Yes I know exactly how it feels! I have a type of OCD where everything must be perfect. Girls at my school are like "Oh my gosh, I have to have everything perfect!" They WANT to make people believe they have it and it's stupid. Because when you really DO have it, your life is horrible. I hate doing nothing but cleaning 24/7 it stinks! Thanks for making this video
I KNOW, RIGHT!? I have it too. I have these unwanted thoughts and the counting!!! Darn! The counting. It sucks. When I touch something with my right hand I have to touch it with my left!!! It really sucks!!
its terrible to live with ocd i know that but when you here someone makin it cute just let go tyr as hard as you can to not let it gget under your skin and know its another imature person out there dont let it bother you i know it aint easy to let that go bye and not think somethen but its possible
i totally understand. i hate how someone will do something, and after they do it their like sorry i have ocd about that. i just ignore it but it really pisses me off.
exactly....even if this video is 2 years old, it is very relevant still......its very offensive and FRUSTRATING when people talk about it so lightheartedly and make jokes...the suffering OCD causes is seriously no joke. it makes you hate life.....ugh....but i hope youre doing better, i just started ERP treatment and its definitely a work in progress....but i really wish anyone who has OCD the best, its the worst to overcome :[
Yeah it definitly fucking sucks, alright... My current (and worst) obsessions are both HOCDs, I used to have POCD, hand washing rituals, and big gaps in my beard cus I was constantly pulling out hairs ^^
wow.......trust me I understand exactly how u were feeling back then. I went throught pretty much the same thing and it was pure agony, and all these kids would always complain to me about how they were afriad of germs and all this other crap but in reality they had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.....but hey i hope your doing better now : ).
yeah i have it too. and i HATE when people are like I have OCD to touch that. it pisses me off. i cant go certin places either. and i hate when people like talk on myspace like hi im ___ i have ocd. and all this otther stuff its so annyoing.
i don't understand why people would pretend to have ocd. it takes up so much fucking time, it's embarassing (when other people notice) and if you have an unsupportive family like mine, can be used against you in fights (my brother calls me a psycho cos of my diagnosed ocd and other disorders). and other people don't realize how serious of a problem it really is. it's not funny. it's not a joke.
I suffered from ocd, until Jesus set me free from these demons. Jesus made me relize that he was in contrrol of my life, and that his grace was sufficient for me cast your burdens on Jesus, hHe is the Lord mighty in battle , and will fight these demons for you. It is spiritual warfare!
i've been diagnosed with OCD, and mine has to do with numbers and perfectionist rituals, and praying rituals. if something doesn't feel right i have to do it over and over. i make myself and others late by doing rituals and i'm hindered at work, school, and home. it does suck. i hate it when people say "i'm so OCD!" just because they wash their hands or like to have a clean room. they don't have OCD. also, OCD is a noun. someone cannot be obsessive compulsive disorder. thanks for posting this!
I TOTALLY AGREE I Have Had Ocd Since I Was 8 (Now 14) It Is The Worst Thing EVER ....I Cant Do Things My Friends Do Because I Am Terrified Of Contamination ! ITS SUCKS
and my faimly no about my brother having it but ive kept it in for years and still am, and its stressing me out so much but i cant bring myself to get help, wich is the hardest thing right now. it jsut keeps getting worse and worse :^)!
dude there is nothing wrong w. having ocd its just the way you act...... I posted a video on it its called "OCD and you" AND FOR THE LAST TIME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG W. PPL WHO HAVE OCD AND OCD IS NOT A BAD DISEASE
I have OCD,....too. It, in my opinion is the worst mental illness there is,.........! Because it's such torture,......anyways, I'm working on getting better though,.......
I have had to go though a mental ritual to protect my soul since I was 7. I've had to repeat "I will not give my soul for anything" hundreds of thousands of times a day. :( I've written this out thousands of times a day as well............
I've spent hours crying before I could sleep because of the fear of my soul being taken from me.. ._. After EVERY thought that goes though my head I have to follow it with another thought protecting my soul..
i have ocd that developed into anorexia and it's soo horrible sometimes there's this tog of war between appearing normal and satisfying your compulsions. my ocd eventually triggered anorexia and none of it was fun, really.
I agree but I had ocd and still a little bit I try to help people that has it and a symptoms of OCD is feeling the need to confide its a small and temp form of reliveing anxiety and your right on alot of thing very true it sucks ass and even posting this video may have given you some form of relief of it.
thanks, you made a great point, because most people just think its funny but its not, it sucks more than anything. i have ocd and what you just said is true. thanks for posting this
