Well, I live in Illinois & they do post figures on deer populations yearly. The # of white tailed deer grows exponentially every year & it's obvious by the how many you see splattered on the road even in the neighborhoods of Chicago. Sanctioned hunting by skilled hunters is a humane & fair way to thin out the ranks. I don't hunt myself, but see no problem with it especially since venison is much more enviromentally sound source of meat than cows.
