Why did the deer just stand still as the dogs ran by at the beginning of the video? That doesn't seem like normal behavior. Did I miss something? Were there other deer out of frame that the dogs were chasing? Even if so, I'm surprised the big group of deer stuck around so long. Neat documentation of animal behavior.

My Kangal ran a deer down into our fence which resulted in the deer breaking it's neck. Unfortunate but the dogs keep much more than deer away from the house. We have Mountain Lions, bear, coyotes, & maybe wolf in our area, so the dogs chasing off deer & elk is OK by me.

I believe dogs should be allowed to run loose - but they should know how to stay on the property. you cannot shoot a running deer. That does not give you a humane shot. Also, cyotes kill bu running down deer. That means chasing them untill they collapse from exhaustion. Dogs will do the same to the deer even if their intent was not ill. Deer cannot run for long distances like dogs.
Ive shot 2 dogs in my lifetime. Both were necessary kills & due to idiot owners that turned them loose. One was ripping out the throats of our baby lambs, the other killing our poultry. Not only did I shoot them, but the owners were forced to pay for our killed livestock, and fined by the county.

Here in California most any 29 lb dog that will bark can put the average blackbear or Mountion lion up a tree, although the bear will sometimes run for hours before he tree's. We have ranching operations in Idaho and Montana for sheep and cattle. We use several Anatolians for protection from wolves. Do not kid yourself, 2 wolves will take down an Anatolian or any other dog you put in front of them. You have to keep your herd guardians so that they can have even numbers or out number the threat. Generally speaking, wolves don't want to do battle with a large group of Anotolians but if one dog strays from the group, it's trouble.

I don't know where you are from but dogs chasing wild animals happens all the time, it's called hunting. Many people employ their dogs in the pursuit of game such as cougar, bear, wild boar, coyote, deer (with greyhounds), jackrabbits, birds, etc. Just about any dog from the sporting/working group will instinctively chase wild animals. It's a common occurrence, no need to overanalyze. Dogs and wolves are the same species, and they have many of the same hunting insticts.

I saw on the news that two kangals(even they look small to me) killed 4 wolves. The wolves tried to attack livestock. Probably, the wolves were starving and weak. And my guess, 3 wolves(even the big ones) cannot kill a polar bear.
What would you consider small? Kangals can be as much & bigger than 200lbs. Wolves would rarely if ever get close to that size (even in North America). Kangals also work in pairs. Kangals are normally 130 - 175lbs. The largest wolf recorded weighed 175lbs. Taking that into consideration a large wolf would be 150lbs & that is rare. you cannot shoot a running deer. That does not give you a humane shot. Also, cyotes kill bu running down deer. That means chasing them untill they collapse from exhaustion. Dogs will do the same to the deer even if their intent was not ill. Deer cannot run for long distances like dogs.

Ive shot 2 dogs in my lifetime. Both were necessary kills & due to idiot owners that turned them loose. One was ripping out the throats of our baby lambs, the other killing our poultry. Not only did I shoot them, but the owners were forced to pay for our killed livestock, and fined by the county.

Here in California most any 29 lb dog that will bark can put the average blackbear or Mountion lion up a tree, although the bear will sometimes run for hours before he tree's. BTW a black bear can catch a fleeing dog going down hill, the dog keeps turning his head to see how close the bear is and he runs into trees, leastwise my Dad the hound man swears to it.

you did alot of research on this breed of dog, are they yours? i could see a hand gesture on the film, while the dog was looking at the camera. i think you went hunting to film the dogs killing, but they are not trained to hunt or they would have had scent of the deer earlier.they are definately domesticated. the video is a fake. sorry, they are a herd guardian, not a hunting dog breed.

We have ranching operations in Idaho and Montana for sheep and cattle. We use several Anatolians for protection from wolves. Do not kid yourself, 2 wolves will take down an Anatolian or any other dog you put in front of them. You have to keep your herd guardians so that they can have even numbers or out number the threat. Generally speaking, wolves don't want to do battle with a large group of Anotolians but if one dog strays from the group, it's trouble.

I would consider where you are getting your Anatolians from. If you have several working at one time, you should never have a wolf kill one. If one wandered off, I could understand it. You should also consider a Caucasian Ovtcharka. They are not easy to get but 2 or 3 can fend off a wolf pack.

I don't know where you are from but dogs chasing wild animals happens all the time, it's called hunting. Many people employ their dogs in the pursuit of game such as cougar, bear, wild boar, coyote, deer (with greyhounds), jackrabbits, birds, etc. Just about any dog from the sporting/working group will instinctively chase wild animals. It's a common occurrence, no need to overanalyze. Dogs and wolves are the same species, and they have many of the same hunting insticts.

I saw on the news that two kangals(even they look small to me) killed 4 wolves. The wolves tried to attack livestock. Probably, the wolves were starving and weak. Shepherds say that's why kangals can kill wolves easily. Three wolves (if it killed them consecutively) may be true. BTW, the wolves in Anatolia probably is not as big as the ones in north america. And my guess, 3 wolves(even the big ones) cannot kill a polar bear.

What would you consider small? Kangals can be as much & bigger than 200lbs. Wolves would rarely if ever get close to that size (even in North America). Kangals also work in pairs. Kangals are normally 130 - 175lbs. The largest wolf recorded weighed 175lbs. Taking that into consideration a large wolf would be 150lbs & that is rare. I agree with 3 wolves not being able to kille a polar bear let alone a male brown (grizzly) bear.