This is exactly how I feel. Mine is basically gone but people don't understand. It is not funny AT ALL! It is an extremely painful psychological disorder that is overlooked and lightly made fun of. If you have never closed your closet door 24 times in a row you don't know.
You know I started having OCD in my freshmen year. Im a junior now but I constantly need to explain to people whats wrong with me when I'm checking and doing rituals.
There are a lot of OCD rituals or symptoms that I cannot really understand in my mind..
People that obsess over numbers.. Verbally, mentally, physical acts of numbers. Two of anything is better than one.
People that obsess about public washrooms. Or have problems using them. Personally I dont have OCD but I've never put my ass on a public toilet seat. Ever. Hover.. people..
Ive never locked a door without having the key in my hand. Is that OCD? Or being smart?
I know what you mean. I was in line at lunch and this girl was talking about beeing afraid of germs and the first thing that came out of her friend's mouth was: "You have OCD." I felt like backhanding her. -.-
ocd does fucking suck, just because they check somthing or wash their hands a little more then the avg person doesnt make them ocd. ocd is when you wash your hands to the point where they are tomato red and bleed all of a sudden because their so dry. checking the corners of the tv and checking 6 times that my door is locked isnt fun
i agree with you. I have OCD and i hate it so much, alot of people think they have ocd, iv spoke to people about compulsive disorders, and some really do have it, and some just say stupid things, which arent even ocd's theyre fucking little habits that arent ocd's. habits are definatly different compared to ocd's as you know. :)
I see all of these people all happy and cheerful thinking that they have OCD. If they really did they would not be happy about it. OCD is very torturous and depressing, you have no inner peace, especially when you get thoughts stuck in your head and they never come out. It makes people act bizzare and they are usually labeled freaks. Oh yeah, and doctors get money for pushing new medications off on people.
It's really not fun to have OCD.. I have it for 2 years now.. It's very emotional and it's grazy to do something you don't want to.. I'm a control freak.. I check everything for 100 times while all my free time is losing.. If I have not everything checked, it's soo busy in my head that I can't concentrate.. I have medicins, and conversations etc.. Many people don't understand and think you kinda weird. That is for me the hardest thing from OCD.. this was my story.
i totally agree with you. it isnt funny to make up that you have a syndrome. and to ppl who do actually have some things wrong with them and you dont and they see you acting like that, they feel hurt.
And seriously? You're the first person to ever tell me I look younger than my age, haha, cool. Most people tell me I look 21-24, but I guess you'd have to meet me in person.
I love this video. Totally agree. People who claim to have OCD because they think they're a bit "quirky" or like things clean REALLY piss me off. I started uni in October and had to get an en suite- because there was no other way of me attending. This meant I had to explain my disorder to people to which many replied "Omg- like- me too! I do this..." And Im just sitting there wanting to scream at them.
and just for the record andone who makes fun of you or thinks you're weird or gets mad at you for having a tiny problem is a retard. i have bipolar friends and i love them with all my heart. anyone who treats you different for having OCD is a bitch
Haha, for real. My OCD is a whole lot better now than it has been in years, so no one really notices or says anything anymore, which is a huge relief.
gosh, my friend is saying that she has OCD and ADHD and is bipolar. she says she hasnt been diagnosed but she really thinks she does. but i have NEVER EVER seen her exibit behaviors like that. then, just today, my other friend (who knows that i almost definetly have OCD) commented that she has OCD just because...i forget why, but it was nothing. but thankfully, she apologized for offending me. :)
i have ocd what i hate about it is the compulsive thoughts it makes u think and feel like ur crazy but the obsession with fixing things when i over come a fear of what so ever it just becomes a habit so i try to live care free its hard but i have to live with that i dont care attitude or else i would drive myself nuts lol
hey u guys I have a question, is OCD progressive? does it start from no symptoms, and then little by little it starts showing and just keeps getting worse?
For me it started when I was about.. 7. It started with me being absolutely filled with fear that I could stop my own heart from beating. I'd have to hit my chest a certain mount of times and I thought that riding a stationary exercise bike for a certain amount of time daily would keep my heart beating. Then it from from that to thinking really horrible thoughts about killing and hurting people on accident or without my control. I'd hit myself in certain patterns to prevent this. Then it grew...
I'd go though patterns of hitting myself to tapping on stuff to saying things over and over to keep the thoughts away. Then from there I started being overwhelmed of bad religious thoughts and a paralyzing fear of the devil or something else stealing my soul. I'd do so much to prevent the thoughts and stealing.. from writing a 1000 times a day "contracts" to save my soul, hitting myself in certain ways, to taking 3 hour long baths several times a day to get rid of the thoughts, all before 10.
