  • This was a wonderful show but these titles are rather uninspiring.

  • The BLU-RAY version is coming from a Canadian company, look on Amazon USA. Restored and remastered. This was a terrific show, well ahead of its time. Great FX/matte.

  • I remember when they tried to replace this with Gemini Man, which sucks balls!!

    David McAllum ruled !!!

  • He currently works as head of the NCIS forensic area.

  • @smokingman40 Yes, and let's not forget about Sapphire and Steel :)

  • @konked Yes... :-)

  • My fav show when I was a kid:)

  • I love this version of the Invisible Man and not the more recent incarnation. I really wish someone had saved an episode or two and not just the music. I would dearly love to watch David McCallum again in this part. Does anyone have it???

  • @ulyferal

coming to dvd & bluray on October 25, this year.

  • The Jackie Cooper played the head of the think tank that"Dr.Wesson"(Mr.McCallum)worked for in the tv movie pilot..when the series was picked up..the role of the think tank's supervisor was taken over by Craig Stevens.

  • I loved this! It was so cool when he took off his mask & I still remember the theme song!

  • thank god for malfunctions!

  • I remember this, it was brilliant, I can recall as a kid wishing I could be invisible like David McCallum, of course the now blatantly obvious to me drawbacks make me glad that it isn't possible, not being able to be seen really would be a mixed blessing for reasons that most practical people can appreciate, one example would be crossing a road, you would have to be extremely careful :O

  • can u say TRON??!!!

  • the Invisible man model in 1/12 "monsters of the movies" kit is very rare, so I purchased a figure of sigmund freud, and removed the head, and wrapped epoxy putty around a wad of kleenex. now to sculpture the wrap over the mouth, and put on it a pair of dark goggles! There is a cigar in the left hand, hmmmm. maybe paint black gloves over the hands and put a champaign glass in the other, and paint the jacket red... so cheesy! ooobeedooo, word-ship a GOD whut moves things at my command! bwahahaha!

  • I remember Melinda Fee - great ass, no boobs.

  • what ever happened to melinda fee? i remember this serie

  • If I were invisible you best believe I'd be doing me some grab assing.

  • That scene where he takes his head off scared the crap out of me when i was a kid.........I spent most of this series behind the sofa!

  • 'THE INVISIBLE MAN" was a pretty strange fare for primetime TV in 1975. ironicly

Leslie Stevens, who had just finished "SEARCH" at Warner Bros. in 1973,did this

show,,and, like many of you-i'm pretty sure that we were likely watching something

else,,likely "THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN" or "STARSKY AND HUTCH" durring

that Fall. this was also quite a departure for David McCallum,a decade after UNCLE

and several before "Ducky" on "NCIS"

  • I loved this as a kid. The theme tune was great, too. Gemini Man sucked. Why isn't this on DVD?

  • Wow, great effects for 75. Very immpressive.

  • 0:36 Cledarly his mask is made of single-sided polygons...

  • Supposedly the pilot was lost in a fire, so they will never released the show on DVD. Supposedly. I have no idea if this story is accurate.

  • @Rhube13

That's what they want us to think...

  • great intro but theme tune was pant i dont remember but i watched programme all the time

  • i know how he showed his eyes i think he used contact lens

  • What is it with all the great seventies shows? Are there copyright problems? They have lost the tapes? What?Cable TV won't play them,Few are on DVD.Nothing earlier than 90s shows are re-run.I want to see the shows of my childhood,I'm sick of Raymond.mad About You,Friends and Seinfeld.

  • @laiosto McCallum's U.N.C.L.E., Saphire & Steel and NCIS made it to DVD so perhaps its not long. These shows ARE showing up on DVD, I suggest keeping looking on Amazon. Most of the cop and detective shows from the 60's and 70's have made it to DVD (Mannix, Barnaby Jones, Canon, The Fugitive, Hawaii Five O, Rockford Files, etc...), most of the comedies, westerns and many of the sci-fi shows from the 60's like Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, etc..

  • another example of NBC the idiot network that cancels great shows.

  • @ramblergarage Well didn't the network just repackage David McCallum's 'Invisible Man' as 'Gemini Man' the next season. I agree that I liked this show as a kid and I haven't had a chance to see it since.

  • Hey Universal! Please get this one out on DVD!

  • DANIEL WESTIN IS MY BROTHER!! :D <3

  • Didn't the Chevy Chase movie use some of the invisibility gags at 0:49 - 0:54?

  • So smart that he failed to realise that the machine needed a rubber stopper to stop it from colliding with itself.

  • Wow, amazing how David McCallum has been known for. Nowadays he's known as Ducky on NCIS, and it's easy to forget this dynamic little gem. :)

  • thank You~* fa+her 4~* we''re here~* para mi amigo invisible~+~+~* in the U.S.A.~*

  • love this show.

