  • Simply amazing! I wished someone would post Still Alive & Well, the FULL album.

  • i don't care who wrote this song. It just had to be performed by Johnny..........now it.s eternal. b.t.w. I,m 50 years old. thank for posting...Rouge Fatal.

  • I have loved him too ,what a unique artist .He has made my life a better place .

  • great song from a marvelous album. Thanks Johnny.

  • Rick Derranger wrote this!

  • Remember old times...love you johnny.

  • Drawn in cheap tequila♫ and flush yourself awayyyyyyy♫ Great Song¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • @voronoz DROWN in cheap tequila...

  • I remember getting the Still Alive and Well album as a teenager! I wore that damm thing out! I've always thought it was Johnny's best. This song was one of my favorites. Still love this whole CD.

  • @univibe23 How old are you?

  • @univibe23 When did you fly B-52s

  • This is one of the many songs by Johnny Winter that molded my guitar style.Long Live Johnny Winter!!! One of the most tasteful solos of all time.

  • He is the best slide player but you cant put him on top of the hill over every other blues guitar player, he stands a long side all the greats.

I dont think one can clearly say without argument who is the best of the best blues guitarist but he is right along side them. There are & were so many great blues guitarist one that sticks out is Buddy Guy who inspired the likes of Hendrix to Clapton & the list goes on. Hmmm...will we really ever know the answer. I am a big JW fan seen him over 20 times

  • I agree with you roughboy, as a well established slide player, I think Johnny Winter is the best slide player to ever play the guitar....ck out his Woodstock Video on Utube...bet you already have!

  • Johnny Winter is the KING of Blues, and NO ONE COMPARES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just saw Johnny in Greenville, SC last nite, 8/13/11....the House PA was terrible and they had Johnny's vocals cut up too loud, and his guitar, with that high treble synthesizer sound was hard to distinguish from the rythem section, but, when you were lucky enough to get some very few clean sounds, you could tell he was still the best BLUES Guitarist that has every lived!!!!....don't try to compare a BB King to Johnny Winter! BB is an entertainer, but, I can play better than him in my sleep!

  • music at its best

  • Rick Derringer was a great writer, perfect for Johnny.

  • love this song! and he is awesome

  • dude all the faggots under should really stop posting on this vid

  • @pth564 ur an ass!!

  • love this song always have

  • my uncle took me to see johnny winter last year, along with james montgomery, and anyone who sayysy johnny has lost his touch is dead wrong. Man he kicks ass! he might not be able to stand up haha, but he can still outplay you anyday

  • wht an awesome song by a quite underrated blues man, great lyrics and so soulful

  • fun to come in and see these conversations. beerostoooom...........your grammar needs work.

  • @bebopdeluxury Is that so? Show me and I'll be glad to make a correction. In the meantime, perhaps you can find some better way to waste everybody's time....

  • To pth564 - You summed this up perfectly. I am just happy to see him playing and still alive. Those that never saw or heard him back then may not appreciate what he's doing today, but that's just life.

  • After being a JW fan for decades, I got to see him last year. Yes he is a frail old timer and his voice is weak now and whatnot but he sure can shred. Edgar was on the same show and he was so energetic and jumping around all goofy, he ruled in a different manner but hey, its all good.

  • nicely said roughboy.

  • i love j.w. always have always will.

  • Pure,Raw Blues,,no special effect bullshit!!

  • @jdrock14

hey this guy does this kinda shit on all videos......typical net troll....i've been following him for a while now.....pay no mind......another dickless wonder on the net

  • @LizRichieBand What the hell are you talking about???

  • @jdrock14 oh i was addressing that sarcastic jackass....not dissin johnny......

  • @LizRichieBand Understood.

  • @beeroosterm

i hope you lose your ears & hands

  • @LizRichieBand After listening to your band, it appears you've already lost yours... My comments on JW stand. He is pathetic now, and he needs to stop. He had his time in the sunshine but his years of drug abuse have destroyed any ability to make good music. He is unable to play - and his blindness extends from an organic visual disability to an aural one, which he and others like you appear to be able to ignore in spite of the sonic reality. The old lion cannot roar any more...

  • @beeroosterm

nothing you say about my music means shit....and you opinion on winter is fine being that its your opinion.......you are a failure....you have nothing to bring to the table except talk....you are one of those losers....put up something that shows a talent......I bet you cant....your life is non existent except for on here......Johnny Winters last shit has more talent than you'll ever dream of having.Even a dead person has more talent than u possess .......post something fagmo :)

  • i love this song

  • "Texas Guitar Slim" doing a Rick Derringer classic, and Yes Johnny was the FIRST White Blues man PERIOD, He is the Archetype that all the others including SRV gauged themselves by. Regardless of how he may have hit the skids, the Progressive Blues Experiment remains the precursor of a great Blues revival.

  • @RoughBoy1056 All anybody was ever able to do was to gauge themselves. Johny stands in a class of his own Jimi, S.R.V. Roy Buchanon, Alvin lee. all are greats 2 didnt live long enough to reach there potential one went about as far as they could go and the other hung hisself in a columbia s.c. jail cell. MR. winters has stood by the blues and has only got closer to the blues . nothing but the blues on alligator to me is the best of the best. J.W. on international steel slideass BLUES guitar WOW

  • @mamasboy815 The cause of Roy's death is in doubt. I believe he was murdered. Roy was definitely, like you said, was in a class w/ a very small number of guys. They all live in our hearts.