yes, i completely agree!!!! i have not been diagnosed with OCD, but that type of thing runs in my family and i am probably going to go get help soon. when i told my friend that i was "diagnosing" myself with it, they thought they did too. but i have never seen any of them display that behavoir. i asked them what their symptoms were and they said that they like the number 3 or something of the sort....gosh, i just COMPLETELY 100% agree that OCD is hell and people shouldnt be bragging about it.
I agree with you! i hear some girl a few days ago at school say "i am so ocd!" to one of my teachers i thought it was so stupid! they have no fuckn clue what it is i have seen this girl and she sure as hell does not have it do not brag about OCD it is FUCKING HELL! you dont want it!
your right its not cute ocd fucking sucks it can cripple someones life as it does mine. I live in constant stress and worry and just distraught it more than sucks.
everyday, i obsess over the fact that i might go insane or contreact some type or diease or germ, so i have to cheack my vial signs like 600 times a day, and wash my hands another 600. Theres this one girl in my school who 'OCD's' over tilting paper. and i think its rediculous cause its obviouslt fake.
Omg I agree with you 100% I hate it when people say and pretend they have OCD. They don't know what it's like to live with that torture. Thanks for posting this, it's how and probably alot of other people with OCD feel aswell.
I understand completley. And i would react the exsact same way. I have OCD and i was at my kinda friends house we were all going out as a group, and she was like locking here door and shes like hang on i have to do it its my OCD, to a bunch of people, and i was like thinking i actuly have it and would never just blurt it out like that. Cuz when you really have it it affects your whole life.
im miserable and im 13 and i have really really long hair and pull it out and it leaves bald spots and i have to check the door every 5 minutes. im getting medicine for it in a week =)
yea eberytime my firends see me touch the wall or something for no reason or touch my face to a pencil or watevs i havr to make an excuse like o idk i was joking ior soemthing i hate it
I understand completely.. its embarrassing to talk about even to your doctor. i only recently went to the doctor (few months back) about it because its been getting worse and i have to go to cognitive therapy soon.. i don't see how someone is going to change whats in my head though.. none of my friends know (i don't think) they do pick up on some things. I think most of what i have to do just seems stupid even to me. never mind trying to explain it to someone who hasn't got it. good video!
I have a mild case, but I havn't been to a doctor or anything. I hate it and I hate people that make fun of it. Everymorning I have this same thought whenever I step into the shower without trying to think about it. I have a shower ritual, 2-3 times a day, clothes are contamindated. I have to do other things too. I hate it, I don't want it to get more serious.
Awalman22: You should see a doctor before it gets worse trust me. When it gets worse it'll be harder to heal. It's best to try and get rid of it during it's milder stages.
I remember the other day I was 30 minutes late for a dance but my mind kept telling me that I have to shower, floss, brush, everything before I went even though I had just been sitting at my desk doing hw and I had showered 4 hours earlier, and was wearing clean clothes. I'm scared that it will get worse and I will have the serious counting problem.
I havn't been to a doctor or anybody yet but I defenitely have mild ocd. It's defenitely been growing over the past 2-3 years and getting worse. Everything is contaminated. I can't wear certain clothers unless they've been washed and placed in certain drawers. I also go through a shower ritual every morning in night. It takes about 15 for a compltet body wash and then I have to floss between every tooth equal amount of times, brush, use mouthwash, everything.
I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL!I have OCD and it does FUCKIN SUCK! More than that! GOD I'm sSO offended by those dumb girls that are like,"OMG I LIKE SOOO TOTALLY HAVE OCD TOO!!YAAYY!!!"I'm 13 and They're like,17 and SO incredibly immature. OCD is now misrepresented by them.UGH. I'm actually writing a speech on OCD right now. I think all you OCDers would appreciate some of the stuff. Thanks for making this video. It's good to know someone out there feels the same way I do.
Yes Ma'am. even people at our school. Like Ray. she thinks shes a perfectionist, or OCD because she's organized. But she's not. I've always known her to be clean. People that go around like" oooh I cry and hurt myself im depressed ooh look at me' thats just a cry for attention. They need to shut they're faces, and get down to reality. BTW The speech was AMAZING
Yeah I totally understand this video and how you feel ! I have this too and am obsessive over a lot from Hand washing to having to stand up and sit down 20 times before eating dinner and wash my hands every time I touch certain things and obbsessing over illness. There is a girl in my form at school who is totally thick and piss taking who sais she has OCD over her eye lashes ! Perfectly possible for some but you can tell by who it comes from.
