  • He's a brave fellow! I would have had to swim outta there! Thanks for the post. mj

  • why the fuck did i watch this..

  • "so that he has light, in case of darkness" heheh

  • Remember when voting that Obama hates your industry.

  • @madisonelectronic idiot...

  • @madisonelectronic Remember when voting people will say any stupid fucking thing to get you to do what they want. either way obama is still bad.

  • @madisonelectronic

I agree with the other two that you're a fucking idiot

  • @BC1Dan You mean to tell me that you do not care that Obama hates miners and the coal industry?? You three must be asshole liberals unconnected to mining or coal. If you hate so much turn off your electric power, cause burning coal supplies a great deal of it.

  • @madisonelectronic

Lmao. I'm independent. The difference between me and you is that I actually research the shit before I spew off, and don't just go on blind facts like you seem to be doing. But I guess you must sleep well at night voting against someone, as opposed to voting for someone.

    Retard.

  • @BC1Dan My three good guesses. You are in college, you are brainwashed, and you are a nigger. I am certain of the last one, boy.

  • @madisonelectronic

Lol you mad? Don't worry it's natural when someone has been proven wrong and they feel backed against the wall.

Don't worry though, the best thing about being ignorant in your case is that you can learn. I mean you can use Youtube so I would guess you at least have the capability to read a book, even if it has to contain pictures.

  • @madisonelectronic If it wasnt for the miners and coal mines we would still be using candles and kerosene lanterns like the Amish!!!!

  • @TheZeke1974 Amen. Many of my relatives including my father were coal miners in Ohio, but it seems many on this page hate miners for some unknown reason.

  • That remote control dozer is a great machine!

  • "kntroul"

  • Gutsy operator...

  • how do i get that job?

  • Scary job.

  • This is Chuck Norrises toilet

  • mining is very dangerous, these guys earn their money!! They deserve a raise!! Im glad he survived!!

  • WTF no ''CHUCK NORRIS'' jokes on this one c'mon peeps..

  • God bless you folks for doing your hard and dangerous jobs to provide power for our country!

    Seriously, thank you so much.

And God bless the United States of America, where life is given it's proper respect. The Chinese kill about 6000 workers a year in their coal mines, because the life of an individual has no value there.

  • I know msha is their for the workers, but some of them are fucktards who look for little shit to hammer the company on. Case in point they fined us for not having enough toilet paper in one of our bluerooms "shitters" on the mine site just shit like that is what makes everybody hate these inspecters...

  • how many people died? What happened? did they get the dozer out? I don't have 11 min to watch the whole thing.

  • @duckkillerclydeclyde You don't have 11 minutes spare?

  • The Labor Department's first-ever use of its toughest enforcement tool has resulted in a court-supervised settlement with coal mine giant Massey Energy.

The agreement involves Massey's Freedom Mine #1 in Pike County, Ky., which is described in court documents as a mine so dangerous it requires court supervision

  • Hell, put a couple of Playboy magazines, a few sandwiches and sodas, some flashlights and you're good to go for a couple of hours.

  • New for 2012, the Dooooozer's cab has now access to youtube and Facebook.

  • настоящие мужики)

  • I used to be an adventurer like you, then my dozer fell into a rat hole.

  • Fuck safety glasses. Every job I do, somebody forces me to wear those godamn safety glasses.

  • @Audiolaboratory Amen brother! I know when I'm doing something that requires safety glasses or any other safety gear... Making this crap mandatory (imo) gives workers a false sense of security. Know the risks involved in your job and wear the appropriate safety gear when needed. Education is the key to success!

  • Smoked a bowl and now stuck on this video....... why......

  • @M3ta1XH3ad I know right glad to know im not the only one...

  • @TheProgrammerChris YES!!!!!

  • coal pile is the biggest danger in the coal industry 2day? XD i bet the miners wouldnt agree with that. ide rather be stuck in a truck under a pile of coal where ppl know where im at then down in a cave 100's of feet under ground with no fresh air coming in........

