@PianoByEar1110 There is nothing that you cannot fix if you find out how to get it done and then PRACTICE, PRACTICE and then PRAC TICE some more!!!!!!!!!
Thank you shotscience, I've been watching your videos for months now and I recently got the MVP in the whole school leagues, I don't deserve the trophy you gouys do, thank you for the help
@2codyharris Hey Cody, you are too kind. We are sure that you spent a lot of time getting better and you deserve your award. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
I find it hard to do any of these moves because when I try them on a defender my defender just stays frozen, he won't fall for any of my fakes. And when I try anything to get around him he takes a step back. It's like he knows my every move I find getting pass my defender has always been my biggest challenge.
@mannyjabah Manny, key points to make these moves work is simply this: You must attack them HARD so they have to defend HARD! It sounds to us like you are having difficulty because you are NOT ATTACKING THEM AGGRESSIVELY. This will really help a lot. Also remember you have to work on this or any move for several weeks before you can really use it against a defender. Like riding a bike for the first time, you fail, fail and finally succeed. This is how we learn to do most things.
@143zazkhy Do a video of your flat-back so we can help you. Probably just a matter of practice. This move takes time to develop like most effective moves.
@TheSnowspy Yes, that is correct. Always try to get the ball out front. If you pick it up near your hip you cannot beat someone in a wheel chair! HaHa You really want to have to reach for the ball out front. Check out the players i n the video.
@wtbwontons You want the ball to travel in the direction of the Baseline of the basket you are attacking. East and West is toward the sidelines and you have difficulty in beating the defender.i if the dribble goes in that direction.
Hey coach, I think your videos are great and I've been practicing them very often. The thing is when I actually try to perform them, my friends never fall for them. I tell them that I tried to fake them or cross them but they tell me that I'm too stiff and my body does not "flow". Anyways are there any tips you can tell me you help me become more agile or to help me "flow"
@TrueFIights Probably you need to continue to work on the moves. No one is able to execute these for a few weeks or sometimes longer. You need to remember that a key element of beating the defender is to "Make them defend." That means make them think you are going to go by them by really attacking them. This really helps to beat them. It sounds like your biggest problem is that you do not have these moves down yet. Remember, "MAKE THEM DEFEND." Keep working on'em.
@TrueFIights hahaha a very common problem dude! Many players counting me have struggled with this problem. Not trying to sound racist but your moves are just to robotic or "white" and you need a little more brother rhythm in your moves. It is very hard to make you body not stiff and smoothly move with the ball, or have rhythem in your moves. A lot of people are already born with it, but its still something you can achieve. Watching players who have it 100% down is always helpful, and PRACTICE!
That good information and this is a hard move to defend cause what it alows is that u force ur defender not only to open up but u also force them to move east /west while u attack them
Coach I know my question is not related with this video but when i try to shoot off dribble i am always blocked by a defender. I am 5.7 and the defenders are usually 6 or 6.1
@ArsalanAijaz97 Arsalan, your question is related to this video and others. This Attack move is used to create space for you to get your shot off or attack the basket. If you are not getting the space you need possibly you should re-visit this video and see if there are some things here that can help you. Being shorter means that you are probably quicker. Use this to create your space.
@ArsalanAijaz97 If you are confident your attack dribble is creating enough space, you may want to work on the speed of your shot release. You may need to decrease the time it takes to get into your shooting motion, etc. I would recommend taking video of yourself while shooting in practice and in a game situation. You will probably be able to identify what needs to be worked on. Or, have a coach review the video with you.
i'm alittle confused about this move. what exactly do u mean north-south? because it looks like the guy is just faking one side and doing a behind the back to the other side to me, which shouldnt be too hard to stop yet everytime i see someone do it it brings results. is there something i'm missing? because i really want to add this move to my arsenal.
@NovRide The phrase "North and South" means that you always attack the defender at an angle that would take you toward the basket. Players often use this attack in what we call the "East-East" meaning they are going to much sideways and never put any pressure on the defender. East West = Sideline to sideline. North-South = Basket -to-basket.
I use the wraparound alot actually and for me it has proven effective. I've always done the wraparound after a set-up in and out and get the defender almost every time.
@7Micha7hell7 To turn Pro you need to be very skilled, athletic and size helps, but there are a number of really good NBA players who are not big. Being rich has nothing to do with your being able to play in the League. That is possible if you make the NBA and are one of the best.
@phamie13 if it's not effective for you, there is a problem. Typically players fail to "sell" the move as they change direction OR they don't slice past in a North-South manner, but loop out and around instead. You can see tons of top players using this move to great effect (Nash, Kidd, Wade, etc). Figure out why you're not being effective with this move and make the adjustments. If you need help, let us know and we'll be right on it.
@KingKyle1500 if you're watching on your computer, you're able to click on the annotations to go to another attack. If you're watching on a mobile device, the annotations aren't there... sorry
@Lefthook00 The Flat Back is not a Wrap Around. It is some much more explosive than the wrap! When you get this one down you will kick some serious butt!

Great instructional video.. I'll try this out this Sunday when I meet up with a few friends for our weekly hoop session. Can't wait for the others.. thanks.

