Yeah a shining example of how to do it. Have Europe build you a supercar, then lift an engine out of a Ford pickup truck. And there you go... An "all american" effort. Very much like the 60s Ford GT40 it was european built with an american engine.

Sure there are a few competetive cars in USA but amongst all the infernal flagwaving I must say its hard to find anyone willing to concede that others might do cars better. Even now that the entire US car business is in crisis recovery. GM taking their 50 billion rescue funds and fleeing the country while Chrysler being given away to Fiat for free. Meanwhile there are currently hundreds of top end GT cars, supercars, hypercars out of Europe. Im not insulting anyone as much as stating the facts.

GM and Chrysler fucked up pretty good. but the American automakers just don't focus on making top end performance cars. the only cars we have left with any performance potential aren't that great. they all try to be competitive with each other and not with their European and Japanese counterparts. the only attempt at anything close to a supercar at the moment is the ZR-1 (which is nice). there just needs to be a car to make a statement that we don't suck
If the Corvette shows us anything its that you CAN get the supercar experience without tech, styling, expensive materials or sophistication. But thats exactly why it not a supercar. Sure its fast enough with its 640 hp but where is the quality. While its easy to say "bang for the buck" its quite possibly the worst quality vehicle in the world for its price. Its Porsche money but for that you get plastic interior, steering wheel out of a Chevvy Malibu and seats out of a mailorder catalogue.
Its true US cars are more concerned with competing amongst eachother. Therefore your performance cars arent even marketed abroad. However I dont get this NEED to mix nationalism into cars. As if having 1 internationally competitive car makes up for the rest. Surely its important to have a healthy business before appealing to the flagwaving fanatics that just want SOMETHING to use as battering ram for a fictional american superiority. Such as the SSC Aero which in reality is just a quick kit-car.

Its pretty onesided. In USA performance cars have always been the flagship for the brand. Traditionally sold at a loss but acted as a magnet for people to come to Ford, Chrysler, GM showrooms. In Europe however... the reason all supercar brands are under the umbrella of huge car companies is that the supercars act as a testbed for technology that you will see in next generation familycars. They are the spearhead of research and development. Both words that are rarely heard in USA.

The straight on profile of the Falcon Mach 7 looks a lot like a Ferrari 288 GTO. Any other angle and it looks like a kit car. I hope they can clean it up before going to production. The fit and finish don't look very good from the pictures. And they need to bring the track width out a bit to line the wheels up with those fenders. I kinda like it, but clean up the details.

@boarderboi7 The point of putting the corvette engine was for several reasons, one being that it's AMERICAN MADE. 2) it fit the chassis properly and allowed the car to retain the proportions. 3) Corvette engineering is superb.

The straight on profile of the Falcon Mach 7 looks a lot like a Ferrari 288 GTO. Any other angle and it looks like a kit car. I hope they can clean it up before going to production. The fit and finish don't look very good from the pictures. And they need to bring the track width out a bit to line the wheels up with those fenders. I kinda like it, but clean up the details.

sorry but that falcon mach 7 gets a fail IMO, why is it that manufacturers are so pleased to have put a corvette engine into everything, including dishwashers. Try something original. I'd much rather see jaguar put their jet engine/electric hybrid into production than see another lame ass, light weight corvette with a nose-job selling for $200k.

@boarderboi7 The point of putting the corvette engine was for several reasons, one being that it's AMERICAN MADE. 2) it fit the chassis properly and allowed the car to retain the proportions. 3) Corvette engineering is superb.

@dymond78 that's not what I am implying, I didn't say it was a potentially bad car, I'm just saying it's so unoriginal, vette engine's have been done to death. look at the MP4-12C, amazing not because it breaks speed records, but because it is ALL original from the ground up. Anybody can put a vette engine in a tube chassis with some carbon fibre and headlights, does anyone else here see the redundancy? BORING give us something new and I will applaud