  • Remember when the networks used to try to lure us to thier show with actors, good writing and a plot. Now we got Snookie.

  • I reckon that Pierce Brosnan would be perfect for the lead role in a movie remake (if some Hollywood bright spark decides to make one).

  • @boomshanka Pierce Brosnan would be perfect for anything in my book.....Yumm!

  • I would have been a great body double on this show.

  • i bet was easily as good if not better than the 1999 or what ever year was the invisible man series (& TV movie pilot) (infact just from this intro it looks beta)

  • Used to love this series on Aussie TV 36 years ago. Haven't seen an episode since.

    Seems I'm not alone!

  • fabster3333...lol ....you got a "double flashback" going on in this page....the show....and the "sci fi " channel logo..in the corner...whats that like late 90's?

  • omgosh , i used to watch this with my uncle when i was just a little girl. Brings back so many good memories .Ty so much for posting xxxxx

  • Bloody love this tv intro...so good I extracted the sound from here and now have it as Mp3...woohoo

Hollow Man is so shit compared to this.

  • 35 years ago!?? Where did the time get to...? =(

  • One night when it was pre-empted, the NBC announcer stated "The Invisible Man will not be seen tonight..." True story.

  • another mishappen scientific experiment :/

loved the show though. i was about six and remember well those brilliant special effects! shame it only lasted a little while. they used to do that then-bring out a brilliant series then cut it off just when things got going!

  • Oh good grief that brought back some memories. The thing I remember the most is the machine at the beginning. Strange.

  • Henry Mancini wrote the theme.

  • i have the complete series in dvd , people interest contact me

  • @reliquias1980 Hi have you got it on multi-region. for europe ?

  • they dont make intros to shows like this anymore..classic 70's theme too..brilliant..is this out on dvd at all..dont think it lasted that long as a show if i remember, maybe 1 season. Havent seen this in yrs

  • After steve austin this was the show! (still had to have a sleep if I wanted to stay up and watch it though....)

  • Great show! David McCallum rules!!!

  • @srb9 I liked his wife! Cool show.

  • @CaptainBuckRogers Me too!

  • @CaptainBuckRogers Melinda fee was her name and she was one of 'The Fembots' in the Bionic Woman story 'Fembots in Vegas'

  • @ajivins1 Did not know that about Melinda, thanks for the info

  • at 0.30 i used to have to hide behind the sofa.....another classic theme tune

  • donde encuentro los episodios

  • Okay. 0:38. You can't see the inside of the mask through his head. I love continuity errors!

  • would love to see episodes

  • that makes two of us I would like it if the invisible man would get released out on DVD

  • Awesome theme for an even better show!

  • The black and white Invisible Man film still freaks me out!

  • oh my god i COMPLETELY forgot all about this one-used to love it as a kid -thanks

  • watching david in NCIS braught this back to me he always plays a scientist

  • Derma-plex was the artificial skin I think - although in one episode they called it the Klae Resource

  • Did he always have invisible poo after that? I do remember the show so I'm joking :) wow...takes me back

  • Who remember the name of the artificial skin of Dr Daniel Westin??

  • Great stuff. I loved this as a kid. Does anybody know if it's ever been released on dvd?

  • If this came out in 1975, I was 4- but I swear, bits and pieces of this intro tickle my memory of having seen it. -I think it scared me, too. haha

Henry Mancini was an amazing composer!

  • I didn't knew such a great composer was behind this theme.Thank you Henri Mancini for this great music.

  • This effectis better then the gemini man effect xD

  • is that who that was i did'nt know

  • Jackie Cooper was the first actor to play Dave McCallium's

Boss in the TV movie pilot..on the actual series Craig

    Stevens played the boss.

  • Yeah I rememeber this too! so great!! eh or..at least I used to think so, the intro still looks cool!

  • omfg i use to wacth this all the time when i was a kid i wacthed this Hulk and Knight rider the three best shopws ever on tv when i was a kid

  • !!!

  • Gotta love that the inside of the mask is see-through...

When I started working with 3D on computers in the 1990s I was always reminded of this show, as 3D meshes are single sided by default (that'll probably only make sense to 3D modelers...)

  • LUTCHENKA

    QUE GRACINHA!

  • , invisble coment typed after this sentence lol

  • great post of this cuit tv show wish i was invisible for a day thanks

  • i can't see what's so special about this show.

  • is it because david macallum lost his head so often.

  • You can't see because he is invisible, that's the point.

