I thought this game sucked! It came out only a year after the first game and you can tell because the game feels rushed. It had some good elements to it but the story was weak and there was just too many glitches that ruined the experience for me.
Well, this game I really enjoyed, it had a really dark plot, rather then the first one where you played the hero, the second felt much more, as if you're just surviving rather than saving, I definitely preferred the first one, but the second didn't do a bad job of living up to it, except the ending, it was an enormous cliffhanger, and I hope one day we find out what happens.
Obsidian is good at making sequels to games that other developers made that look and fell the same but tend to have a weaker but more complex story lines and few game play tweaks.
There was this cave on Dantooine, where you could fight those insects over and over again to boost the skills and your level generally. So finally one could master many skill and become almost a perfect fighter. I don't think it was a glitch.
There was this cave on Dantooine, where you could fight those insects over and over again to beest the skills ans your level generally. So finally one could master many skill and become almost a perfect fighter.
@Zenithnoon12 The problem with those dragons however was that you couldn't come and go as you please, because both ways were sealed as that was during a quest/mission. There was no team help as the player is alone I believe.
I don't know why they said you can't tell the difference between KOTOR and KOTOR II because you definitely can. I mean Obsidian tried their hardest to develop the game like Bioware, and they came close, but the incomplete/confusing/anticlimactic story line is a clear cut difference between KOTOR and KOTOR II. Though I will admit, I wish some of the features of KOTOR II (like turning your crew into jedi) would have been in the original.
Unfortunately, what seems like a natural opportunity to extend the experience of the Clone Wars cartoon series turns out to be wasted in every way. The controls, level design, camera direction and AI in this game are all so painfully bad that I'm actually a little surprised it got past the quality control department at LucasArts.
For there first game, Obsidian did a outstanding job. Creating a sequel to a epic game by BioWare was a tough job, the sequel would of almost topped the first one if goddam LucasArts hadn't cut so much. But never the less, this is still a kick-ass game.
Can we fucking stop talking about graphics when a game is over 5 years old please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for swearing, but it's so annoying!!! Compare with other games that came out the same year maybe - but that should be it!!!!!!!!!

Are you saying a reviewer should only choose either "the good points" or the "bad points " on a game? I believe someone who does a review is supposed to talk about the good aspects of the game AND the bad, which may include something he/she doesn't like.
For starters, the KoToR series are the greatest games ever created. The story is utterly emersive and engaging, and the rpg style combat is just downright awesome (considering that both games are on the original xbox). As a hardcore kotor veteran, kotor was a gift and curse in the same package. it is unmatched in its ability to make you feel epic, but it also left you with a HUGE clifhanger. We need to know if the exile joins revan in the battle against the "true sith" in the outer rim
@gnkVLCT i heard the pc runs real smooth, but if u go to the xbox forums and look it up, youll see that the game on the xbox has HORRIBLE frames, i love the game, but the fighting is unbelievably choppy and it just really ruins the games experience, i become dissapointed when i see others play it so smoothly on pc, or even xbox, :( o well nothin i can do but make the best and enjoy it!!!!!
I have played this game through must be about 5 times now with different classes and the storyline is really good and seeing as I have been a Star Wars freak for a while now I got the story more than I would if just by playing the game. I really love the two of them so now they are really cheap and I suggest that you play them because they are both amazing games.
i like this one better than the first because you can go higher than level 20 and get more force powers. the graphics are pretty bad and the storyline is very confusing unless you are a kotor veteran, like none of my friends get it except me. but this is my favorite game ever 10 out of 10 for me. but again it took me two years to finally get the story.
@lorndarken okay so i dont want to sound like a nerd here but the story is basically that you are a jedi who followed revan into the war and because of that the jedi council exils you but they never really took away your force so you give up your light saber and your on the ebon hawk after a big battle so t3-m4 lands the ship on perauges or how ever you spell it and you mett an old woman who gose on your team and in the end turns on you some people from kotor like t3-m4 and hk-47 join you
Agreed. If you want to see the great graphics of this game (not only you, but anyone), mikeyzxc2 has a walkthrough in fantastic quality. Check it out!
@GingerKibble, I thought both of the storys were great....Dont wont to ruin the story to any body who aint played the game but's i think the second game has more of a darker plot :)
I love Star Wars in all it's glory and it's what has brought me here but I am not a big fan of turn based RPG's so I am not sure if I should get this any advice?
The story of Kotor 2 left me wanting more... I was on the edge of my seat for a good portion of the first game, and the "twist" left my jaw on the floor... the second game, I didn't care as much about what was going on, not to mention the ending was just WEAK, and the game was extremely buggy. There were some improvements to the gameplay, and i love influencing followers, but it didn't match the first. It would have benefited from a few more months in development to iron out the wrinkles.
bioware is making an mmo called "star wars: the old republic". It's not really based on the game, it just takes place in the same time period. Lol I just got this game.... never played the first... Why was I exiled? Why I am I suppsed to find some jedi people? How do I find a lens to make a Lightsaber?!?! This game has me confused...
This game and the first one are the best on the xbox. :D I love both the first is the best but the II is pretty good but sadly it was butchered and prevented from being great
If you buy the two games at the same time rather than having waited a year for the sequel most of the flaws discussed in this review fade away, the similar gameplay and graphics etc, Just pretend its one long game.
I too agree that the story of sith lords is way more better than the first one..kotor 2 the sith lords has the greatest story ever made..i beat many times these games(kotor and kotor 2 tsl)..in the beggining i too thought that the first is better but when I played the second time the sith lords i've changed my mind and understand the story in a more deep level..no hard feelngs but both the games are epic just the second one is better
My Character is A Bearded Man Named JENKINS, a Light side Jedi Gaurdian and A Jedi Master who tries to help anybody who needs it for the good of the them and everyone else. He has a Green double-bladed lightsaber and uses it to drive away the dark side of the force in anyway necessary. What is your character ???? (anybody can answer this question)
In the beginning you are DESPERATE to find out who you are and what exactly is happening. This keeps you playing the game for hours without end. Unfortunately, I was a BIT disapointed with the end. It just didn't seem to satisfy what I was feeling earlier on in the game. Despite that, the climax is still nice and fun, along with the rest of the game. Definately a MUST for any Star Wars fans, and even if you aren't a Star Wars fan I'm sure you'll like the game. Enjoy! =D
Whether you like this game depends largely on what your tastes are when it comes to story. I loved this game because it was similar to the first one, only with greater philosophical debt. My brother, on the other hand, found the philosophy to be tiresome. In my opinion, it's a worthy successor to the original - but your mileage may vary.
i beat the first. i liked the story but i heard mixed reactions to this story. i prefer smart and philisophical stories. would you say this was superior to the first?
Well, it is more philosophical and thought-provoking. Be warned, though - they really weren't given enough time to close things out. If they had, it most certainly would have been considered a masterpiece.

I tried first one. But not into rpg(kinda) really anymore. I guarantee you, you don't need to buy the first in order to get whats going on in the second. The game would otherwise flunk. They always have to take into account people like you, who never played the first game.

Oh man, are you in for one heck of a good game! The first one was good but I really enjoyed the feel of the second one. And the new features like decisions effecting your party's alignment and being able to switch weapons during combat are great!
My only problem with TSL is it didn't feel like it was finished...

I loved the gameplay of kotor II and the story was good, but I always wanted to play as revan again.
it would have been more...I don't know. It would havre been nice to see how revan dealt with his jedi master.
Plus you could explain the whole resetting the skill thing. The true sith could have drained his skills or something.
still It's a good game and I would definetly recomend it, though play through kotor 1 first, or you'll find it difficult to understand
