  • I don't consider a law allowing a murder with premeditated malice (which certainly defines execution, based on the comments and actions of its supporters) to be valid. There are witnesses to the first-degree murder involved, and even a signed confession, so I don't see why the executioner should not be put to death right after his/her victim.

  • Thank you for your opinion, iamjumbo. It is certainly no more than that, and the rudeness and unnecessary vulgarity of it tends to cancel out most of your moral authority. Just because the law says something is correct does not necessarily make it so. Just because you don't think the dictionary definition of murder applies to the world does not mean I don't. It's really not your place to decide whether my view is imbecilic. You have not had my experiences or observations.

  • Disturbing and perfect music!

«And a rich man never dies upon the chair!»

  • I didn't look at the scenario. I don't really 'do' scenarios. My reaction to 'what if it was someone in your family?' would be (mostly jokingly): 'Where can I hire this person to do it?' But my REAL response would be: 'I would hope I would realize I couldn't be objective, and remove myself from the decision process.' If I were in a situation where I had to kill someone who broke in, it might be justified murder - but it would still be murder.

  • @Timmybear that is certainly an imbecilic comment. murder is the UNLAWFUL killing of another. in civilization, it is never unlawful to kill a worthless piece of shit breaking into your house, nor, under ANY circumstance, could it ever be morally wrong.

  • RIP Troy Davis.

  • wow....

  • Protest the planned execution of Troy Davis in Georgia, USA !!! Look for petitions on the web!

    r.i.p Lee

  • its a preditory planet the killing will never stop and all the bleeding hearts wont be able to do nothing but cry about im sorry thats not what you want to hear im not happy with it either but every life form on this planet kills for dominance or self preservation as in food ! so complaine if you must but its a fruitless endevour for you !

  • I just love all the niggers and beaners on this post that speak as if they had studied "Hooked on Phonics" for years. Hell, even an ape can play one note on the piano. And as to the disproportion of application, certain shades of color are 12% of the population, but commit 50% of crime. So until you folk can convince your brothers to quit killing one another, don't expect much "change", to paraphrase Obama.

  • she sctually gets paid for making that noise?

  • @59cva you really can't hear anything can you - she has range power, she has feeling, subtlety which would cream anything on Idol, xfactor anything in showtime, anything in rock even- and quite possibly alot of classical singers.

  • @59cva

I wish you'd get paid for your comment, at least there would be a practical reason for you not managing to appreciate the magnificence of this piece of music.

  • @59cva There's a philistine among us.

  • this song is absolutely incredible

  • i love her too... i had the honor to exchange a few post with her a bit on her official facebook page.. but of course.. crappy ass people had to ruin her page with a bunch of sh**t talk.

  • Very powerful and unique voice. I love it! Does anyone know where I can buy a download of this song with Galas? I haven't been able to find it myself.

  • @natgizzer go to her official site.. u can download it there, and buy all her albums there too!

  • @natgizzer i think it is on the soundtrck of the movie monster

  • I have a quote to offer the people who are saying that we who do not recognize Diamanda's talent because we are ignorant and not sophisticated enough to do so: "Never mistake lack of talent for genius"

  • @Madams1977If your arguments are superior to mine, then state them. And please dispense with the ad hominem prattle. My grammar is just fine, even if I make the odd spelling faux pas. Was I rude to you with my first comment? No I wasn't, so why were you rude to me? Sometimes I wonder what all this 'cyber anonymity' is doing to our social skills. I'll tell you what, you lay off the childish name calling, and I'll watch my grammar. Deal?

  • @pillsareyummy Did you know that one side effect of pill addiction is paranoia and persecution complex? Also short term memory loss can occur. Also, I am a very outspoken person in the community here about the death penalty. Now, once you can correctly read, understand, and respond to my initial comment we can resume this discussion.

  • Great!!!

  • Not recognizing the sublime nature of Diamanda's offerings upon first exposure is understandable. Inability, or unwillingness to soak in it a bit before final assessment is self defining as it should be.

  • It is..... no...

    I'm out of words.....

  • Ughh.. another person with that nasally whining singing voice. Great until she tries to go above her range. I fully support being against the DEATH penalty though. But not for the same reason. It's not murder to execute someone who is guilty. But it is murder to execute someone who is innocent. Not all homicide is deserving of death to the same degree either. Until we can utilize it properly I will be against the death penalty.

  • @Madams1977 If you take the life of another it's murder. It doesn't matter if they're guilty, what you're really saying is that killing killers is justice. What does it say for a society that preaches killing is wrong, then kills those who murder ? All the death penalty does is create even more misery and stress on the family of the killer. Should they also be punished, even if they had no role in the crime? And the fact that America still has the Death penalty, and is 'Christian', well...

  • @pillsareyummy Wow, lay off the pills. You couldn't have been more wrong about things. Killing and murder are not the same thing. If a person breaks into your home, holds you and your family at gunpoint, and you kill them, that is NOT murder. That is killing. Murder would be if that person had killed you and your family. Please read all of a post, stick to the point, and get help for your pill addiction before trying to form a coherent thought int he future.

