That's the point. People relate to Michael because he takes everyday moments and turns them into comical jokes. Michael bases his jokes from real life and that's why people like him so much. One liners, not so much. They are good but they are too short and irrelevant.

It took me a little while i have to admit to get used to MM and his style, but i think that is something that happens with all comedians who set a new standard. As far as i can tell at the moment he is streets ahead of the game when it comes to telling a story, which is essentially what makes a gag a good one, and tying it all up at the end. He doesn't tell jokes, but delivers fantastically well observed and well prepared satire! Eddie Izzard was king at this!

I couldn't disagree more. I happen to like Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Frankie Boyle and Jason Manford, but saying that only the latter three are 'real comedy' is stupid. Just because you don't like his style of comedy doesn't mean it's any less important. And of all the comedians I know, Lee Evans laughs at his own jokes most (he even gets laughs out of his laughter) so that is a weak argument.

You say that Michael Mac isn't "proper" comedy because he doesnt generally use punchlines, but that's bollucks. He bases his humour around clever irony, the funny voices and impressions are just to appeal to a wider audience, when his humour is rather less infantile than most comedians around today. It takes far more skill to tell a funny story using satire and irony than it does just ti list off jokes like most comedians do. The delivery is everything, and on that Macintyres second to none.