  • @tubejmmer Yeah, anytime we lose one of the greats is when we miss them.We fill like someone should have protected them or somthing. But truth is Roy was a mess man,he couldnt stay sober and everytime he got started on a project he'd get drunk and fuck it up somehow.Especially this time,he was brought back into exsistance by J.W. and alligator, and he couldnt guit fuckin up man.I dont know for sure what happend in jail, but i do know when a true blues man has the blues it's devistating.

  • Johnny Winter was the Stevie Ray Vaughn well,... well before there was a SRV!!!

  • The man that disliked this song is legally retarded.

  • Argue all you want, but this was one of his greatest songs, and one of the sweetest leads ever played!!

  • There's an alien walking amongst us!!!How in the fuck could anyone not like this...Come on now,man...really.Please have your soul examined. It must suck to be you...I'm sorry

  • drink up and be happy....

  • Too bad Johnny can't play any more. Done. Gone. Hasn't played "normally" in 10-12 years. Started declining in 1998-99, done by 2000. Done. Plays like a senile old man who's had a stroke. Look at any of the videos out there. Pathetic.

  • @beeroosterm who the fuck are you to try and damage a hero????

  • @berdoofool I'm not trying to "damage" Johnny. Just telling the truth. If you doubt my veracity, just look/listen to his performance at the 2010 Crossroads festival a few weeks back and weep just like I did. I'm in the middle of reading his autobiography right now but I'm just getting to the part where he's checked himself into rehab in New Orleans in the early 70's. He certainly was on top of the world then. Too many drugs, too much methadone/other drugs in combination, it seems...

  • @beeroosterm you steamming piece of crap

  • @berdoofool What a fine and literate comment - well spelled, too. Hey, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen! I love Johnny - I just can't stand to see him like he was at the 2010 Crossroads festival. What an embarrassment. Anybody who cared about him would NOT have let him walk on that stage to play the...gibberish he played. My God - a 5 year old could have played better. Go hang with your politically correct friends - I know what's real and what isn't. Fuck islam. Fuck all PC...

  • @beeroosterm .......I agree to see Johnny the way he played was sad however to shoot from the hip is incorrect as well. Johnny continues to play and will die on the stage. Remember the good times not the bad.

  • @89easygoer I am not "shooting from the hip" - that implies I'm making things up as I go along. I will remember the good times after he is dead; for now, the truth is that he does not belong on a stage while charging admission. And if he doesn't stop soon, I'm certain he WILL die on stage.

  • @beeroosterm dumbass maybe sombody comes through town slangen a guitar like MR.WINTER but i will bet my favorite dog it wont be your junky ass!

  • @mamasboy815 Go back to school, Mama' s Boy, and learn to compose a sentence. As to Johnny: I love the man too much to pay to see him play like a drunken 5 year old. The old lion cannot roar any more and must step down and retire gracefully. He refuses, however, and is making a fool of himself and ripping off those who expect the Johnny of old. He cannot even play the simplest of tunes - it is pathetic. He is really sick and should go home and rest on his laurels.

  • @beeroosterm Loves a hard thing to hide dumbass.Go back to school learn how to quit being a dumbass, then come back and join the real world.Better yet back your shit up with the name of someone alive that deserves your money dumbass.

  • @mamasboy815 Whoever currently deserves my money is beside the point, which is that you're a dimwitted fool and that whatever Johnny Winter was as a blues guitar player is dead. Good luck.

  • @beeroosterm You run into a dumbass everyday, but it's rare to run into a dumbass of your type. When a dumbass calls you a fool, and then try's to kill a legend. You have just got to say, hats off to you DUMBASS.Their has to be some kind of relevance. But then when you wished me good luck ,I realise your just your everyday run of the mill dumbass. Sorry you didnt rise over the level of standard dumbass that I allmost gave you credit for.Keep trying though,at the rate your going your allmost their.

  • dude i bought a firebird (Best guitar i ever bought) just because of this dude.

  • Great song from Johnny's best album--SA&W This album is full of blues rock classics and killer guitar tone!

  • What a great unique Rock and Roll musician...ain't none like him and never will be one again!!

  • Johnny, when you came to Arlington, Va @ Lou' s Rock City in 1977,(I think) I was so Blown Away! Do You remember firing up that Joint, thowing it to the crowd, and saying "Smoke it, don't fight over it !" Everyone went Crazy! You Tore the place apart that night!! We truly Love You FOREVER!!

  • I rember back in84 I was an old timer but even though somtimes it kinda hard to tell I am still alive....

  • A Rick Derringer song made memorable by the great JW. Always worried about my eardrums at his concerts in the 1970s but WTH, I've gotten used to the constant ringing in my ears after all these years. :-)

Still Alive And Well had another great song in addition to this one and it's "Ain't Nothing To Me". Similar chord structure in both songs.

  • Definitely the loudest concert I have ever been to. Close to painful

  • Johnny Winter was in my opinion the best of the Rock/Blues genre...a genius of interpretation...

  • @pat52007 I totally agree with you =)

  • todd rundgren plays the melatron in the is song i love this song

  • I shook the hands of many mans, srv,jl hooker,bb king, but JW's was honest,sincere..I said "i love you!" without skipping a beat he said ," I love you!" circa 1979 San Jose Ca.

  • Badass!!!! I'm from San Jo too. Johnny is the best!

  • Dear Mr Winter.... You are Brownsugar's hero... and you will always be our idol!! Greetings from Malaysia!!

  • My guitar teacher taught it to me when i was about 12! awesome song!!

  • This man is the reason I became a good player, had to be, to play his licks. One of my Heros.

  • We need him playing more of that National.

  • Quite possibly the best Bluesman of all time!! A blues classic..past but not forgotten by blues purists!!
