Well, that was entertaining and iformative all at the same time.
But here's a thought. How about running a car on water? Not steam engine, but more around the fusion (or is that fission) idea. Split the molecules, and if not possible to slam them back together again, well... Just look up the nearest tap or river. ;)
@Edward256 That would be a good idea, but you know the first engine that can do that (near) safely will be far too huge to fit in an engine. They'll figure out something sooner or later. Most likely later when the earth is nearly dead :D