  • the DOOOZER

  • give that guy a raise!

  • yep you got to fight tooth and nail just to come out even we nned to change these laws allowing insurance companies walking all over people

  • "We've created some more ideas by having the trucks to stop dumping and concentrating on the one feeder that was giving us a problem". Translation: when shit breaks down, we don't just instruct the operator drive over it.

Coal mining safety has improved 10,000% in the last hundred years, from "insanely dangerous" to "extraordinarily dangerous".

  • "We got a special glass thats made big" lol. So high tech

  • @5spd5thgen Lol how far is this into the video? I don't feel like watching the whole thing but I want to hear this =D

  • Comment removed

  • @5spd5thgen We got a special glass that's made bigger than the frame on the outside of the cab so that it can't cave in, but it can be kicked out. Smart :)

  • @5spd5thgen It's the simple things that improve safety, I think that was a great idea to prevent being buried alive. There's no LOL when the end is near.

  • wow what an education..

  • what kind of self rescuer is that?? doesn't look like the w65, but bigger

  • Why are people still doing these jobs? It's a rhetorical question because people are still cheaper than the mining industry going to robotics.

  • @mechiefslapahobitch Idk if you work construction or not but when stuff like that happens it is really scary, just like a avalanche in the snow, you run out of air an your dead.

  • what's in the self rescue

  • How about remote controls for the Dozer operators. Then, in and emergency, they could turn off the feeder themselves.

  • Safety Director probably wrote him up for a chargeable incident...

  • the union is like alcohol ,good until its abused,

  • safety is great but most companies including mine are all about it till it interferes with production then it is safety out the window and full speed ahead on production. when something does happen they pull out that little safety book and figure our how they are going to blame you instead of production.

  • That self rescuer box has sharp corners right above the operators head. It's no good to him if he is knocked out!

  • @millimetreperfect You pull the pin, the lid swings down and hits you in the head, then that big orange box thing falls out and knocks your teeth out...

  • rainbow braces? something tells me this wasn't the first time this man got stuck in a hole xD

in all seriousness takes balls to keep calm in times like this this

  • Good education,, thanks

  • bit of a nothing video if you ask me

  • thank god he was safe !!

  • what really sucks is that wether ur an operator or a labour in a great or a not so good company.. you're just a number..thats how i feel, and it doesnt matter how many years you've worked for that company

    #5252

  • least hes ok and they made alot of new improvements

  • Fuck me! I was convinced that I had a tough job. Keep up the good work gents...

  • Comment removed

  • He later left this interview and died in a truck accident, soo that means the accident he had gotten into several weeks before came back and did kill him! When your gonna die its gonne get you!

  • @jacobg1777 man ...u must be a fan of final destination

  • coal dust is going to kill them anyways , no?

  • Funny how the superintendent refers to the man stuck in the cab as "the operator" and not by his name. Probably the first time the super was out of his office in years. Poor super, what an inconvenience for him. DICK!

  • @RappedTooTight Yea, and everything the Super did was immediate i.e., "we immediately got into a p/u truck", "we immediately began moving coal away".

BS, the only thing the Super did immediately was to slam his coffee down, start cussing, grab a handful of pink slips and figure out who to pin this on so he don't lose his job.

Trust me, he didn't get his hands dirty trying to rescue "the operator".

  • I would have died from panic

  • Mining Safety tip: Don't fucking mine

  • a brave man, who didn't panic. They should implement periodic call-in times to at certain intervals to make sure operators are ok

  • We lost a driver, big sexy because he jump out if his truck when he lost his brakes going down a site

  • Offsetting the talk of union corruption and government over-spending, are improvements like the ones mentioned in the video. Without government intervention and union demands, workers would die more often on dangerous jobs like mining. The corporation would see these as cutting into their profit and would not make improvements unless forced to by government. Historically, it's a proven fact.

