wow, seen this type of video for the first time and im just amazed by the size and lenght of trains in US... European cargo trains arent so long and massive... and they are not diesels :)
I guess it could be either of those too. I remember that Galesburg use to build a Selkirk and a Conway train sometime early morning to about noon, and I also thought this train looked like a higher priority train with all the reefers and ins. boxes, but i dont know for sure. Those trash cars should be able to tell us what train it is....
the conway train goes to chicago. people think its Conway yar out east but its not. according to BNSF Its somewhere in Chicago, IL. also I caught a train once with like 6 CSX locos and a LMX and it had trash cars. so its hard to say.
Why couldn't BNSF hand it off in Chicago and it go to Conway? But I'm pretty sure I've seen this train take the connection at Streator too, which would of course would mean its Conway PA. And I always saw 10R evening-early morning in northern IN on NS which is the BNSF run through to PA. Those times match up nicely... What other train would that run through come from? There was no MGALNSI like there was for CSX.
Dorock70 needs get a life!! Chill out dude many people have different interest in hobbies just because an individual is out looking at trains, perhaps photographing doesn't mean its stupid, why I myself use to do so this, and other things, when I get the chance I'd visit DFW Airport and watch super jumbo airliners come and go with at times other people there, theirs nothing wrong with that, I sure like to know what are your interesting hobbies if you have any. Tylerwinks, Thank you well done!!!
you guys are a f'n joke! we laugh at all you idiots every time we see one of ya out there taking pictures and videos, get a life! BNSF Signal Maintainer, Chicago, IL.
lol. Are you serious? I really think I would appreciate someone being interested in my job. Do you really hate your job that much? Thats too bad because I was looking into hiring on as one. So what is wrong with taking videos of trains? Don't you have a hobby? I am sure whatever hobby you have has no interest to me, but that doesn't mean it is a joke. Be at ease bro, and learn to respect others.
That 1st train was like Tyson is his prime. Lot of power with a horn like a itty bitty lil punk. You Mazon-eers have it good to see trains flying through there DAILY.
I love the seen when both BNSF's meet at 7:28 am. I like the green BNSF GEEP.FYI- BNSF is big in KANSAS and great to film. I don't think I have been here yet to film. Great job again.
I grew up really close to where you shot this (directly across from the old train depot)- it actually brings up a lot of memories and makes me homesick. I am somewhat sad to see that they haven't slowed them down, even with the people who died there. I still don't understand the fascination however, and my ears still ring from hearing those trains ten times a day for ten years! But thanks for the video.
yeah, I am pretty sure that they all do. At least all of the CSX trains I have ever seen had them. They always oscillate them at grade crossings. Wierd how the engineer didn`t do it.
The flashing comes automatically when the engineer blows the horn. It is not something the engineer turns on for every crossing, but there might be something that turns it off though.
The alternating ditchlights usually disappear when they are replaced by a foreign railroad, like BNSF or UP etc. These railroads do not have the alternating ditchlights in stock, so the only thing that they can replace them with is the standard ditchlights. It works the other way too. BNSF and UP units pop up with alternating ditchlights after paying NS and CSX repair shops a visit. I am not saying that is the case here though. They may just not be wired correct.
Wierd horn on the NB Green!

Your welcome Nicola. This railroad would be nothing like it is today without those high speeds.

why didn`t the engineer of the CSX train oscillate the ditch lights?

Not sure BNSFman. Do all CSX units have them?
