It looks like a pretty harmless Pythonid, a carpet Python, very dangerous!!!! but not, your grandma.. in fact does save the also very dangerous Pet dog, from being caught by the Python ... that happened several times.... in Both the US,Australie, Asia and South-Europa thousands of accounts of pets being taken by larger snakes, mostly escaped species (US) or just large species common in the Area...
you should take a picture of your grandma stand next to the snake while holding the shove.that would be awsum...by the way does your grandma play video game?
ok, that snake isn't venomous, if it bit you it would draw a few little drops of blood. Are you serious people? grow some balls, and even if it was venomous, snakes DON'T attack people. If you try to kill it or move it then your probably gonna get bit. tell your kids not to go around snakes if your so "worried"
@jody167 If you don't have a hunting license then its illegal to kill it even if its on your property, and why would you kill a snake anyway? WTF is the logic?
@MrKilln4goldlisten all im tryin to say is if it is bothering u and its poisonous then kill it but if its not doing anything then leave it alone kno wat im sayin cuz if its poisonous and she got grandkids then it dont belong there
its a fuckin burmese python just look at the pelt i have like three burmes and they are badass pets but its youll life so imma not say somethin bad about it
You're all stupid "experts".. This is a Carpet Python , or a Morelia Spilota to be more specific !
And it is prettty harmless and NOT venomous . It's an Australien snake , so I don't know where you live , but then you know if it WAS an native species or not .
That looks like a python to me. you can tell by the colour and pattern on its skin. pythons are much easie to kill than any other snakes coz they are not poisonous. i tell you, you should come to Africa and see more.
TELL YO MOTHER FUCKING GRANDMA TO KEEP HER BITCH ASS HANDS AWAY FROM SHOVELS SO SHE STOPS KILLING HARMLESS SNAKES! just leave it alone its probaly just looking for a nice mouse to eat. it'll remove the rodent infenstation around. i think it is a ratsnake- eats rodents, nonvenomous, harmless, kills by constriction
Given the fact that it has a triangle shaped head indicates a venomous snake. It's not a rattlesnake. It's color is wrong for a cottonmouth. Therefore it must be a western copperhead
You can see the 'checkered markings' on the belly.
I hate people who kill snakes for no reason. Even if this were a venomous snake there is no need to kill it. You leave them alone they leave you alone, this persons grand mother should know this.
Ah, well her time here is short, and when her time comes I can at least say it will be justified. c:
@spiritwind1005 You're not going very far with the triangle head theory, bro.
Nothing about this snake shows the characteristics of ANY venomous North American snake. The oval-shaped, blocky head gives it away as a rat snake right off the bat.
Pit vipers have flat heads and tapered snouts, giving them a wedge shaped head. Furthermore, pit vipers usually have keeled, dull scales with no gloss present.
@spiritwind1005 hello, you know that there are a few species of snakes non-venomous that mimic other venomous snakes for their protection? yes, like this one, it is a ratsnake they're harmless, but their bite hurts a lot... well, not everyone like snakes, i love them i have 2 boas constrictors imperator, a green vine snake (mild venomous, not fatal to human but to lizards :), red ear water turtle, leopard gecko, and hopefully soon a argentine tegu black and white
"Pantherophis obsoletus" - a ratsnake (sometimes listed with the old genus and species name, Elaphe obsoleta). As for the subspecies, I'm pretty sure it's a Texas Ratsnake (P. o. lindheimeri). They eat rodents, are non-venomous, and have relatively small teeth so they wouldn't hurt the dog even if they bit it.
It is a harmless rat snake...either gray or black, depending on how far north this was taken. If it was above Georgia, it is probably the black rat snake. Either way, totally harmless, and beneficial....unless of course, you and your family like rats, and the potential diseases they carry.
Thanks Granny! Thank you for making the yard safe for us younginz! Sorry bout some of the idiot POS commentin on here. Their Momma never toughtem NO manners! For the LAST time, this is a GRAY RAT SNAKE, Elaphe obsoleta spiloides.
I am 100% positive that this is a Gray Rat Snake. Either way, it's some sort of Rat Snake, which is about as deadly as an acorn- no venom here, folks.
People who are claiming this Colubrid snake is a python obviously have no idea what a freaking Boid looks like.
Sorry about exploding like that, but... geez, people can be stupid.
@Trustthapo its not a grey rat snake...i have one and this doesent look like it AT ALL...i know its harmless but his grandma is stupid what can we do kill her?......hmmm mabye
It is most likely an intergrade of Gray Rat/ Black Rat/ etc.
I myself owned a few Gray Rat Snakes, and I have seen several individuals that have darkened immensely with age. I know there is no way this is 100% Gray Rat, but I'm not going to go into details with people like you see around us on youtube that can't tell a Rat Snake from a Mamba, y'know. XD
Sorry about that. If you look through some of the comments on here, you'll find people madly proposing that it's a 'Copperhead!' or a 'Python!', which are very long shots in the first place.
This is why I hate talking online; it can be hard to tell what somebody is saying. XD
That there is a chicken snake, some people call them rat snakes. It's nonvenomous and very plentiful. I bet that thing stunk something fierce from the musk.
This is what should happen to more snakes, all snakes are good for is nothing but killing beloved pets, not including guinea pigs, i dont really give a damn about guinea pigs.
It looks to be a rat snake or bull snake it is one of the 2 it was harmless. Get a book on local snakes.Too bad is was killed educate yourself and your family and learn what snakes live in your state. It is easy to tell a venomous snake from a non venomous snake look at the head non venomous snakes have a elongated head venomous snakes have diamond shaped head except for the coral snake.Ignorance breeds ignorance get a book.
oh my gosh! i see the playground equipment outside, luckily the children weren't out playing while the snake was out there. your grandma is very brave. if i saw a snake i would have went and called someone and stayed as far as possible from it
WTF? It's a harmless bull snake! It wasn't gonna do ANYTHING to the children! What do you think it would do to them? Eat them? LOL!!!!!!!!! Bite them? It's non-venomous so LOL!!!!!!!!!! again. And the grandma was not brave, killing something totally hatrmless is not "brave". Unless you think killing a friggin' EARTHWORM is "brave"! you're the dumbass! everyone can't identify a snake by looking at it, and who the hell is going to take a chance at if it is venomous or not when they have small children? that's just like shoot now, ask questions later! and biting a child or a person is a big deal to some of us rather it is venomous or not. that's her backyard and she doesn't have to walk around being afraid that a snake will bite her
Maybe I am a dumbass, I really don't care, but just send the kids inside if you're SO worried! And besides, she totally mutilated it... One chop to the head would have done the job!
And I forgot to mention that a very sizeable percentage of people who are bit by venomous snakes get bit while - guess what - trying to kill the snake! So it was still dumb rather than brave to go after it, even if it HAD been venomous.