  • @hulkhatepunybanner You're totally right. Nice comments on the benefits of unionization and reasonable government regulation. A free market without unions or measured regulation is a death trap for workers.

  • unions are scum

  • @Soundgarden8497 you only say that because your jealous you have a shit under payed job.

  • @Soundgarden8497 In the UK directors of the FTSE 100 companies received average pay increases of 49% this year and their workers just over 2% under conditions of very much reduced union power. These guys get rewarded for failure!

Are you offering to work for Chinese wages? Incidentally both Chinese and US average household incomes have been falling for over 20 years. This is the 'race for the bottom' for most people. Meanwhile the hyper rich enjoy lower tax rates than this dozer driver.

  • @SteffanLlwyd well if you want to throw it all out there... both ends of the spectrum are scum.

  • @SteffanLlwyd thats a flatout lie, there has been a steady increse in wages.. the top increased faster but no group fell backwards

  • What exactly is a Surge Pile?

  • @Squarerig it's when the friction of the coal creates a "hole" void.

Like some old stone bridges made by compression, still standing today. Arches they don't use a large track hoe?

what about remote vibrators(offset spinning mass) placed in circle at wall of void?

some of the "mass finishing machine" use offset mass to remove burrs and mirror finishes. its neat to watch

horizontal augers, dumping cones, they had problems with grain and no more.

  • I was taking a shit when I was just watching this...

  • All of you out there that are so ready to roll over for every government intrusion, like the privacy act, do not deserve your freedom. In the USA anyway you should realize freedom is not free. And it should NOT be restricted. All things being equal there should be NO intrusion at all from government. Survive on your own or don't. Get your mama to take care of you if you aren't tough enough bunch of liberal pussies

  • @ghfakar You need to spend some time working for corporations who think you are disposable, safety is just a word to some of them. It get tiring going from job to job trying to find a company who gives a shit.

  • @badattitude77769 Yeah Yeah, same old liberal drivel. Corporations bad, GOVERNMENT good. Yeah. So what, does the GOVERNMENT care about you? Heh. NO Your vote is ALL that Odumma cares about. He and his liberal communist socialist freaks. So move. Go to Venezuela and maybe uncle Hugo will take care of you. Only remember, THEY will tell you how much you can earn, what you can do with your money and how you MAY live your life. Cradle to grave take care of you. Listen, don't be such a pussy.

  • @ghfakar Actually, I am not a pussy, I stood up against the government working horrible hours mostly graveyard hauling drugs interstate for gangsters, not my choice, I risked my life just to do my job, and you come on here and call me names? Have you ever noticed that Congress got $4.1 Billion dollars from lobbyists? I stand up for the union of people, union of family, union of workers, union of the united states of america; just not the criminals who are lining their pockets for personal gain.

  • @badattitude77769 So you are a drug dealer? A criminal. Period. You stood up against the government? So you think helping drug lords is all about freedom? So maybe we should allow cocaine>crack and all other drugs. Then maybe prostitution in all states, and finally murder? I mean where does it stop? So you THINK freedom is freedom to do ANYTHING you want no holds barred? I wouldn't want to give many men that much leeway. Scary thought. With all the nut burgers around.

  • @ghfakar I did not say I am a drug dealer, I jumped through hoops to get a job, fbi background check, drug test, physical, background check. I never said any of that, you are making things up. Do you every Think before you speak??

  • @badattitude77769 You were the one that said this>ctually, I am not a pussy, I stood up against the government working horrible hours mostly graveyard hauling drugs interstate for gangsters,< so what did you mean by it? Were you saying you hauled pharmaceuticals? Or what? I though you meant illegal drugs? YOU are the one that does NOT speak clearly. Take the damn drugs out of your system and maybe someone might know what the hell you are speaking of. And Please, Don't lecture me on charity.