I have OCD and hate it, (yeah been diagnosed/tablets/cognetive therapy) I HATED the fact that in school everyone was like SORRY I HAVE ADD/ASPERGERS/OCD when they really didn't. SO Annoooyingggg. I am in the UK btw. So it's not just an American thing. x
I think people say this who haven't a clue what OCD is like, but think it sounds funny, or even clever to slip it into conversation. Nowadays these psych terms are commonplace and people make up their own minds about what they think (e.g.) OCD, anorexia, ADHD etc is. When someone has a true mental illness they don't 'choose' to have it and find it almost impossible to change.
This 'loose' use of psych terminology in everyday language doesn't help those who really suffer. It makes a mockery.
OCD disorders can range from minor issues to major problems that interfere with your life. No, they're not funny. I really wish people wouldn't turn it into a joke, no matter what the disorder is or the intensity of it.
I have a mild dermatillomania and I used to have Trich. I'm pretty sure my Trich just turned into dermatillomania. When i was 3 and again at 6, I pulled out all the hair on the left side of my head. Now I pick my arms, scalp, and lips.. but people don't notice as much, luckily.
I know what you mean it took me like a hour to write this.. just cause of OCD! i hate it i touch EVERYTHING twice my friends ask me why i turn back to touch things.. and if i dont ill go home and cry.. my friends say they have all these wrong things with them like.. ocd/adt.. i just named those 2 cause thats what i have.. i don't know of any others but one thing i do know is OCD IS HELL i wouldent wish for anyone to have to do the things i do.. and like she said its not having to bliknk.. :(!
It is a very devastating disease. My 14 year old daughter was clinically diagnosed yesterday. She has been fighting it for years. We thought she had some unusual habits, but did not know any better. Recently it got much worse. She has horrible thoughts she can not get rid of. It is a living hell. We will get her whatever help is available to just see a glimpse of our little girl again.
Really? That makes me happy. I don't know how old you are, but your page says you're from the UK, so it's probably just a stupid thing idiot Americans do.
I honestly can't tell you how many time I've heard 14-16 year old girls talk about how "Totally OCD!!11!" they are and then giggle, as if it's this endearing quality they have. It's pretty sick, and I'm glad you've never seen anyone act like that.
And by the way, I'm going to make a better video on this topic that clarifies what I mean, and involves less ranting, haha. I was an angry 16-year-old when I made this, and I'm now a much better off 18-year-old.
I have OCD. Its not a joke, intrusive thoughts are the worst part. If I walk down the street past a street light and think I should have touched it, I have to walk back and touch it. I have to check everything multiple times. I cant have anything to do with the number 13. I have to take fluoxetine to combat it. Theres a difference between quirkiness and OCD. Everyone thinks they have it but its not always what people think it is. I dont have to wash my hands all the time, its mainly thoughts
This video is right on the mark! Most people do not realize the true torment that OCD causes..I have had OCD for a long time and it effects everything I do and I HATE IT!!!
Yeh your right, i have OCD and im 12 i have to touch things 3 times before and now its 3 and then 2... and im there for ages until it feels right to leave... it sucks! i wish i diddnt have it.
I'll do anything to hide the fact that I have OCD, from people I know. I make up excuses to go wash my hands, which I do more than 100 times a day. I believe she was telling people that it is not cool to say you have this disorder. It has un my life for years. It really bugs me when people say they have OCD, when they dont. I think that is what she was getting at. Believe me, people with OCD are very secretive about the disorder.
I have a friend with diagnosed OCD at age 15, now he's 21. I kind of helped him with his therapy, he was in a realy bad shape. You see the biggest mistake you make (as he did) is not going places, it only makes it worse, it's almost like saing "ocd is stronger then what i want". You could try a kind of "conflicting therapy". You record yourself, then you wach yourself doing strange stuff, now most OCD suffering people "se how wrong it is", this got my friend realy much out of his problems
here it is brosoph. if we pray to Jesus and follow him, then such obsessive compulsive rituals wouldn't need to be performed when we ask our Lord and Savior to help us with this.
I've clarified this in other comments, but I will again.
I say that I have OCD to show that I'm actually speaking from experience, not just hypothetically, when I say that real OCD sucks. I'm not broadcasting because I want to seem special like the people I'm referring to -- the people that don't REALLY have OCD. I actually do have it, and it's not something I'm proud of.
I feel your rage. yeah some people are retarded and think its just cleaning and bullshit like that..its alot deeper and more frustrating than that. How old are you btw?
i have been trying to get that point across to so many of my friends.... but they still hug me.. :'( they don't understand and all it does is piss me off.. :/ it is hell. i am glad you made this video. i really am. i understand where you are coming from. :)

