Search for Rumba at Wikipedia and it will provide you with this fact
Such a great description of cuban music.......Thank You!!Pero cono chico , si en Cuba se habla ESPANOL no Ingles, eres una patada en el Qlo, jajajaja Gracias por la informacion
Cuban Rumba can be broken down into three types:Yambú,Guaguancó and Columbia.Afro-Cuban rumba is entirely different than Ballroom Rumba,or the African style of pop music called rumba.Rumba developed in rural Cuba, and is still danced in Havana, Mantanzas and other Cuban cities as well as rural areas, especially those with a significant or predominant black community, although now it is infused with influences from Jazz and Hip Pop.Yes we have Yoruba religion in Cuba,Brazil, ect. But this is cuban
EXCELLENT COMMENT! ! I just wanted to say this too, but then I saw that you already wrote it down. Because some people make the mistake to compare ballroom Rumba with Cuban Rumba but that's really a different rhythm
In Cuban music, Rumba (span: Bohemian) a generic term covering a variety of musical rhythms and associated dances. The rumba has its influences in the music brought to Cuba by Spanish colonizers as well as Africans brought to Cuba as slaves. Rumba developed in the Cuban provinces of Havana and Matanzas in the late 19th century. As an energetic Afro-Cuban dance, Rumba was often suppressed and restricted because it was viewed as dangerous and lewd.Rumba is a Spanish word not a African one.More next
Rumba a spanish word hahaha. Where did you get your facts from. You most be a mestizo or white spaniard. Let black people enjoy their culture. Instead of trying to steal it.
The name "rumba" for this file is misleading. This is not rumba but actually one of the African-american (not US) Yoruba religious dances. It is part of ´Santeria´a set of rituals to worship the African God ´Changó´, god of masculinity, dance and fire. The film is superb, but the author should name it with the actual name.
Its some of the instructors that help you learn Salsa on the Key2Cuba dance holidays. Papito (in orange) is interestingly also a high priest (Babalou - Santaria), Lydia is a principal dancer in Raices Profundo, Cuba and the guy in the white hat is Juan Carlos. Find out more and book a dance holiday on the website of SalsaFever UK.

This is great! However, it's NOT rumba. The dancer's are doing the folkloric dances of Oricha's Changó and Ochún.....and dancing them beautifully!

Great observation...I just started to study about, and learn the dances of Ochun, and I have never felt more connected to a music...