  • Respond to this video... You gave to government? That is NOT charity> They are ALL paid plenty. Cops, firemen ALL OF THEM. The ONLY ones NOT paid enough are military. The rest make plenty. If not, quit. If you don't like your job quit. Get another. Your problem, NOT MINE! I owe NO ONE anything AT ALL! IF I decide to give it is out of the goodness of my heart. I DON"T give because I am forced. Taxes are NOT charity. IT is government THIEVES! Take your liberal trash and shove it moron.

  • @ghfakar I repeat, you should think before making outrageous accusations, I gave money to the widows and orphans of chp officers killed in the line of duty. I have quit and been harrassed off many jobs for speaking up about my fellow workers being killed, crippled, and poisoned by the company. You sir, make no sense, neither does your youtube channel; you must be a government/corporate shill, you sir are blocked, take your silly accusations elsewhere.

  • @ghfakar Actually when you count the benefits folks in the military are very well paid. Their housing, clothing, work equipment, travel accomodations, life and health insurance, collegiate and vocational education is all included. A young, single and childless soldier can put away most of his/her money or invest it for as many years as they are on active duty. With proper financial advice, it's a good headstart for someone who came from more modest means.

  • Respond to this video... Oh, and YOU don't line your pockets for personal gain? What, do you give it all to charity? Yeah, right. You are JUST as greedy as the wallstreet people maybe worse. You just haven't gotten the chance they have, yet. Maybe you will. Maybe you will invent something, improve a product or simply invest wisely. You don't know your future. No one does. Work for yourself, and stop whining, baby.

  • @ghfakar Yes, I have given money to charity, some were even government people, with the help of the California Highway Patrol, I am still here to spread peace and love, you might consider giving some money to the 11-99 foundation to help the widows and orphans who lost their fathers and mothers in the line of duty.

  • @ghfakar Liberal, Communist, Socialist? WHICH?????? You think these are all the same?

  • @badattitude77769 I don't WANT my employer to give a damn about me. I want him/her to shut the hell up, stay OUT of my private life, pay me when I get the work done and DO NOT give me any shit. Thats all I want from an employer. Other than that, they never agreed to more. They owe me ONLY what we agree upon at the time of hire. NO raises are owed by ANY employer UNLESS to hire you , that was a stipulated WRITTEN down item with their signature. And they can STILL fire your lazy ass.

  • @badattitude77769 Aint that the truth. That is why I only give them what they give me. If the only give me 95% then I will give them 95%. No more bending over backwards for any company who do not care about anything else than their bottom line.

  • @srvanddt1 How do you determine if the company is "giving you 95%" ?

  • @tuffguy428 You struggle to pay your bills while they are buying new equipment, and hiring new employees without giving you a raise or an advancement in rank if applicable. NO company really cares about employees, really. They can replace you in a matter of minutes with the next guy needing a job, and they use that to keep us at bay, and it prevents fair pay.Plus you got Mexicans that'll do it for less than half of what we deserve. $10 here is $100 sent to Mexico..

  • @srvanddt1 So true. They don't pay you what you are worth, so give them a little less than they pay for. Why kill yourself for someone that cares only about fattening their pockets off your hard work, and talent..

  • @badattitude77769 When ya find a job that cares....let me know....I will be there with ya! LOL

  • Oh, and you think that is okay? Yeah, a privacy act so now we cannot know someones name? Uh, really useful. Might have some nut cases out there that want to steal his identity? Uh, Yeah, right. YOU are a dumb ass Donkey. But with a name like that, who didn't already know?

  • listen to soundtrack 02 the medallion calls from the pirates of the caribbean soundstracks at the same time as this

  • The operator kept his cool, he is no dummy So happy he got to go home to his family

    Rob From Canada

  • Just a quick question. I got no sound on my computer so I cant tell what is the point in the video?

  • @wrxyluv Don't watch videos if you can't hear the video.

