  • terrible video

    but the song is good.

  • is like an acid triipp tsss

  • i like this song toooo

  • datamoshing is great but im gunna make it better by using different techniques aswell.

  • is the video suppose to be fucked up?

  • It's supposed to be messed up, yes. They just removed the "scene change" frames in the video to make it appear as if a face was created out of the scenery and started talking. It's also what happens when you seek (mostly rewind) in badly-coded MPEG files on your computer. :)

I love the effect, it's so nice!

  • i dont know, but it looks great.

  • Yes, it is. it is called datamoshing.

  • i see surrealism everywhere these days... O__O

  • Acid trips are so much better.

  • WOW!!!! Awesome VIDEO.XXXXX LOVE & HUGS, grandmafottz.xxxxxxooooo

  • omigosh the vidoe for this is hella trippy! Good song :P

  • Haha, this video reminds me of how I feel on shrooms.

  • i thought my computer was broken XD

  • This video is like a moving impressionist painting.

  • lsd trip

  • I love this song, I can listen to it on repeatly over and over which I never have done before.

  • O_o wooo

  • i love caroline!!

  • really really awesome video, really really mediocre song

  • Maybe you should pick up the pencil and write to him, instead of flaunting around in front of him trying to get him to notice you. Gender roles are so 1800s.

  • You are so right.

  • this is really amazing, especially when you think about what it is. it's essentially overlaying the motion of one scene on the image of another. who would even think such a thing would be possible? but by removing frames/keyframes from a video, and we arrive there from a completely unexpected direction, thanks to the coincidental way motion compression works. and the result is visually just amazing. this video uses it very well also, with the sweeps and clearing and things.

  • This video is so cool. It must have took them so long to map out the pixels of it and to match up the scenes so that they could flow into each other. You guys don't know how much work this video took to finish. Try doing on of these your self

  • Actually, it should be quit easy because anyone who works with video compression see this type of artifact all the time -- removing compressed video frames / keyframes and having the video codec try to compensate. However, this is the first time anyone made art from it... which is revolutionary.

  • David OReilly was using video compression artefacts for stylist and artistic purposes as early as 2005.

  • thanks for the info!

  • Whooooooooooaaaaa duuuude. Am I tripping?

  • trippppppy

  • Is this broadcast via satellite, I'm getting late feed? Is it me or this is girl so very charming?

    ;)

  • That is so clever. It makes me really want to see the un-glitched footage, to figure out how they matched certain edits with the glitching so they morph into one another so cleverly.

  • I know. It is a shame. Oh well

  • Shutup loser.

  • Jesus Christ... why do you even care what I think? Don't let it get to you, man.

  • kinda cool, kinda reminds me of when i get a migraine too. do love the song tho

  • this is incredible.i love it!! art at its finest1

  • so they made of music video completely out of artifacting glitches? or is this just a trip down memory lane with my first graphics card?

  • amidoinitrite? ▲

    ▲▲

  • cool :) i think ill check them out a Lolla now.

  • Love The Video Love The Song.

Reminds Me Of "Say What" By 3 Non Blondes.

  • wait. did mgmt or chairlift do this song first? who covered who?

  • MGMT remixed it, not covered it.

  • And to think Kanye west did this idea first lol. Never heard of this band but i like the song. She sounds like Bjork,,anyway. Kanye West did a song using similar stuff in his video. Its called "Welcome to Haert break".

  • durrr, no he didn't. same directing team collaborated on both which is a ripoff of crap done years ago.

  • kanye didnt do it first dumbass

  • That video is weird... but nice... LoL... I liked the song!

  • this video reminds me of all the good things in the 90's :]

  • Ugh, I see what they did there, and it was a good effort, but all it ended up doing was giving me a headache. I hate video lag and I kept trying to correct it until I realized it was part of the video.

  • that was awesome the end especially

  • let me tell you ... this is one of the greatest music videos around. I wish chairlift the best with their musical work. there are people out here who are starving for originality!

  • I love this song!!

  • this is very appealing and she is adorable

  • this music video needs LSD.

    serious eye fuckage.

this song is my fav from them :(

  • this is really cool how they go to a different scene and then move the visual like... it still has depth. lol- idk if thats like layered green/bluescreen but it is REALLY a great visual

  • hd wow amazing vid

  • so trippy

  • I watched this on mushrooms.

    omg

  • lol think theres enough data mosh?

  • zomg! that's a girl!?

  • who did this video? the same director as kanye's "Welcome To Heartbreak"?

  • never thought a song about a pencil would be fucking awesome

  • love it!

  • Caroline Polachek, you are beautiful, and I love your work. I want to have your love child.

Also, datamosher, I think you are a virtuoso of video editing and keyframe omission. I want to have your love child too.

  • love children all round :D

  • how much are you willing to pay for child support

  • I'm so utterly confused now.... this is my 4th time watching it. Wow. Going to watch it again now.

  • I watched this on shrooms. I cant even begin to describe how amazing it was.

  • this copied kanye? i heard not so.

i also heard kanye is a fucking gay fish.

  • HA!

  • actually kanie west saw this video and copied it!

  • Actually this style of video is called data moshing. Nobody copied anyone. Look it up.

  • mm.. but who was the first vid director to use these glitches in music videos?

  • uhh this copied welcome to heartbreak!! really cool though it gave me a headace!!

  • actually this came out before kanyes, so no . . .

  • So cool. :D Great song, too.

  • i love this beyond so many words right now.

  • woah.

  • nicely shaped body from :17-:21

  • ok ok did kanye bite off dis video or did this video bite off kanye im confused lol

  • this vid was produced before kanye's but data moshing (the trippy technique) has been around for a long time... so no bitin' I'd say.

  • what is the earliest example you can find?

  • I can't site you a specific example, but I can tell you that the software needed has been in existence for some time. But as you can see, people are getting really good with it.

  • Keep listening to Jonas Brothers and Avril Lavigne tool.

  • WTF? Who invented datamosh, a schizophrenic?

  • She has some kind of gaze!.. I feel if she looked at me I would be reduced to dust. or..... worms

  • MGMT's Time to pretend haha! Great song, great video

  • yeah they have the same director, ray tintori . . .

he also directed the killers "spaceman" and mgmt's electric feel and hes directing mgmt's "kids" video . . .

hopefully it will be even half as trippy as this!!

    i cant wait!!

  • great song. great video.
