Britt was awesome both with Ellington and the 70s Toshiko big band. Duke could practically have given him Cat Anderson's lead trumpet parts (that's the 3rd E flat above middle C that he closes with--not the "microphonics" of some latter-day trombonists but a "true" sound, as big and forward as Al Grey's. So many overlooked giants like him--Jimmy Cleveland, Frank Rehak, Lawrence Brown, Carl Fontana. (Now all you hear is Curtis Fuller or the sea shell guy--neither elevating the instrument.)
I wish I could play trombone. But I've played sax and clarinet for three years trombone is a little bit cooler. But I still love the insturments I play, I just want to learn how to play a brass or string insturment
Thank you to whoever posted this. This is my great Uncle Britt and I am putting together a history book for my children and found this posting to share with my children.

One of the most underrated of Duke's Bones. You can't help but feel good listening to it, no matter what mood you're in.
