But Grid isn't a similator and most of the cars are fictional. So the developer has free will to bang up the cars as much as they want. Polyphony is kind of restrained from doing that because they need the licenses too. Same with other simulators that have alot of cars.
the proble ith damage in gran turismo is that as the driving is too realistic the damage also will have to be so it will be very difficult for beginers like me
I'm pretty sure there'll be an option to turn off the damage; also, if I was reading correctly on a developer interview on the GT5 blog, the damage model is quite flexible, which possibly allows the user to scale the damage, meaning you may be able to set the damage to different degrees, thus making it easier for beginners while maintaining the same base for hardcore players.
so far all ive seen compared to need for speed shift and forza 3 is that the graffics are way better and theyre more realistic. this game is SHIT!!!! i havent seen one damn thing in this video that makes it so realistic besides the cars
they said most of the road cars would feature basic damage, but the racing cars would have much much more realistic damage like body pannals comeing off.
GTA SA doesn't have to deal with car manufacturers and licenses for damaging cars.
As stupid as it sounds, some manufacturers don't allow you doing some things to cars, like damaging them, turning them over or even modifiying them (like MW's BMW)

well in all honesty a crash at 120mph into a wall would make any car turn into little bits of shrapnel that would most likely kill you. that's not so fun in a video game like this. if you are good enough, you won't crash which is the point. Polyphony knows they cannot take their franchise full sim because they will alienate the majority of their audience. in the end it's still a game, and having to restart the race because your wheel falls off isn't fun.

err you can't convert real life to a game just by flipping into another reality. I have played GT5 prologue, and no, it does not come close to Forza. Anywhere from physics to screeching tires (which is horribly annoying in GT), Forza is superior.

Some of you need to play Rfactor or GTR2 with a good driving wheel. You will quickly realize that the average driver(and most people who comment here are below average) will not complete a lap without completely fucking up their car whether its a result of a steering throttle or tuning mistake, it will end in a brutal crash that makes the game inaccessible for most people.

But Grid isn't a similator and most of the cars are fictional. So the developer has free will to bang up the cars as much as they want. Polyphony is kind of restrained from doing that because they need the licenses too. Same with other simulators that have alot of cars.

the proble ith damage in gran turismo is that as the driving is too realistic the damage also will have to be so it will be very difficult for beginers like me

I'm pretty sure there'll be an option to turn off the damage; also, if I was reading correctly on a developer interview on the GT5 blog, the damage model is quite flexible, which possibly allows the user to scale the damage, meaning you may be able to set the damage to different degrees, thus making it easier for beginners while maintaining the same base for hardcore players.

they said most of the road cars would feature basic damage, but the racing cars would have much much more realistic damage like body pannals comeing off.

GTA SA doesn't have to deal with car manufacturers and licenses for damaging cars.
As stupid as it sounds, some manufacturers don't allow you doing some things to cars, like damaging them, turning them over or even modifiying them (like MW's BMW)

well in all honesty a crash at 120mph into a wall would make any car turn into little bits of shrapnel that would most likely kill you. that's not so fun in a video game like this. if you are good enough, you won't crash which is the point. Polyphony knows they cannot take their franchise full sim because they will alienate the majority of their audience. in the end it's still a game, and having to restart the race because your wheel falls off isn't fun.

i totally agree with u there mate- some ppl just want everything, and when they find out that they cant even take the first corner without their wheels falling off, they complain on youtube it's a really shitty game. I too would like to see some damage and some damage is better than no damage. Guys u just need to put some thinking into perspective!

I don't know if you played the GT5 demo, but you can hear blow off from the Evo's and other cars after shifting. I also wish they made the cars a bit louder and sound more powerful.

err you can't convert real life to a game just by flipping into another reality. I have played GT5 prologue, and no, it does not come close to Forza. Anywhere from physics to screeching tires (which is horribly annoying in GT), Forza is superior.

Gotta love those GT fanboys. When the Forza 3 demo was released and vids posted, they talked about the "crap simplified damage".
Now these new vids of GT5 are out, its plain to see that it has exactly the same simplified damage model! Just texture swapping!
The idiots that keep saying this game is only at 65% done are in complete denial. This is more or less the finished game, so bumper cars and wall riding for the 5th time round. LOL

No shit, wall riding made it easy at some points. You try wall riding in forza and you'll fuck your car up and about. Polyphony concentrated too much on making cars shine and sparkle and what not. So, overall, Forza 3>GT 5.

wth r yu talking about? Even GT5P looks 10x better than Forza 3, nd its 2 yrs older. And for the ppl complaning about the damage, please understand that Ferrari dont let them show any damage on the cars, besides the race cars, and that this damage system was done in less than 3 months by PD. We still have 6 months until the GT5 release, so the damage will get 3x better by then ;)

Hmm, idk, ive got Forza 2, nd woulda gotten Forza 3 if it wasnt for the RROD, but i do agree that the sounds are better in Forza. But in no way is Forza better than GT, it never was nd i doubt that Forza 3 will be able to be better than GT5 when it comes out in March (if not delayed..of course)

Hell, i still play GT5 Prologue nd bought it since it came nd its a demo, nd i had only played Forza 2 for lik 6 months, nd couldnt continue, cuz it simply didnt appeal to me much. Its simple each players opinion, but in no way am i taking away the great attributes of Forza 2

Some of you need to play Rfactor or GTR2 with a good driving wheel. You will quickly realize that the average driver(and most people who comment here are below average) will not complete a lap without completely fucking up their car whether its a result of a steering throttle or tuning mistake, it will end in a brutal crash that makes the game inaccessible for most people.

no it doesn't. if GT's physics engine display how a car should act in real life. i'm not even talking about crashing, what if you bump into a car a little bit, do you want crazy shit like this to pop up? no you want realistic behaviour and no bumpercart behaviour, ultimate the way a car reacts to certain objects in a game ultimately decides if a car handles "like real life"
and THAT is why forza will always beat GT on basis of real life simulation.

its not actually the games fault , when they ask ferrari if they can damage their car in the game they say no because they dont want people to see their car getting smashed, so they are only allowed to do paint scratches n stuff
