In terms of laddering I used to have trouble playing more than one game, but I've gotten through it entirely, and can play as many games as I want. One thing that helps is I play a round of songs in osu before I go on ladder, and always go on ladder after osu. By relating an easy fun game (that helps with mouse precision) with laddering it is easier to go on ladder.

For the map making contest they did have a tournament for 5k along with it. The fav maps that people had from that map contest were picked up for the new IPL. They actually were only going to pick 1 map but people did like how the 3 maps played so they picked up 3. They actually are pretty balanced looking I know they havent been played in GSL but they did get some competitive players playing on them and there were no real oh my god terran is imba on this map moments.
