@natenation Thye cannot afford to have more babies. Many young people in Europe can barely afford to sustain themselves, let alone a relationship with a partner or a family. Spain has 45% youth unemployment. Not much hope of them marrying young and starting a family. And the Euro zone is now on a path to dramatically cutting social welfare spending.

@glasavvatten Actually population forecasts are some of the most reliable we can make since fertility trends change slowly. But I do agree that some of Russia's main drivers of population decline are emigration and that could change very quickly, invalidating this forecast.
There are already too many humans on the planet. If our numbers do not decrease naturally (lower fertility rate), it will only lead to war over quality resources (like water) in the future.

You cannot HAVE racial "purity" without a significant decline in human health. A gene pool absolutely requires enough diversity to avoid collective genetic incest and stagnation.

@glasavvatten Actually population forecasts are some of the most reliable we can make since fertility trends change slowly. But I do agree that some of Russia's main drivers of population decline are emigration and that could change very quickly, invalidating this forecast.

Population decline is a good thing.
There are already too many humans on the planet. If our numbers do not decrease naturally (lower fertility rate), it will only lead to war over quality resources (like water) in the future.
