A quick way for those who don't have time. make the mold of your face, cover with modeling clay, put on the proper details, remove and apply liquid latex over the modeling clay. What you will get is a flexable face part. ALl is required is some powdered silver.
Where or how do you get ahold of the 'resin' (spelling?) for the making the final plastic piece? Does it come all by itself or do you have to mix in other ingredients? I've done piece before, but only latex and gelatin, so I'm not famaliar with this material.
@merlin8585 Kinda depends where you live - if you're in the UK google Tirantis or Mouldlife.
It's actually fibre glass which comprises a resin coating which is used to laminate glass fibre. You need to mix it with a catalyst to cause it to set..
Ok, so just the resin for fiber glass and a catalyst? Alright then. I'm sure I've got a few kinds of catalysts available here, but I'll need to order some resin. Thanks a lot for the help. I hope it turns out ok.
Dude, I'm making that for Halloween this year. I'll actually be building it over the summer, I hope I can ask questions if needed. Love the vids, love the pics, and love the blog. Subscribed!
You could get the size of the eye piece down a lot by using a surface mount LED instead of normal LED, and add a piece of acrylic lens on top of the component to mask it (and act as a lens).
The depth of the eye piece could theoretically be shaved down to around 4mm, although you'd still have to mount it convincingly. :)
Thanks! I got them form a couple of art/special effect companies in the UK. I think you;re based in the US so check out smooth-on (google it, it won't let me post a link here).
Hi - this is the only explanation I've posted on YouTube - you can check my website for abit more detail if you need it. It won;t let me post a link here, but check my channel for the url.
to fix the eye level, would you just sculpt the metal piece a bit higher? And you know you can buy spray on chrome. That would look awesome on this piece!
Actually the eye piece should fix exactly as shown on the sculpture, it just kinda sank a little little bit once I'd put the make-up on it's abit difficult to adjust when it's all glued to your face!
Yeah I think I have some chrome spray paint, I might give that a go.
i don't think the skin pigment is your problem. i think the problem is that the eye protrudes too much. obviously it has to protrude, youre not going to rip out your eye just for a costume, but there are ways to acheive a more convincing optical illusion. its better than anything else on youtube but if you want my criticism, that's it. good luck
Thanks guys. It's quite a lengthy process as you can see so would probably be quite expensive, plus whoever it was for would have to have a plaster cast made of their face.
Additionally I think the film studios would hunt me down and sue me for breaching copyright!!
yeah i understand that now! Im going to be a future film producer some day if u want check my Cy-war Videos Ive mad and in a few weeks im going to complete my trilogy!

I think the eye level is wrong.
wildfilms365 2 years ago
Yeah it ended up sitting abit lower than I would've liked in the end, probably correctable if I ever run off another batch.

thedarkpower 2 years ago
the head cast, is that a cast of your head or jst a random manakin head?
if it is a cast of your head how do you do that for a home made version that has no access to studios or workshops?
