To ward77man; Your facts are definitely correct (it's already documented). As a matter of fact, New Orleans was FIRST to hold street parades in mardi gras celebrations, AND THAT'S A FACT! (research/google the history of the "racist' Krewe of Comus in New Orleans). BTW, New Orleans Mardi gras music is "livelier" than this "country type" music Mobile plays for mardi gras.
Joe Cain started Mardi Gras back in Mobile after the Civil War. Mobile was still under occupation by the Union. He chose a fictional Chicksaw indian chef named Slacabamorinico. He chose this because the Chicksaw was never defeated by the Union. Look it up. There is history in all of our Mardi Gras. Something for all of us to be proud of.
