Moved my Pagefile, saved 6GB on my SSD. Fuckin' solid. Also,Disable hibernation on SSD if you never hibernate your desktop (which you shouldn't since SSD's boot up so fast anyway). It saved me 8GB.
I would never in a million years get rid of system restore. Yes it's rarely used but it sure is nice to have it as an option if something comes up where you need it. Is there anyone out there who has not found it to be quite helpful at one time or another?
If you have to regularly utilise the page file then you havent enough RAM.
The page file should be stored on your SSD as its much much faster than your HDD, so when you are using the pagefile more, you wont have the bottleneck when accessing your HDD.
Temp folders and page / swap files should be moved off of a Solid State Drive. Not because they take up too much space, but because they constantly write data to the drive. This wears out the solid state drive a lot faster than it would a mechanical drive. Do your research before attempting this. (Uninformed youtube videos do not count as research.)

My problem is my C drive's space is decreasing automatically I didnt download any thing for example if my C drive's space is 15.6 it will 15.5 after few moments... & it is decreasing continuously yesterday i have 15.9 then after few mints it becomes 15.2 gb... please help me if any one know about this problem plz... i will be very thankful to you...
You could move system restore to another drive too. I have my first SSD coming to me soon (just a Kingston SSDNow V100 64GB desktop kit) and have a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB currently.
Up until recently (upgraded my CPU and motherboard) I used to have my pagefile and system restore points stored on a 400GB HDD IDE drive.
Iff you are using an SSD at all you should be smart enough to realise folks. That using a pagefile on it will burn it out quicker. The drive has a lifespan of XX amount of writes to it. Thus using it like its ram is reserved for a 20gb+ SSD with that info that it WILL die fast but its like adding 20gb of cheap ram.
NEVER use your main ssd with a pagefile. You do not need pagefile. It was used when machines used less ram and ram was expensive. Now just about anyone should have atleast 4gb of it.
@Felizais get more ram they only cost 20 dollars for one stick-.- but your processor is good dont change that beacuse anything over 2.00 ghz is good and also get a new graphics card but if you already have one thats good for gaming than keep it, just upgrade the RAM then its easy
@Felizais I just checked mine, it says I use 2462MB. I know for a fact this is not true because TreeSize recognizes the pagefile when I have it enabled, and once I reduce it or remove it from the SSD, the space is available for use and doesnt show up on TreeSize
@TheMortalpain At this point he'd more likely better off just saving up for a whole new rig. If he's running 512MB with a 3.33GHz CPU my guess is he's on a Pentium 4 or something so he's probably running DDR1, which will be a pain in he ass to find and rather expensive if he does lol.
OR if you are like me who has 16GB of ram with a 120gb ssd and another 750gb hdd then you just chill and do what you gotta do. Oh did I mention that I have all that in my laptop? Yes I'm a bawss....oh don't even make me start talking about my desktop wooo hehe
You dont want to move your page file off the SSD, why? Because your SSD is faster than your HDD and no matter what, you need to have page file enabled. I have 8 gigs of ram, so what I have done (with possitive results) is minimized the page file to 512MB both min and max on SSD. now the system access my ram rather than my pagefile, and if it does access the page file, the system will remain fast since my SSD is fast. Page file n HDD is BAD idea since W7 will access the page file at one point.
I fully agree. SSD's are perfect for page files and setting it to a set maximum size that you're comfortable with stops Windows from fiddling with it all the time.
With an SSD's access times why would anyone want to even consider using an HDD for anything other then storage?
@WishingForSerenity I'd read that leaving page file enabled shortens the SSD lifespan, and certainly makes it slower over time. Other things I'd read that kill / slow down the SSD - overclocking the CPU, defragging and sleep / hibernation. A very picky piece of hardware indeed , lol.
I shut Page Filing off when I had my old PC (2006- 2011) and I didn't encounter any problems, but that was with WinXP. I had 320GB WD SATAII, Pentium D 940e, 4gb RAM, Nvidia 7900GS.
Depends on your total ram. I have 8 gigs so I lowered it to 250mb. The more you have the less likely you are to run out of ram while running programs and causing a crash.
The best option is to move the location of pagefile to another drive that isn't an SSD, and you can leave it at the default amount.

Another reason why you would disable or remove these things, is that writing wears on a SSD more than reading.

Disabling system restore and the page file alltogether are both terrible ideas.

if you have more than 6gb of ram you can disable it completely to speed up your harddrive. I have 12gb so I just turned it off

Dont disable the page file. Its there for a reason.
Read more at lifehacker, they have a nice writeup of it. I cant paste a link unfortunately. But google "dont disable pagefile" and youll find it.

@mengilify I've actually moved my pagefile to my HDD, but I had it disabled for a good 6 months and had no problems with it.
