"you're not the easiest person that I ever got to know, and it's hard for us to let our feelings show, someone said I should let you go your way you'll only make me cry... if there's one guy, just one guy who'd lay down his life for you and die..it's hard to say it, I had to say it, but it's probably me..."
it makes me think of being in a jazzy setting, whether in a club or even at the beach at dusk in the summer, and winds are blowing, the sun is setting, and the sky has an orange/reddish hue to it. I'm w/my hubby and we're drinking our favorite cocktails and this song is playing in the background. Wow, I can see it all now! Thanks Kazekane, for uploading this version. Now this is REEEAL music!!!
naw... it seems to me more like its saying that the inner goodness of mankind is limited in supply so to speak. "I hate to say it, but its probably me" kind of sounds like "if i'm the one you have to depend on in order to lift out a helping hand, then this world is heartless indeed."
sting is like the pat metheny of songwriters...or the beatles of adult alternative-haha..no wait,he's the stone temple pilots of adult alternative,as well as the king of rock....
Hey everyone, this version is NOT the original. The original was released in 1992, with Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen. It was an artistic collaboration. Sting re-recorded this song one year after, without clapton and kamen, for the album 'ten summoners tales'
It makes me the of the homeless men and woman turned out on our American streets. I use decernment when giving change., but not when buying them food. The homeless and those on the street with mental illness could use friends. try being in the name of Jesus, Amen.
This version is all class. Sting captures a mood here that is sureal. I remember the first time I heard this song I had my headphones on walking in downtown Philadelphia with snowflakes coming out of the night, It was one those moments where everything comes together for an amazing experience..Thank you Sting and thanks for posting this.
it does work but the original had a weight to it that is now missing...slow it down and sing it with reluctance...like the guilty fact it is in the lyrics.....i love this...who the hell made him feel this way to capture it?
This is one of Sting's best arrangements and one of the best songs he's ever song. Back in the 90's, while stationed in Germany, my GF and I danced to this song on a darken office of a Frankfurt skyscraper. It's quite thrilling to dance like Fred Astire-Ginger Rogers with the beautiful skyline as a backdrop to the cool vibes of It's Probably Me. We'd also danced to Amy Grant's Our Love, Sandra's One More Night and Kylie Minogue's Put Yourself in My Place. Guys, place that on your bucket list!
i love this song off sting very god composed and the instrumental,..i remenber the fist girlfrendi have about 15 years ago before i m ine the armey,.. all off this album ten summurs talles very god
@Borys94 You know, I do remember this song was like the opening of LETHAL WEAPON 3, but I always thought it was this version. I didn't know there were 2 versions until now. Absolutely no disrespect to Mr. Eric Clapton, but I prefer this version. The muted trumpet just enhances this tune. In fact, I always thought this song---hell, instead of using this song on LW3, even though this song was a few years old, I believe it should have been used on a different movie---CLOSER.
@cjgerber19621 Man, I know exactly what you mean! For me, this song reminds me when I lived in Italy from '94 thru '96, esp. on those after-the-rain-and-the-sun-is-barely-setting-over-the-mountains-on-a-mildly-cold-autumn-evening walks thru this little town of Aviano.
The first time that I heard this song I was living in Paris (see fenderjones below) and the description of walking along cobblestone streets on a rainy night brought the memory of 1992 back with a vengeance. I'll never forget the three years that i lived there and this song will always, invariably, bring me back.
my mobile plays this one 4 waking me up ev'ry mo'nin... :) just luv it, thanks a lot 4 posting! this version just 859 times better than the other one with clapton...
Maybe you're right but you have to bear in mind, that it was recorded for Lethal Weapon 3. Harmony, chords of this version would be too strange for average audience and won't probably fit to the movie.
I don't want to say that version with Eric Clapton is worse. That bluesy solos and violins really have that... something.
I've been looking everywhere fr this song! I'ce been searching youtube and the only one I haf found were Eric Clapton feats. It was really annoying. Like you, I prefer this version. It sounds better....more classy and such.