@GriffinMurphyBBall Thanks so much for your very nice comment. We really work hard to offer videos that are quality and hopefully serve players all over the world.
Watch Hunter McClintock "breakin ankles" video on youtube for a great example of this type of behind the back. He does it full court on a dead run vs a quick defender. Goto the :21 second mark to see it.
man, why not mix it with the spin dribble if you want to wrap around? it will confuse the D and while you confuse them stepback quickly using flat back dribble and shoot it?
@JustFlew Well, there are a lot of ways to do things,, but we are into helping people learn how to execute these moves and then they can put them together if they choose. Thanks for your comment and your suggestion is a good one, but more for the advanced players. Thanks a lot for your offering.
@ShotScience it does work well but it basically has to be almost perfected for it to work properly. i tried it on my friends today and at first i messed up but then i got after a few times and it worked affectively. thanks!!
@nashster2: Well Nash, this like any other move in basketball needs to be developed over a period of time to learn how to control the ball and influence the defender. Keep working on it. It is a killer move.
@Shezi270: This move and the Spin (Reverse) are both impossible to defend if properly executed. Remember to make the defender , DEFEND by going strong at them. Then it is easier to beat them. Let us know how it goes.
@ShotScience How do i know if i could be able to do this if im still doing the "dribbling 101"? . . . And could you give me vids from basics to when im ready to do the moves?
@dropsblood: Well the best thing to do is try it out and after practicing is will become more of a part of your game. We have some advanced ball handling drills coming up very soon.
@aznpowerdaniel: Executing the move is way more important than trying to teach your friends. Refer them to Shot Science today. Glad you were able to get this one down.
What I am trying to is that. U see when you a tight marker on you during a game. I usually see majority of them run into me as I'm tracking back (moving) and I was told to 'foul' my charger. I didn't understand how that worked. I was told if I was to remain in a stationary position for 1 second, then if someone were to run into me the foul would be on them. Is that correct?
Coach. When I dribble, I usually have a tracker on me. When I cut in, the defender just stands still (as soon as I change direction and i bump) apparently I had fouled them because I ran into them but I thought you're meant to be in a stationary position for 1 second (not anything lower) then if someone bumps, it's a foul other than it's not a foul. Am I right because I usually get caught out in games for this and when i defend ppl bump into me when I'm moving so i want to get this right. HELP!

Coach Tom can you please make a tutorial about being able to attack the basket without getting blocked? I am having some bad time getting blocked most of the time. Thanks
@27jserrano: This is great news. We love it when someone makes the team they try out for. It also feels good if we were able to help in any way. Good luck.
@ShotScience I don't have a video of it this time, but I have about 5 games this weekend. The move is killer. I'm sure it'll happen again. Can't wait for the rest of the attack moves. Thanks!!
Hi im 5.7 ft tal 14 years old l and i play the point guard, i know how to shoot from the " head" but not from the 3-pointer how do i get enough power to shoot from the 3-pointe( farer distance) I have a try out in 1.5 moths so i nead to learn it fast! :D
@LiLBasketBaller: Check out our video, "Get the Legs into It." Your problem sounds like you have not tapped into your leg power. We have students who are your height and younger than you who can shoot the three from the higher set point. The legs are the key.
@Garcia148: The best tips we can offer are: 1. Be your self and try not to be someone you are not; 2. Have a GREAT ATTITUDE."; 3. Really hustle in all drills;
4. Be in the front of every line in drills. Go get em!!!
@frankwallace36 yes! Check out our "Dribbling 101" video and if you need help with a specific aspect, let us know! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Is this the move where it is with conjunction to NBA star Jamal Crawford Shake'n'Bake? If it is , its actually not hard to do the Shake'n'Bake coz you just need to reverse this move another time to trick the defender.
@MilkForYou96 Well, that's a combination of two moves and it's a viable one, but we say take the guy with one move if possible. Adding in the second move will only open you up to potentially making a mistake. So if it's unnecessary, leave it out!
@VidMaker1996: On this move you can be really close because the ball is going behind you. Count on the defender to maintain his "Defensive Cushion" (2-3 feet).
The key to beating the defender is to attack him hard so he really has to work to defend you. When you do this you will gain an advantage because he will overplay you in the direction you are going and set himself up for your COD.
@slashzeronz Maybe try "Creating Space" before you try to get a pass. Take your defender down, seal him and then flash to the ball. Check out our video on "Flashing the Post" and it might give you some ideas on how to get open. We'll try to cover this specifically when we have a chance to get to it. Also, when the ball is passed to you, you are responsible for the last 10% of the pass, so you have to "meet" the ball.
@slashzeronz: Thats really impossible for us to tell you where to be since we have no idea what you team is playing for an offense. Your coach is going to have to address this one. Sorry.
i want to go to the NBA, and i work very hard on my game. This move might be too hard for me rite now, i want to work on the crossover, hesitation, and scissor move first. Plz upload those and i need to learn how to make layups, and i mean perfect layups no matter what speed or direction i am coming from. I am now gonna check out more vides, keep up the good work, Thank you.
@Shezi270 you'll need to work on your game at least 6-10 hours a day to have a chance. Plus, each workout has to be very efficient and effective. You will also need good knowledge of the game. If your not on the varsity team from freshmen year of high school and arent dominating since Day 1, it will be very difficult.
@Shezi270: You have the right idea on where to start. Check out our other videos as there is a ton of information there for you. Keep us up to speed on your progress.
@Shezi270 Getting to the NBA takes a lot of hard work and if you don't fall into a certain demographic of tall/athletic/strong genetics, you have a real uphill battle. Work very hard at the fundamentals and you'll reach your potential.
As for our videos, we post them as soon as we finish them. We wish this was our full-time occupation, but we haven't gotten there yet. Also, you mentioned layups. We have a video on that called "Layups 101" that we posted several weeks ago. Check it out!
Dear Coach, I'm having a horrible time with this. Every time it goes behind my back I miss it with my other hand. I can't seem to catch it. Help?

