i would like to say thanks for your very good technique how to read and understand the note..i am really nothing..
i am a late music lover bcoz i am not a young anymore but at my age of 48 yrs old, i start to love the music especially listening the sound of a piano...ever since i never touch the keys of a piano bcoz i haven't much money to spend for this kind of instrument..in a long run after savings small amount then, i got one YAMAHA PRS-E373 which is enaugh to start learning alone..
I learned how to read sheet music in middle school when I was in choir. I never truly got it entirely because I always relied on the rest of the choir, so I decided to review the rules so i can truly understand. And this really helped me remember the stuff I've forgotten. Thanks for posting!
you can REALLY teach piano. there are a lot of videos on youtube of people trying to teach, but they fail while you succeed. great job. you dont know how much youve helped me
Okay so if you have sheet music, and the # is at the very beginning of the staff, then all notes on that line or space would be sharp. However, if the notes has a natural sign in front of it, the # is canceled for that note. Now if the note has a # directly in front of it like this #F, then only that note is sharp because the # is not at the very beginning of the staff.
thank you so much for giving up your time in order to teach us the newbs lol! im learning a lot from your videos and it's clearly understandable, unlike other vids i've looked up! again thanks a ton! ^_^
im guessing like you started like all of us who dont know how to play but want to learn, so are you able to play music as you read now? or do you have to still learn slowly and decode the notes.
So if you have a sharp/flat symbol on a line, does every note on that line become a sharp/flat? And if so, if you have the natural symbol in front of a note, does that cancel out the sharp/flat that was on the line, making the rest of the notes natural as well? I'm not sure if this is question is clearly understandable or not xD.
dude you are awesome thank you!!! I knew what flats and sharps were kuz I play guitar, but im learnin piano, and I dint understand why the flats where all the way in the beginning instead of next 2 the note itself. Now it all makes sense! Thanx bro!!! haha
I just want to know, with the sharp symbol (#), i understand if there is and F and there is a sharp symbol, you do an F sharp (#), but what do you do if there is an E, with no sharp key to the right, di you just play the E or do you move it to a f, or to an f#?????
Omg..ur tutorial is so clear and helpful...I played piano when I was 8, but didn't play since and now 19 I forgot all the symbol....thanx so much..subscribed...^^
verry good mate i understand more than the people on hear like them twats from "expertvillage" they dont know what to teach ya thanks again mate good work.
I know you were asking him, but I think he means that (this is an example) if there are two d5's on one line, with a sharp symbol to the left, the one with the natural sign would ignore the sharp symbol and be played as if the symbol wasn't there.
next week im gonna hire someone because i wanna breeze through the sheet, not stop on every note and say A and then thats a B, i would say to hire someone so you can fully understand.
hey OneChance99 thanks for the advise but I can 'breeze' through the notes now, it took me 1 month of constant practising, but if you believe hiring a teacher is a better way to overcome this obstacle then go for it and goodluck :)
The first was amazing...the second one matched it in amazingness. I can read sheet music really well now. You were very easy to follow. Thank you a ton :D. I was wondering if you have a recomendation for a keyboard I could get...mine is beat up and not that great. I want a good one...but don't want to spend a fortune lol. Thank you so much for the video...EXCELLENT VIDEO :D
I dont really know what keyboards are good on the market, but i think the yahama dgx 620 and yahama p-120 are pretty good..they have weighted keys and more importantly for you dont cost a fortune :)
yamaha p140 is great an the CVP series is really very good. I got the CVP 409 and love it. Its a bit pricy though. around 6400 USD so around 3600 to 3800 Euros
So when i learn some piece via sheet music.. I actually have to count every note that is on the sheet?.. I mean like When i am learning the musical piece i have to learn in my head the timing?..like count ^^
Well once you've done this over and over again you wouldn't need to count everytime, you would be able to read it straight off without thinking..just like how you would read out of a book but i do get what you mean it does sound impossible lol
i would like to say thanks for your very good technique how to read and understand the note..i am really nothing..

I have a question. If it is a # on, for example F in the middle, does that mean that every F on the whole keyboard is an F#?
Wibbziz 2 years ago
I'm only beginning to read/play music, but to me, it sort of seems like that's what he's getting at...but I can't say with complete certainty.
americanhistorynut 2 years ago
i have tried and that's true, if it stands that you should play F in a F# then it's means al the F on the whole keyboard.
Wibbziz 2 years ago
No guys that's not right
some musics or in fact songs have
some exceptions for some notes
for example if you have F# that doesn't mean
it allways will be F# in the whole keyboard
it depends on the melody of the song
HamsAlamal 2 years ago
Okay so if you have sheet music, and the # is at the very beginning of the staff, then all notes on that line or space would be sharp. However, if the notes has a natural sign in front of it, the # is canceled for that note. jsj89football 2 years ago
Basically, yes - unless there is a natural symbol next to the note, which would make the F a normal F.
dreamingWisdom 2 years ago
Or a flat symbol, which would make the F a flat.

yes, if a note is on a line with a sharp or flat, the it becomes that, however if there is also a natural next to it, then it remains as normal

thanks a lot. Your the greatest, but I'm still confused on how you tell whether or not its G4 and not lets say G2.
79crazykid01 3 years ago
i have the same problem...
asvajohnchad 3 years ago
You have to look at the symbol on the extreme left of the music sheet. If it's Treble than the second line from down up, means G4.
If its Bass then the 4th space from down up means G2
sucrilhus 3 years ago
WOW, thank you you taght me to read sheet music! (And I am pretty slow). That was amazing. Now I dont need a piano teacher.

5:50 - he says that the natural symbol overpowers the sharp and flat. so why are the flats and sharps there?
l433cl433c 3 years ago
because in a diffrent part of the music there'll be a note that has to be a sharp or flat and the natural won't be there to overpower it