  • I like big monster

  • 4 people in 10 yrs. the flu is worse than this problem.... and for this they are going to use robot cabs? union guys must love that

  • heres an idea 5:24, theres the no longer burried blade. use the two d9's, hook on your burried man and get him the hell out of there.

  • @elmtreeroad Only problem with that is that you don't want to walk over to the truck which is over a rat hole with not one but two HUGE chains to connect to his dozer, I certainly wouldn't risk it, the way they rescued him was the safest way for everyone, but I do see your logic.

  • @bigseb84 i guess if time wasnt an issue knowing that he was still concious in the cab with radio communication. But if the glass on the rops gave in..

  • they need oxigen tank to

  • Somehow i missed the tea partiers and political connection here. Seems to me this was an accident. How did it get to be political????

  • thats some scary shit

  • dude crazy video I bet that was one hell of a ride though

  • "Remix this video!"

What the hell do I remix?

  • I hope all the tea partiers watch this video. Without prodding by MSHA, every mine would have multiple deaths every year. Owners and operators look at the employees as just another piece of equipment. Oh, someone died, go hire another one, there's plenty people looking for work.

  • @trct633 yeah, america never abolished slavery... they just shifted if from the fields of the south to the mines

  • @trct633 Very true! I stayed in the cab of a train and hit the berm and would have jumped out on those sharp rocks if not for remembering the msha movie; company could not or would not fix the tractor losing air, it was my fault after five months of writing it up.

  • @trct633 seriously? why does this have to be political? im just thankfull that the man was saved, and that the company was intelligent enough and willing to go to the lengths they have to fix gaps in safety. nothing is bulletproof, but they have sure come a long way.

  • idk why i watched this? am i going to be a bulldozer operator??? i just dont fucking know

  • yes just put couple scuba airtanksin the cab for emergency and have one mark 21 full head mask ho hardis that to save a life

  • why don't they use an excavator when those feeders get blocked?!? So they don't have to go over it to push it free. Is it faster with a dozer when it's blocked? All the technology we have, but the coal must be pushed with a dozer with the operator!?!? But the companies calculate like "oh, only 4 got killed over 10 years! We're not going to change a thing, this is the cheapest way! Operators enough!!"

  • @periesicsd If your dumb enough to do the job you deserve to die. Get a better job or quit bitching. Can't get a better job? should have paid more attention in school.

  • @74KU Ok. I'm also no operator of machines, but i atleast have some more respect than you. So, what's your solution then? If there are no more operators of such things, or for such jobs, how are we getting it done? No more electricity then? Roads? Cables for telephone or internet? Gas and oil? You really gave your comment a lot of thought, now, didn't you?!?! I even dare to say, with a comment like yours, you better paid more attention at school. No, they can't teach common sense at school...

  • @periesicsd Robotic dozers. no wages so saves $ as well as lives. Yes the initial outlay for such tools is large but as they don't need coffee breaks, toilet breaks, smoke breaks.. work harder for longer they will pay themselves off within the lifetime of 1 operator.

  • @74KU hmm, and all the employees?! All the companies that don't work directly with them? Your solution, depends what your job is, could affect you too, you know. Hell, why not, let's increase crime numbers, cause there are already so many people unemployed, a few thousand more won't harm us... Social studies arn't your thing hé!? No, i don't mean FaceBook with that... We've seen the effects of robotising factories over the years. They also moved to the Far East. Good for us, right!?!?

  • @74KU Hey cock smoker, people do this job because sometimes they dont have a choice and if everyone was a so called interllectual than there would be no power no electricity, no heavy industry, its dick heads like you that go off half cocked and dont understand the facts of what it takes do a job like this, so pull ya head in and wake the fuck up to yourself, and i am a genuine plant operator i do this shit for a living so i understand the risks, and the wages out way the dangers, dickhead

  • @animalmatt1

    1. There is always choice

    2. There are better ways. Robotic dozers for example.

    3. If the wages outweigh the risk, don't bitch when you die... because its worth the money in your own words.

  • @74KU yeah maybe on the fanticy planet where theres big tall blue people, theres robot bulldozers you dick, if you disagree with the methord so much just go around and turn off all your electrical items then otherewise let the adults do the work and you can go cuddle a fucking polar bear or something hippy!