@huhyeswat: Well, you can call it whatever you want to, but it is really effective in getting to the rack.

i did a terrible job explaining to my friends lol

@aznpowerdaniel: Executing the move is way more important than trying to teach your friends. Refer them to Shot Science today. Glad you were able to get this one down.

What I am trying to is that. U see when you a tight marker on you during a game. I usually see majority of them run into me as I'm tracking back (moving) and I was told to 'foul' my charger. I didn't understand how that worked. I was told if I was to remain in a stationary position for 1 second, then if someone were to run into me the foul would be on them. Is that correct?
LFC4EVA1990 1 year ago
@LFC4EVA1990: Well this sounds kind of correct. It also sounds kind of complicated.
ShotScience 1 year ago
HELP!
LFC4EVA1990 1 year ago
@LFC4EVA1990: Sorry LFC, but we don't get exactly what you are describing. Try us again.

Coach tom I can say that I am good in dribbling but I can seem to knife through the defense and finish. Where is the video?
zeruvirix 1 year ago
@zeruvirix: Somethings you may need to learn for yourself. Making these videos takes a lot of time. As noted below, check out "Finishes at the Rim."
ShotScience 1 year ago
Coach Tom can you please make a tutorial about being able to attack the basket without getting blocked? I am having some bad time getting blocked most of the time. Thanks

Hi im 5.7 ft tal 14 years old l and i play the point guard, i know how to shoot from the " head" but not from the 3-pointer how do i get enough power to shoot from the 3-pointe( farer distance) I have a try out in 1.5 moths so i nead to learn it fast! :D
LiLBasketBaller 1 year ago
@LiLBasketBaller: Check out our video, "Get the Legs into It." Your problem sounds like you have not tapped into your leg power. We have students who are your height and younger than you who can shoot the three from the higher set point. The legs are the key.

Garcia148 1 year ago
@Garcia148: The best tips we can offer are: 1. Be your self and try not to be someone you are not; 2. Have a GREAT ATTITUDE."; 3. Really hustle in all drills;
4. Be in the front of every line in drills. Go get em!!!

ShotScience 1 year ago
Is this the move where it is with conjunction to NBA star Jamal Crawford Shake'n'Bake? If it is , its actually not hard to do the Shake'n'Bake coz you just need to reverse this move another time to trick the defender.
MilkForYou96 1 year ago
@MilkForYou96 Well, that's a combination of two moves and it's a viable one, but we say take the guy with one move if possible. Adding in the second move will only open you up to potentially making a mistake. So if it's unnecessary, leave it out!

ShotScience 1 year ago
should you be 2 or 3 feet away from the defender before executing this move?
VidMaker1996 1 year ago
@VidMaker1996: On this move you can be really close because the ball is going behind you. Count on the defender to maintain his "Defensive Cushion" (2-3 feet).
The key to beating the defender is to attack him hard so he really has to work to defend you. When you do this you will gain an advantage because he will overplay you in the direction you are going and set himself up for your COD.

dear shotscience,
i think i figured a way to score 20ppg.
think of 5 points per quarter.
VidMaker1996 1 year ago
@VidMaker1996: That is a "plan." Lets put it into play and get that 20ppg.
ShotScience 1 year ago
@ShotScience i mean scoring 5 points per quarter is easy... think about it
VidMaker1996 1 year ago

Shezi270 1 year ago
@Shezi270 you'll need to work on your game at least 6-10 hours a day to have a chance. Plus, each workout has to be very efficient and effective. You will also need good knowledge of the game. If your not on the varsity team from freshmen year of high school and arent dominating since Day 1, it will be very difficult.
Anything is possible

ShotScience 1 year ago
@Shezi270: You have the right idea on where to start. Check out our other videos as there is a ton of information there for you. Keep us up to speed on your progress.
ShotScience 1 year ago
@Shezi270 Getting to the NBA takes a lot of hard work and if you don't fall into a certain demographic of tall/athletic/strong genetics, you have a real uphill battle. Work very hard at the fundamentals and you'll reach your potential.
As for our videos, we post them as soon as we finish them. We wish this was our full-time occupation, but we haven't gotten there yet. Also, you mentioned layups. We have a video on that called "Layups 101" that we posted several weeks ago. Check it out!
