  • There's a school in my city that has a Simplex 4010 system, but it doesn't have voice-evac; it is tied into an old Simplex 4208 panel from the 1970s and controls all the newer duct detectors in the building. The alarms are mostly Simplex 4051 horns on 4050-80 light plates

  • Those strobes are Wheelock E-70 Speaker Strobes and the detectors are Simplex Quick Connects and I think it has the sounder with it.

  • @whelenvortexr4 Those are actually gentex speaker strobes.

  • @coffeeandsugar20 I guess I didn't look close enough. My mistake.

  • **our church fire alarm

  • Those alarm/strobes look like Wheelock E70s to me. Sans "FIRE" and "Wheelock"

  • My school has a silver 4010.

  • You mean gray?

  • Erm...well, LIGHT gray then.

  • that seceret device is a microphone for the voice part of the fire alarm

  • My school has a 4020. And my school is HUGE.

I made a video of my school alarms in 3 parts.

  • Why you respond to comments that are months old, I have no idea.

    But yes, they are.

  • The main public library in my city has a Simplex 4010 system with 4003 voice-evac JUST LIKE THAT, except it has TrueAlert speaker/strobes instead of Wheelock speaker/strobes.

  • Those are actually Gentex SPK4 Speaker/Strobes.

  • 4020 at my school

  • I think the signal might be gentex

  • We have a Simplex 4010 at our school also.

  • my school had the 4010 and we have that voice evac. panel now

  • "unit"? its called an annunciator. thats a manual evacuation microphone. get it right if your going to mimic the professionals. (SimplexTech)

  • first i was new to the hole fire alarm hobby.

i will remake this video again and this time i will do it right did anyting els wrong? help me out.

  • I WAS THE SAME WAY WHEN I STARTED MY FIRE ALARM COLLECTION.i thought a horn/strobe was just some thing that went woop woop woop (pause) woop woop woop

  • I thought an annunciator was a remote way to acknowledge reset ECT. like on a panel but only the buttons and the alerts

  • A Simplex system with Wheelock signals... seems like the ones at UAlbany

  • this dude has no idea what he is talking about.

  • could someone explain to me what a "supervisory" is?

  • Comment removed

  • Supervisories are when the panel is programmed to alert the end user that something in the system (smoke detector, waterflow switch, etc.) requires attention or is abnormal. Some panels, like the 4010, can be programmed to issue a supervisory when a smoke detector reaches a certain sensitivity threshold so somebody, alerted by the panel, can check it out without having to evacuate the whole building. Normally when part of a system is disabled, it just indicates a trouble.

  • Supervisories are normally caused by sprinkler tamper switches.

  • Like I said, WATERFLOW SWITCH.

  • ??? A waterflow would cause an alarm. A tamper switch is used to monitor whether or not the water is actually turned on to the sprinkler system. One causes a fire alarm. One causes a supervisories. I have never seen a waterflow programmed as a supervisory and only a lousy AHJ would allow that.

  • Right, I've seen supervisories set on just about everything, from waterflow devices all the way to duct detectors.

  • That's interesting, PandawdyBob. Are you an inspector?

  • Nah. A friend of mine is an inspector for White Water Sprinkler in Kansas.

  • Its called 4 thousand 3 not 40 o 3

  • big deal. It's the same number.

  • ya true

  • can u do a video of you pulling one?

  • We wanted you to pull it!

  • Im ganna get a 4010 in the future as they are my favorite simplex panels along with the 4003.

  • The "secret device" under the annunciator is a remote microphone that's for the 4003 voice panel. When the "ready to talk" light is on, it allows you to talk, while pushing the button on the side, through the speaker/strobes during, and no during an alarm. That way, during a false alarm, you can explain to people the situation.

  • I don't think he wanted that really said... because he said "SECRET DEVICE", even some of us know what it is, he didn't want other people to know what it was... so.... yeah.

  • that is ok as long as no one plays with it!

  • I'd be the last to play with it, lol

  • funny!

  • I'm serious, I don't mess with public fire equipment. The only reason I'd EVER pull a fire alarm is if there was a REAL fire. I did have to once, some electronics in a store overheated and caught fire, so I had to pull the alarm. The owner thanked me for pulling the alarm, he claimed that it saved everyone in the building. There wasn't much damage done, just a burnt up PS2, broken small 13" TV, and the station for it caught fire too, but it's ok now.

  • i would never pull one but if i needed to only if thrir is a fire. i like your videos

  • thanks!

  • Actually those are Gentex speaker/strobes. I can tell from the ridges at the top and bottom of the lens.

  • Gentex SPK4

  • thank you!

  • And that 4010 thing in the beginning is actually an annunciator to tell the 4010's status.

  • Those are older Wheelock ET speaker/strobes.
