I'm old, fat and I drive a small engined bimmer .. and if you look closely you'll see that several of the shots in this clip are NOT an M5 ... look at the front bumpers and the rear under-bumper skirts on the silver e39s .. one is definitely an M5 - one is definitely not .. no prizes for the ones who spot the difference.
There's a reason they call BMW the "ultimate driving machine". I've had a Corvette, Viper and other sports cars and we LOVE our BMW M3 330i performance package with carbon fiber trim inside. BMW's are so fun to drive and just have class all their own. Thanks for putting this on. My son, especially LOVES it. He's "Mr Car & Driver"
I want a BMW when im 18, i am 15 1/2 now, and cant wait till im 16 to drive my fathers BMW M3 CSL, but on my 18th hes buying me a 2002 M5 i so cant waitt!!!!uggh!
I have 23 years old, and i had an ML320, 323i, 328ci, Z4 amd i actually drive an Porsche Cayenne Turbo, but nothing compares to BMW!! Greeeat!! Congratulations on your M5!!
The stunt driver acts like doing a forward or reverse 180 spinout is difficult, or that it can only be easily done in a BMW. That's not true! I taught myself at 16 how to do both of these things on low tech '70's cars. You just have to learn in a big parking lot and practice.
Incorrect. The stunt driver clearly states that the 180 is 1) difficult because 2) the 7-series is the largest and heaviest vehicle in the family. In addition, the movie budget does not allow for numerous realistic practice sessions in the cars themselves. The shot has to be complete within that very day so there is minimal practice time. Brag less. Listen more.
Actually, the stunt driver 'clearly states' that the reverse 180 is hard BECAUSE you have to be careful not to spin it too much "or you do a 360". Then said a fwd 180 was hard because the BMW was built to stick, not slide.
Anyway, 70s cars are bigger and heavier than a 740i, so snowrocket is saying the weight is a non-issue. BTW, he's not bragging - read some of the other posts for this clip. And, a rev 180 is easier than a fwd 180. When you get your licence, go to an empty lot and try it.
"Weight is a non-issue." Interesting. You just invalidated the foundations of weight transfer severity in the Skip Barber racing school curriculum. I think my fishing license will do just fine, thank you.

Yup, but that's simply because the E39 5er is from another movie 'The Chosen'.
