@gentlefem Yes! I used to be a girl scout leader, and one of the most successful craft projects we ever did was making jump-ropes from plastic bags. We just had the girls wrap masking tape around the ends for handles (they were all under 10 years old), but if you wanted to get fancy I'm thinking two 6 inch lengths of dowel rod and a couple fishing swivels would do the trick.
At the end of the video you mention that you wait until plastic bags "pile up" at your house and then add them to the rope. Why are the bags just piling up at your house?? You're forgetting the "reduce" part of the 3 Rs - stop buying the plastic bags in the first place. Use cloth :)
This is a great idea. Practical, with many uses, and can be used to show both the wastefulness and resourcefulness of people. Now I have some way of storing my grocery bags (I don't produce enough trash to recycle them as trashbags).
Very nice Sam. I thought you were going to connect the bags into long lines, then twist them, then put them together and twist them the other way. That's how I make rope.
great job with the feet......... never thought of it but down here in mexico jails they use the plastick bags instead of electrical tape when working with wires for electrisity....
Good idea! I have always crocheted plastic bags (I made totes, huge mats for the kitchen and lots and lots of purses) but I never tough of rope!... Extremely clear explanation, and I loved the strenght test!!!!!
After this video he suffocated on a plastic bag and died. There will be no more videos.

Dude this works so well! One more tip: To make it nicer looking, take a lighter to it (carefully) and get rid of some of the loose bits.
