcool" English culture is. And he thinks it's awesome that he calls fries chips. And his imagined english accent hurts my ears.

  • The american accent baby *-*

  • lol are you stupid cookies are a type of biscuit

  • i watched 5 seconds of this and decided all americans are cunts

  • I'm British and I call them cookies and I say waiting in line and I say pop

  • the english language comes from ENGLAND! Your were the ones who changed it into the stupid language. English People are the NORMAL people who speak PROPER english. GET IT RIGHT!

  • @MsNiwa26 Actually American English has changed a lot less in the past few hundred years than British English, for example "fall" is the original old English word for "autumn" which British English borrowed from French much later. Also the English language actually probably comes from Doggerland which became submerged under the sea when everyone in 'England' was speaking some form of Celtic.

  • WE DON'T SAY PIP PI TALLY HO! WE SAY FUCKING CHEERIO!!

  • Comment removed

  • Talk to you like ZIFF!

  • British Mums push their babies around in PUSH CHAIRS?? LOL... Prams.

**PushChairs are for the elderly (or disable/ sick)

  • you are a fucking steamer

  • ???

  • We invented this language so its far more appropriate for us to decide what is defined than just an alternative that has been implemented by you.

  • @mradams225 That's what southerners say in America. I'm from Georgia and we never ever say soda or pop. Everything is coke. And you just say what kind of coke you want: sprite, dr. Pepper, diet coke, mello yellow etc. :)

  • We do call that picture you showed of cookies 'cookies'. 'Cookies' are biscuits with chocolate chips in. The picture you showed to demonstrate biscuits was actually a plate of scones. Totally different. You have those with jam and cream and tea.

  • oh, you're right that "garbage/trash" is called "rubbish", we just don't tend to use it as a derogatory term anymore... it's too soft to convey a true sense of dislike or disgust.

  • not bad.... except "rubbish" is pretty old-school, most english people just say "shit" or "bollocks", unless we're talking to our nans or teachers. and "rubbish" will almost never be applied to a person.... to call someone "rubbish" doesn't make sense.

and instead of "soda" or "pop", we usually refer to a specific brand of beverage, eg "can i have a coke/fanta/sprite please mate?".... otherwise, we just call them "fizzy drinks" in a collective sense.

another insult for you - "knobjockey"

  • @ All british/english people Not every young american is gay queer ass emo faggot like this. The homo music in the start shows it.

  • @XStarss um... ok? What are you talking about?

  • fuck you, queermo

  • lol, wtf is northern and southern British??? News to me, I'm not British, nor am I European, I'm English - get it right you greedy sobs

  • Lol he said "nappers" instead of "napies" trolololol

  • There's also no such thing as an American accent because North America is a continent which comprises of two countries and many states.

  • I'm from Norway.. and we learn (English) wish we lern American :( <3 aMERICA <3

  • britains?? its british lol

  • @animelover5076 he said BRITONS idiot, a briton is an inhabitant of great britain

  • @purplesamual wow no need to be such a dick, it was just a mistake

  • You got most of it right...I just don't know what the hell a nappa is :L Also, please don't take offence to this...your English accent is shite. Hardly any Americans can do it right...they just end up sounding Australian :L

  • proper english vs degarated american chewing gum english .....:-D

  • we call soda pop in the UK too.

  • @paulieeee1976 In what part? We don't call it "pop" in London, but we understand the word from American films.

  • @steevmac It was always pop in Manchester a few years ago. Tap water was also nicknamed corporation pop. The corporation being the water company.

  • @paulieeee1976 That's interesting. I've never heard those expressions, but then again my experience is mostly of London and southern English. I visit Manchester regularly, but would probably not hear those phrases unless I spent time actually living there.

  • In the UK "pop (or soda)" is called "pop," "boogers" are called "snot," "rubbish" means "not good," not "skanky," "trousers" can also be called "pants" in the UK, "diapers" are called "nappies." The word "napper" doesn´t exist. Do a bit of research if you´re going to try to educate other people.

  • @tezp2002 Do a bit of "reading the video annotation" before you go hatin' ;)

  • @ImaZombeh Fizzy drinks= soda. Though I don't think you can buy mountain dew here, I think it was banned. So how come your interested in this topic?

  • @ImaZombeh I´m not hating, I´m just saying! Plus, I had the annotations turned off, sorry! :-S I think it would be a pretty cool video if you remade it.

  • @tezp2002 thanks, i agree! was planning to do that since i know so much more about the UK now, and my accent has improved incredibly :P might as well keep this video up though, for shits and giggles.

  • @ImaZombeh Yeah, keep it up man. People as certainly talking about it hehe.

  • @tezp2002 I have never heard of pants being used for trousers? Pants are underpants. Where abouts are you from? Could be a regional difference.

  • @manicracoon I'm originally from North Wales, but I lived in Manchester for about 8 years as well.