I have the intrusive thoughts version and it has destroyed my life.
I can't be around anyone without thinking something and telling people around me about it.
If I don't confess these thoughts I get all nervous and guilty.
Rarely do I ever tell anyone I have this condition, it's not something to be proud of.

I don't even know what some of those things you mention are, but I can guarantee you I'm not doing, and haven't done, any of them.
I was raised Christian, and it just so happens that is when my OCD was at its worst.
So, I'm going to respectfully disagree with you, and continue living life as a happy atheist. :)

exactly....even if this video is 2 years old, it is very relevant still......its very offensive and FRUSTRATING when people talk about it so lightheartedly and make jokes...the suffering OCD causes is seriously no joke. it makes you hate life.....ugh....but i hope youre doing better, i just started ERP treatment and its definitely a work in progress....but i really wish anyone who has OCD the best, its the worst to overcome :[

i don't understand why people would pretend to have ocd. it takes up so much fucking time, it's embarassing (when other people notice) and if you have an unsupportive family like mine, can be used against you in fights (my brother calls me a psycho cos of my diagnosed ocd and other disorders). and other people don't realize how serious of a problem it really is. it's not funny. it's not a joke.

i've been diagnosed with OCD, and mine has to do with numbers and perfectionist rituals, and praying rituals. if something doesn't feel right i have to do it over and over. i make myself and others late by doing rituals and i'm hindered at work, school, and home. it does suck. i hate it when people say "i'm so OCD!" just because they wash their hands or like to have a clean room. they don't have OCD. also, OCD is a noun. someone cannot be obsessive compulsive disorder. thanks for posting this!

