It has tranny issues, but there's no issues with the engine. It's a very straight-forward swap if you junk the EVAP and EGR. One other thing you will need is an RPM switch or a V-AFC or something that can open up the variable intake @ 5000rpm. If you use the 00/01 injectors, you'll need to get a tune with the VAFC and remove excess fuel because the DE-K injectors flow more. It'll run pig rich if you don't tune it.
Changing from the DE to the DE-K did you just change the motor or hafta change the computer too?? Been thinking pretty hard bout building an NA DE-K but wasnt sure if I needed to change the ECU. Going Emanage later so.....lol
I swapped the motor, but you can just swap the intake manifolds and fuel system. I kept the original ECU. In fact, going to the 2000 ECU will net zero benefit and would be a nightmare because of the chipped ignition key. If you live in an area where there's emissions inspections, then there's a little more work to do with routing the EVAP and EGR lines. I eliminated EVAP and EGR on my car.
Engine cost $250 from a junkyard and I put it in myself in a day. If you have a good running engine, I wouldn't swap out the entire motor, but just the intake manifold and injectors.
So how's it running now? No problems?

A side benefit of getting a tune and removing excess fuel is that it also advances ignition timing.

How much was it to swap in the de-k because I want to do it myself on my 97 maxima
