her black swan is UGHMAZING!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT!!! but to me her white swan was jus blah...but thats jus me!!! but i thought she was supposed to jump off a cliff and kill herself???

Vladimir Bourmeister is best remembered for his 1953 production of Swan Lake which—controversially—used Tchaikovsky's score in its original sequence and restored cuts that had been made to the music. This production was introduced to the West when his company visited Paris in 1956; he then revived it for the Paris Opera in 1960. He became the first Soviet choreographer allowed to work with a Western company when he was invited to choreograph The Snow Maiden (mus. Tchaikovsky) for London.
Thank you for this - although I would not normally seek to watch a non-Russian version, I am interested in this production. Is it just me or is the Jester really unpleasant in this staging (no reflection on the dancer!)? Also, the mother looks almost younger than her son!
@mrlopez2681 Thanks. LOL I am obviously having a bad, paranoid, angry day - just looking at the titles sequence on mute has put me off watching it, forever.

@MrGlennCody hehe! i think, zakharova is the white swan. Perfect performance in my opinion with the highlight Odette's coda.
And i like the Bourmeister choreographie, cause it has a happy ending :)

@Leirix61 i thought she was both the black and the white???

@MrGlennCody sure she dances odette and odile, but i prefer the white swan. I am a good guy :)

This one has a happy ending? In the version I saw they both died at the end.

Can't get over Bolle's onstage presence. Very prince-like indeed.

@oldoperafan - the entire production is unpleasant. Horrid staging & choreography that is a waste of time.

If costumes are of any importance/interest to you, I highly recommend this production. The costumes are fantastic.