OCD isn't just fear of germs.. :(

MrPenguin1000 2 years ago 3
ocd does fucking suck, just because they check somthing or wash their hands a little more then the avg person doesnt make them ocd. ocd is when you wash your hands to the point where they are tomato red and bleed all of a sudden because their so dry. checking the corners of the tv and checking 6 times that my door is locked isnt fun
Iplaypsp 2 years ago
i agree with you. :)
Ashisonline 2 years ago
I see all of these people all happy and cheerful thinking that they have OCD. If they really did they would not be happy about it. OCD is very torturous and depressing, you have no inner peace, especially when you get thoughts stuck in your head and they never come out. It makes people act bizzare and they are usually labeled freaks. Oh yeah, and doctors get money for pushing new medications off on people.
Dihydromorphine 2 years ago
It's really not fun to have OCD.. I have it for 2 years now.. It's very emotional and it's grazy to do something you don't want to.. I'm a control freak.. I check everything for 100 times while all my free time is losing.. If I have not everything checked, it's soo busy in my head that I can't concentrate.. I have medicins, and conversations etc.. Many people don't understand and think you kinda weird. That is for me the hardest thing from OCD.. this was my story.

I do this..." And Im just sitting there wanting to scream at them.

rainbowdoom 3 years ago
hey u guys I have a question, is OCD progressive? does it start from no symptoms, and then little by little it starts showing and just keeps getting worse?
xorgevaldivia 3 years ago
For me it started when I was about.. 7. It started with me being absolutely filled with fear that I could stop my own heart from beating. I'd have to hit my chest a certain mount of times and I thought that riding a stationary exercise bike for a certain amount of time daily would keep my heart beating. Then it from from that to thinking really horrible thoughts about killing and hurting people on accident or without my control. I'd hit myself in certain patterns to prevent this. Then it grew...
rainbowdoom 3 years ago
I'd go though patterns of hitting myself to tapping on stuff to saying things over and over to keep the thoughts away. Then from there I started being overwhelmed of bad religious thoughts and a paralyzing fear of the devil or something else stealing my soul. I'd do so much to prevent the thoughts and stealing.. from writing a 1000 times a day "contracts" to save my soul, hitting myself in certain ways, to taking 3 hour long baths several times a day to get rid of the thoughts, all before 10.
rainbowdoom 3 years ago
yes, i completely agree!!!! i have not been diagnosed with OCD, but that type of thing runs in my family and i am probably going to go get help soon. when i told my friend that i was "diagnosing" myself with it, they thought they did too. but i have never seen any of them display that behavoir. i asked them what their symptoms were and they said that they like the number 3 or something of the sort....gosh, i just COMPLETELY 100% agree that OCD is hell and people shouldnt be bragging about it.

I hate it, I don't want it to get more serious.
awalman22 3 years ago
Awalman22: You should see a doctor before it gets worse trust me. When it gets worse it'll be harder to heal. It's best to try and get rid of it during it's milder stages.

I remember the other day I was 30 minutes late for a dance but my mind kept telling me that I have to shower, floss, brush, everything before I went even though I had just been sitting at my desk doing hw and I had showered 4 hours earlier, and was wearing clean clothes. I'm scared that it will get worse and I will have the serious counting problem.
awalman22 3 years ago
I havn't been to a doctor or anybody yet but I defenitely have mild ocd. It's defenitely been growing over the past 2-3 years and getting worse. Everything is contaminated. I can't wear certain clothers unless they've been washed and placed in certain drawers. I also go through a shower ritual every morning in night. It takes about 15 for a compltet body wash and then I have to floss between every tooth equal amount of times, brush, use mouthwash, everything.

It makes a mockery.
misstiggykins 3 years ago
OCD disorders can range from minor issues to major problems that interfere with your life. No, they're not funny. I really wish people wouldn't turn it into a joke, no matter what the disorder is or the intensity of it.
I have a mild dermatillomania and I used to have Trich. I'm pretty sure my Trich just turned into dermatillomania. When i was 3 and again at 6, I pulled out all the hair on the left side of my head. Now I pick my arms, scalp, and lips.. but people don't notice as much, luckily.

I have to check everything multiple times. I cant have anything to do with the number 13. I have to take fluoxetine to combat it. Theres a difference between quirkiness and OCD.