  • finally, SOMEbody got my joke! :S

  • what's wrong with you? THE PHONE WAS FLOATING!!!!FLOATING!!!!!did you see a hand? no? It was realy floating!!!!!! There is no way that this effect could be carried out when this was made back in the 70's.......i believe that required advancements in string technology did not occur till 1984 with the release of 'top gun', where string was used to dangle tom cruise 6 inches above his shoes in an attempt to make him look taller and not like he was blowing the Ice Man.

  • GENIAL !

Que du bonheur et de souvenirs!

  • It's a shame the show was cancelled so soon. Seeing the clips of the first episode on youtube, I want the series on DvD! I liked the relationship between Dan and Kate. Sometimes it was playful, sometimes frisky, and sometimes rather steamy. After watching the first few minutes, Dan wasn't the only one who needed to take a cold shower.

  • @kitti0702 yeah, kate was very sexy woman

  • LOVED this show as a little kid! Cheers!

  • isnt there a newer version from the 90s?

  • Wow David McCallum always seems to be in alot of the old shows i watched in reruns as a kid, and to me they were all good.

  • I used to watch and enjoy this show when i was a kid.I was waiting for that moment when he would remove his 'skin' and become invisible.Charmful 70's show! It was quite popular at the time in France,i think(that's where im from).

  • C'est vrai, c'était très populaire en France à cette époque, je m'en souviens! Maintenant je vis en Autriche mais que de bons souvenirs!!!

  • Gosh thanks for posting this..great show..not seen this for nearly 30 years. Mum gave me the same hair cut as David,.boy-oh-boy did I have the p*** taken out of me at school in those days...hehe

  • Corny joke alert:

TV ANNOUNCER: "The Invisible Man" will not be seen tonight.

  • I can not belive, I´m watching this. Last time i did it, was about 32 years. Great to have it here...

  • i loved this series as a kid. they just dont make them like this anymore.

  • That's because the studios have resorted to typical republican tactic's. Telling us that the person who does the highly artistic aspects of creating this are an uneccessary expense to them. When without the talent there would have been nobody to have the creative spark that created the genius you are watching. When did the management of talent become more important than the true masters of the situation.

  • im not really into american politics, maybe they just found programmes like this too simplistic, and by becoming too sophisticated with modern tv shows theyve ruined it all. i wonder what todays kids would think of this series. maybe they too have become too sophisticated . all i know is i loved this show, great memories.

  • it seemed that a lot of good shows got cancelled even though informal study's(talking about tv. the next day at school, showed that popular shows got cancelled regularly.) Nobody whanted to pay for the price of glamour(talented musicians artist, etc. that created the whole concept. ) this was part of introducing low wages for top talent.

  • thanks a lot for explaining, pretty sad though.

  • does anyone know where I can get this Series??

    I would like to buy

  • Crumbs, I remember watching this one. There were quite a few Sci-fi series, in the 70s, wasn't there? There was this one, the Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, The Man from Atlantis, Space 1999,The Incredible Hulk,Logan's Run, to name but a few. But which ever way you look at it, the oldies are the goodies. Thanks for posting it.

  • Boy, I am almost in tears now..grewup with this.. lovely.

  • Loved this show.. and sadly only one season.

Loved the theme.. it was one of the best 70s theme tunes .. very evocative.. liked the Harp at the beginning.

It aired on the 9 Network in Australia and I still have the Nehemiah Persoff episode on VHS somewhere.

I must dig it up and post it here on Youtube !!

    Thanks for this !!

    GOLD !!

  • loved this in the seventies, when life was so simple and happy through a childs eye. love to have it on dvd.

  • OMG!! I haven't seen this since 1981!!! Thanks so much for posting it! I still remember David McCallum's head floating around!

  • this is a program that I would very much like to come out on dvd

  • They had good effects at the time.

    Cheers Lor xx

  • That was a super hero of mine like six million dollar man was. I thought that they were the most awesome superheroes of the planet. The biggest mistake was to see six million dollar man again a few years back.... A memory of him was spoiled for good - It didn´t feel the same ! I don´t want to see the invisible man on DVD - he lives in my memories forever. If I see even a one episode again, the illusion of him as my childhood hero is gone. Just want to keep that good memory alive.

  • Thats exactly how I feel!

  • You can tell how old this show is by looking at the size of the computer in Daniel Westin's laboratory... :-)

  • 33 years old it debuted in in the fall of 1975

  • Does anyone know if this will ever be released on DVD, if not it should be, I remember watching this as a kid and I thought it was a fantastic program

  • Couldn't agree with you more, rpb 1966. This great show richly deserves to be released on DVD. It shouldn't be left languishing in some dusty vault without an audience forever... :-(

  • There is a guy selling it on the net, on a 4 set CD, I was gonna buy it but you never know they may release it on DVD... in about 20 years time!!!