  • Your first comment has to do with 'self defence' and isn't apropos to the retort I made regard your post. Also, ad hominem statements don't do much for your arguments, (and you make comments regarding 'coherent thought', go figure...). If you want to debate fine, however if you're going to be a 'mouth peice', fuck off...

  • @pillsareyummy Yikes. This is what I was telling you. Please, either get off of the pills or get onto the right ones. Maybe some that help your spelling and grammar. Unfortunately it is because most of the people who are against the death penalty are against it for illogical reasons (such as yourself) and do not even have the ability to distinguish murder from killing. While those of us who have logical arguments against it, such as myself, never get heard. Please again read before thinking.

  • @Madams1977 If you want to talk semantics, then I'll capitulate and state that murder is the 'unlawful taking of another'. Better? However, that wasn't by point. My point was that the death penalty causes MORE pain and misery to the families of the accused. How is that illogical? Are you saying that those accused of murder don't have others who care about them? Should they be punished as well? The pain and misery that is caused by a crime such as murder should be minimized; not the opposite.

  • @pillsareyummy Ok, there we go. Now we are at somewhat of the same conclusion. I agree that executing someone who is guilty of murder doesn't solve anything other than the fact that he or she will not kill again. Yes it does create additional pain to the family of the one executed as well. However, I think this is to a lesser degree than the pain they suffer from knowing that someone they love is a murderer. I also fully believe in the possibilities offered by rehabilitation.

  • @pillsareyummy AND, my comment that my response to you was concerning self DEFENSE. You stated that killing and murder are the same thing, and they are not. They are even defined differently in Webster's Dictionary (you know, the big heavy book holding your sofa up). You also went off from the main point by talking negative about Christians and America. Also, you mislabel my point as Ad Hominem, when clearly you are the one trying to make your point valid by tying it to a belief. Go back to bed.

  • @Madams1977 "Also, you mislabel my point as Ad Hominem, when clearly you are the one trying to make your point valid by tying it to a belief." Ad hominem fallacies have nothing to do with 'tying something to a belief', but rather attacking the arguer and not the argument. And you're lecturing me on grammar? I'm still waiting for your 'logical reasons' for capital punishment. Pleas, enlighten me.

  • @pillsareyummy Actually, the definition of Ad Hominem is is "an attempt to link the validity of a premise to a characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise". If this isn't the definition you intended then my apologies.

  • Oops, I meant 'Please, enlighten me.' Your superior intellect must be affecting my typing...

  • @pillsareyummy Again, if you go back and read my initial comment you will see that I am against the death penalty, not for it. My reasons, however, have to do not with the morality of executing the guilty, but with the inherent flaws in it's application. First, that with the corruption and ignorance in our justice system we can't be 100 percent sure that the person being put to death is truly guilty most of the time, and second, because of the unfair distribution of the sentence.

  • @Madams1977 technically, that's self-defense, and I do agree with you on that notion. I am also against the death penalty myself unless it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the person is guilty. IE: Video of that person uploaded to the 'net. There are definitely some folks that are deserving of the death penalty IE: Wang Jue, Wilana Joenelle Frazier, etc. But for the most part, I agree with you.

  • @MrRandomnessVids Thanks. This is the gray area that some people just can't see. And the guy who I was arguing with last year spouted mostly anti-Christian, anti-American propaganda rather than actual facts. Murder and killing are not the same thing, there is no debate on that.

  • @Madams1977 - Well, there clearly is a debate on that. If action 'a' is wrong, it is wrong in all of its manifestations. I am well aware that certain killing may not be prosecuted, but that doesn't make it right.

  • @Timmybear I agree. And after what they did to Troy Davis last night I feel even more strongly against the use of the death penalty in its current manifestation. My whole point is that the difference between murder and killing. This is the truth: All murder is killing, but not all killing is murder. I mean if you went through my "break in" scenario above, would you consider yourself a murderer? No. I'm anti death penalty, but wish that people wouldn't be so black and white about it. :-)

  • very very powerful

  • "and the richmen never die upon the chair"

    i love this woman.

  • People do not understand Diamanda's work because they just want beautiful things and her aesthetics is not the same. If you don't like go to play some pop music and leave us alone. We don't need more stupid opinions of ignorant people.

  • asdfasdf

  • CONTROL YOUR DAMN VIBRATO AND CONTROL YOUR VOWELS!!!! yeesh the lyrics are powerful enough, but the SINGING IS UNCONTROLLED!!!!

  • @madsketcher Vocal master? This woman has as much vocal control as a teen boy going through puberty in my opinion. Her lyrics are very good in my opinion.

  • @quinntissentialmusic Anybody who knows anything substantial about her work at all won't take comments like that seriously. You obviously know nothing of her background. She knows what she's doing, and I'll leave it at that.

  • The photo at 1:05 is of Willie Mae Bragg in Mississippi's portable electric chair, and may be a genuine execution. I have 2 more in the same set, showing him being jolted by the executioner.

  • I love this song and love Diamanda. I have seen her in concert twice. I think it is beautiful that she dedicated this to Aileen Wuornos - she was an amazing figure and an inspiration, who was wrongly executed :-(
