I know it's tough to gets one's head around this music at first, but once that happens, the addiction begins and never ends. And what other music can you hear over and over and over again and always hear something you just didn't pick up all the other times?
Miles and his group in 1973!!! Fascinating, phenomenal, out of this world, halucinating, Manhattan jungle music, sonic music, most people weren't prepared for this back in 1973, it's still music for the future.
Some say this was Miles being lazy or on heroin and vast amounts of potent cocaine..some would say this is by far the heaviest shit you will hear in your life. Miles thought ahead, he hated to look back at the past which in turn produced gems from 69-75. He remained current remember, Bitches Brew sold over 500,000 copies. In my opinion his music lost its edge the 80's were terrible for anyone i suppose.
who else had their acoustic instrument (the trumphet) plugged up 2 a wawa? nobody had miles' sound - this is genius, organized improvisation? these dudes a going back & 4th AS A UNIT with different time signatures with miles n the eye of the hurricane ... !! shit ... !! miles is a bad motherfucka ... !! n fact all of these motherfuckas r bad motherfuckas ... !! mtume, cosey, foster, the whole squad ... !!
Lots of tears.
I was there.

Great excerpt of that 1973 show in Tokyo. (I saw Miles the same year in Berlin). But why post it in shitty 240p quality? 480p or higher please!.

Actually Eddie Harris used effects like wah-wah before Miles did, I do believe...he also SANG thru his trumpet going thru the effects.
It still doesn't matter...MILES and his band at this time were scary...I mean dark, heavy, groovy scary!

This exactly why Stanley Crouch hated Mile's '70s music. He said Miles was a Sellout! What an Ass...