  • Hey,, This is Sidney's Freedom one Mine/Plant i'm pretty sure.

  • How about air tanks w/ a mask to breathe?

  • @sabbath178 Thats what the self rescuer is

  • Trapped!!

  • Wow!!!!! I hope I never get trapped under a mountain of coal, going into the feeder.

But Seriously, Folks...this is an inportant video. How to stay alive when you're trap in your bulldozer.

  • wow boreddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • Chains around the draft arms, and pull it out with the 2 dozers.. drama queens.

  • @datssumfunnyshit That would've most likely pullud the cab off.

  • @LongHoodKW rops cab... i think not

  • Interesting video.... It's good to see these companies working towards positive outcomes.... Every day is a learning day...

  • awful to be in that hole

  • That in Sidney,Ky isnt it?? I drive for BJJR and we dump there.

  • why not a motorized arm on the floor near the feeders to stir the pile instead of risking a person falling in

  • I like how they really thought about the safety of their employee and implemented the new equipment to monitor things...

  • That's some scary shit! Oh, and wouldn't you know it, the most popular comments so far are the most uneducated ones.

  • fucking employees

  • THANK GOD HE WAS OK AND GOOD CO WORKER'S HELPED HIM OUT THAT'S RIGHT THEN A GOOD LAUGH

  • 07:30 all the operators have a own FLESHLIGHT! when they have to still their needs in the pitch black lonely enviroment, awaiting rescue!

Personally, I would prefer a FLASHLIGHT. But that's just me.... ;)

  • guys tellin the story of his life and hes all greasy n black lol fuckin goggles on.. say feeder again you fuckin hillbilly

  • 6:45 gravity is defeated?!

  • Jeez, he hopes someone saw him go in !! Damn he looks a little like Russel Crowe

  • Kudos to this guy for keeping his head on. I can't imagine what was going thru his mind when the hole caved in.

  • Seems there would be a method which didn't require feeders BELOW the pile, which seemsthe entire problem here. While I don't pretend to know the entire coal industry, I am an "amateur inventor", for lack of a better description. I don't sit around the computer all day running drafting & designing programs, but sometimes come up with decent solutions, usually to smaller operations than this. But I've got some interesting ideas already & may try to get those ideas to the appropriate people.

  • @offamychain I was thinking the same thing. I had one idea in mind. Then a short time later realized the simplest solution is a grizzly grate. Not that big of a deal.

Or even a series of concrete piling rising up from the inner edge of draw point. Making it so should a dozer pass the threshold, it'll only tip slightly before hitting the pillars.

  • @offamychain What's your solution then?

  • Do they wear their hard hats to bed? Safety first!

  • Porqué le hacen una entrevista con casco y sucio a Roger??

  • Operator, were gonna be docking you for those two hours.

  • yea i am 1,000,000 ppl to see this cip :D

  • wtf THEY WONT CAVE IN BUT YOU KAN KICK EM OUT HAHA

  • ashleighsours, Well spoken!!

  • May God (or whoever you believe in) bless these workers. Coal or hard rock mining is so vital to our survival as a society. These men and women deserve all our thanks and prayers for their safety.

  • STAY CALM AND STAY IN THE CAB?Ii"ll strangle to death the white hat who invented that

  • I don't want to take men out of work, but why arn't all the dozzers remote controlled? If this job is that dangerus why risk men?

  • @rocintrucker83021227 how does that take men out of work? still need someone to operate the remote. so your idea is better than you thought.

  • @123456789mischief Good point I did'nt think of that Peace

  • what is a feeder?

  • Most people dont understand that "these supervisors" have to use those terms to protect the companies interest, and the privacy of the employee.
