Really? I wish K2 could comment and say which is the best for this. I am pretty set on going to college for mechanical engineering but it would be nice if they could shed some light on the subject
I would think Material Sciences would be a bit more helpful than a ME degree. I know Pitt's ME program is though the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Sciences department so many I'm way off base.
not everybody wants a stiff powder board, and not everybody lives by a huge mountain with a lot of powder, jib stick are great for kids like me who ride in minnesota, who only have park to ride..?
i grew up in the midwest and would ride hard carving boards there and then in the 90's the nice freestyle stuff came out. you guys do need jib sicks there because of the terrain and snow. pow boards are usually really soft.
the hard midW snow requires a board that can take some abuse so you may want to consider something made by a ski company or pure snowboard company not located in china.
you should check out a twin tip nitro. you would never go back to a K2

Chinese skis and snowboards are garbage and this can be proven, Just ask someone who works in the industry or makes a living at skiing or snowboarding.

Chemical Engineering is apparently very important to snowboard design. They use a lot of resins and such.

i have been riding for 20 years and owned a shop in the past. I will never ride a board made in china. i never sold them either.
R&D is cool and all but most all you see anymore is a bunch of stupid little jib sticks made for the lowest common denominator.
try a board made in canada, usa or europe.. you would be surprised how much better quality ingredients and personal attention makes the board.