  • Good stuff!Nice memories!I know a lot of women who could do with some Dermaplex!

  • OMG! You do remember the name of the paint! Dermaplex! LOL! I remember as a 5 year old kid I used to play 'the invisible man' by mixing paper glue with talcum powder and putting on my face as if it was Dermaplex...

I was always frustrated that it never came off intact as a full reusable mask...LOL! Good memories!

  • Dermaplex is now on precription for all the 'Old Girls'!Paper glue and talc!Ha!Ha!Ha!We never thought of that!BRILLIANT!

    Adam

  • Brilliant series! Much loved by English kids!

  • Thanks! Good memories!

  • The excellent soundtrack from "THE INVISIBLE MAN" was composed by the brillant HENRY MANCINI in 1975 and this theme is difficult to find it in a record by the same Mancini. Mancini composed before for television 'CADES COUNTY" and "PETER GUNN" and after, "HOTEL" (1983).

  • I remember it from my High School days! NBC pre-empted it once with the announcement that "The Invisible Man will not be seen tonight..."

  • as soon as i got into it, nbc canceled it. ilya kuriyakin is the man!

  • I didn't even know that existed. Cool

  • Wow! What a trip seeing this again. I was crazy about this show. Typical kid who watched too much TV in the 70's. Thanks!

  • You and me both I was in loooveee with David Mccallum. Even tried to call NBC to see if I could talk to him. I was probably fourteen, puppy love and crush!

  • Omg! Thank you so much for posting this. That's like the first TV show that I remember watching.

I think I still got those tapes around somewhere. lol

  • Former "Doctor Who" Christopher Eccleston played invisible man "Claude" on "Heroes". Also, the old '30s-'40s Universal movies were great, particularly the first two with Claude Rains and Vincent Price---"The Invisible Man" and "The Invisible Man Returns".

  • I have some home video of an Invisible Man in my back yard. I will post it sometime. Not much to see however.

  • Couldn't see the popularity of David McCallum (and no that's not a joke). I thought he was wooden.

  • Yay, The Invisible Man, my fav tv-show sometime around 1976-77! I was at the ripe age of six at the time but nonetheless, David McCallum was definitely my first ever celebrity crush. I fell in love with his blond hair LOL

  • wow, great show. (so OK, I was only like 8 at the time, but still....)

  • clarp ps kien se olvida de esta serie yo lo miraba tmb^^

  • amazing!it just brought back at the time i was seven years old, time to time i was identifying myself to him

it didn't last long on tv...but i still remember it PIERRE

  • I remember this when i was 7, and now i'm 25. This show is nearly 40 years old now.

  • yes sir.i'm 39 now...let me tell you this intro got a magic on it... enough to get me back in the late 70's... when i was lil 7 y'o boy i remember that was about first thing i started being a fan for...it only lasted a few episodes...after that... that was it never put it back again lately in the invisible website found out that he made about 26 episodes!!!!!!!

  • 76/77 season. It's just over 30 years old.

    A long time nonetheless :)

  • I remember this when I was 5 or 6 yrs old. This program was one of my favourites. The 70's was a truely ground-breaking time for Sci-Fi TV. I think alot of the concepts and ideas I learnt from shows like this and others like it in the 70's were so radical and so original to children growing up in those days it's not surprising that Sci-Fi TV had spawned so many die hard fans over the years and ultimately had come into it's own.

  • This is a serie that could made on dvd ;-)

  • I remember seeing several episodes of this show as a kid, But it didn't seem to last very long on the air even when I remembered seeing a promo in Dynamite magazine for it (A popular school magazine back in the seventies) "If The Invisible Man is not showing right now in your area, Don't worry he'll soon be back on the air" however he never was the show had a pretty short run as I recall.

  • Probably this show, The Man From Atlantis, The Six Million Dollar Man and The Incredible Hulk

were the shows with a science fiction fish out of water, man against the world,

stranger in a strange land sort of theme you used to see in the seventies so much, I wonder when someone will be releasing those shows on dvd or making new film versions of them, You just know someone will someday.

  • This was a GREAT pairing of two TV icons. David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin from The Man From UNCLE) and Craig Stevens (Peter Gunn) teaming up. IT WORKED REALLY WELL!!!

  • Great Theme tune!

  • Henry Mancini, if memory serves!

  • This was a strange pairing of two TV icons. David McCallum (Illya Kuryakin from The Man From UNCLE) and Craig Stevens (Peter Gunn) teaming up. Unfortunately, it didn't work very well.

  • David McCallum is truly one of the greatest. My fav is Sapphire & Steel with D.M. and Joanna Lumley. One of the most genious Sci-Fi LEGENDS.
