Was a shame that Lost producers decided to turn her character into that of a promiscous white trash girl. I always felt Kate and Jack deserved a pure, romantic story. Oh well, Lost producers f-d up the whole show for that matter.

Watch the 1st season which is awesomely good, later the series starts to sink into a cartoonish parody and the characters lose their original aura. Ok, maybe watch season 2 and 3 too but the rest will make you pull your hair in frustration. IT NEVER RECOVERS! Kate jumps the shark when she f***s repetedly Sawyer while being secretly in love with the white knight Jack. There's never any real closure or happy ending.

From this, we can only assume that the "flash sideways" time line is our characters' afterlife, or possibly a "waiting room" of sorts before moving onto their afterlife. Notice that not all of the Lost characters were present in the church reunion that happened at the end of the show. These characters, like Jack, valued the time they spent on the island as the most important time of their lives.

@ririmja Wrong, acting is very hard work. You have to be able to get an agent and there is a whole business side to it. Working hours can easily go 14 hours in a day 6 days a week, sometimes 7 days a week. On top of this, you have to be developing your character and memorizing lines all the while. IT'S NOT EASY.
