What?! Harry potter leading kids to witchcraft....that's like transformers making kids want to be robo.......oh piss wait........anyways cliffer is a hefto clobbermack! Proper toy!!!! :) Great stuff pal and ta for the very kinds words
although he is sort of close in colour I always wanted a sandstorm repaint of this mold, the beachcomber re-paint is okay but it doesnt really suit the character too well.
Funnily, I don't have a single figure from Energon, and never have. I watched the show a lot when it was first on, but there was never a toy I wanted from that line. But I do remember that Cliffjumper's début episode in the show was the first time I heard the name 'Cliffjumper'.
For me, I was hooked the moment I saw the prototype images of the original Masterpiece Convoy.
And yes, he was in the show, at least in Super-Link. Had a weird speech issue with using english terms while speaking japanese of course, which meant some of his speech was not understood by the rest of the cast.
I think Rhinox got me back in to Transformers. But seen as I must have been about 20 at the time I'd say I had never been that far away from them. Beast Wars and Student Loan was a fearful combination.
The Energon line seemed to emanate G1 rather closely - as the designs were often inspired yet not entirely successful; and it referenced more Generation 1 characters in its toys than any other line in the Unicron trilogy. Oh, and also, good plastic!
Sublime review Ray. I must make an effort to own this bot now.
You & me are alot alike with getting back into collection TF's, Ray. I to forgot how very much I loved TF's, once I saw Classics Ops Prime it was all down hill from there.
I have to agree on the leg problems. I don't own the figure, but after seeing reviews on this guy I kinda had my doubts. I still like this figure all and all. Sweet review and keep up the awesome. :)
Now you have given me a very good idea for my next review. I will do the TF that got me back into collecting. Not the one that got bought for me, but the one I bought on my own, that started what I can only describe as my decent in plastic hording.
The figure that brought me back to transformers? Voyager Animated Grimlock when I was 20-21. It was a slow trickle for a while, one figure here and there. Then Bludgeon came out and all hell broke loose, lol
I had loads of Transformers as a kid, and loved them. I stopped just after the Headmasters came out and the smaller Targetmasters. Then I visited a shop near my parents and saw Classics Sunstreaker, and he was closely followed by Classics Octane/Tankor... and that was it. I was off the wagon for good!
started collecting when i was five im 21 almost 22 you would think my collection would be huge but certian mishaps here and there caused it to dwindle quite a bit but i still have chunks of lines here and there so im pretty well off
interesting that you said you kinda forgot about liking TFs. Mirrors my own experience pretty much. I always liked them since ´87 until the middle of G2, but then came back into it in 2005. I think everything you *really* liked as a kid, kinda stays with you in some ways.
By the way, after you got back into collecting what were the first Transformers you went out to get?
I went nuts with it and bought reissue Predaking and G1 Shockwave in the first week.
Voyager Optimus from the first movie line brought me back to transformers in 2009. I was impressed with how far the toys had come since i last held one so I got a couple more, and then i couldn't stop getting them. most of those I did have when younger had been broken to pieces as they made their way through three younger brothers. its nice to be young again even if only in your head.
Since 1984, I never really stopped collecting, though after G2 it dropped off considerably to where during the entire Beast era (including Machine Wars) I only bought a total of 10 bots. It was RID that got me interested again and RID Prowl was the bot that brought me back as a dedicated collector.
Deluxe Universe Smokescreen was the bot that brought me back to collecting Transformers. a few years ago when I was in my early 30's. I am glad I rediscovered my love of bots. Granted, I don't have tons of bots, but I do love the ones I do have. It is good to be back in the habit. One of the first bots I bought after I started collecting again was a reissue Sideswipe to replace the original 'Swipe I had as a kid. I have not looked back since.
I wasn't aware that the toy was so big. He's a nice chunky bot, isn't he? His shirt and trousers modes look quite nice, for the most part. The kibble on the shirt sleeves is a bit odd though. I was looking at his different configurations at TFU.INFO , and some are hilariously bad. I find that the Jetfire, Rodimus, Ironhide and Beachcomber toys make the best pair of trousers. Probably due to them being more in scale to Cliffjumper.
@pathosis (continued) I take it back on the Rodimus trousers. Too stubby. Also, while we're on trousers-mode, Cliffjumper has a nice one himself, I think. Not much hanging on the sides. Looks quite good with the taller fellows.
Great video Ray, as usual. I do not knwo why I keep passing on this guy, I must get him if I see him again. Thanks for the mention, BTW, I was shocked that I got the Tuesday 5ATG spot. As for me, I was 11 when Transformers first hit stores, back in 1984. I got back into them hardcore when I bought the Classics Jetfire when it came out. :)

i didnt start hardcore collecting until just before the 2007 movie came out, so that movie's Leader Prime was what fully brought me back to the toys
