They were officially brought to Calgary in May of 1981, I remember because I was at the Islanders Stanley Cup finals that year and they announced it on TV when I came home.
Mr.Scabania I think.
This is classic stuff though, Calgary Flames fans are great fans, Canadians are great fans and it was good to see them get another team.
The music heard in the background at the 0:45 mark was also heard in the 1981 James Bond 007 movie "For Your Eyes Only" (during the downhill ski sequence) and "Runaway with the Rich and Famous".
He Sure was...remember those days too...Saturday afternoons from the Victoria Pavillion...Angelo Mosca,Tiger Tomaso,Carlos Belefonte,Archie the Stomper..and many more...His famous line "Oh my, looks like there was a malfunction at the junction". Cant remember which wrestler it was who always said "No Chanceee Mr Whalen"...Might have been Fu Man Chu.
I've been looking for DVDs or recordings from the early 80's Flames on 2&7...cant seem to find any so far...would love to have a few games from those days with Ed Whalen calling the games.
Good luck on that. It's a shame the copywrite holders keep such a firm grip on classic stuff while giving us a steady diet of crap. I wish I had a Betamax then. I would have taped a ton of stuff!

Those Cooperalls were the worst idea ever.
The games looked like practice.

They used to show every home game on regular broadcast TV. What a time. RIP Ed Whalen.

Was this the game where Lanny McDonald missed a penalty shot against the late Pelle Lindberg?

@mrceebees14 It was 1980 and you're thinking of Nelson Skalbania.

@TTOMO Thanks for the correction of the spelling of the owner. But you are incorrect about the date, the deal was finalized in May of 1981.
