  • "Just drops down". On my 257, it hardly dropped down. It was a fight all the way. Why one earth, Acer, do you make it so tricky to access common areas?

    Thanks for the vid. +

  • I did not care about the video quality that I wanted to see what I could see.

Thank you for the description had previously ever been looking for a description and found nothing.

The video helped me a lot. ; )

  • Nice tutorial. Horrendous design, Acer. Wow.

  • Bought 2GB of memory from Crucial. This worked perfectly

    2GB 204-PIN DDR3 256MX64 SODIMM PC3-8500 CL7

Upgrade for a Acer Aspire One D2

  • Your video really helps. Thanks!

  • Keyboard ribbon cable:

The connector on the mainboard has two parts. The bit that lays on top of the cable is a hinged latch, about 2mm deep. Lift the exposed edge with a plastic tool or fingernail. If you use a metal screwdriver you may damage the ribbon cable. When open, the ribbon cable will come out easily. To reassemble, carefully hold the ribbon in place and make sure it is seated all the way against the back of the connector, then push down the latch with a finger or a plastic tool.

  • thanks it works fine , credits man

  • Hum i'm french and i don't understand everything.. Is it possible to put a memory higher than a 2GB ?? For exemple a 4GB will be compatible ?? Thanks !

  • @Enguee59 Sorry no. These motherboards chipset max out support at 2GB maybe newer models will support 4GB but so far I only know of 2GB max RAM in a 1 DIMM slot NETBOOK.

Désolé, pas il ne sera pas. Ces cartes mères chipset max sur le soutien à 2GB. jusqu'à présent je ne connais que 2 GB de RAM max dans un netbook 1 emplacement DIMM.

  • @abobo1 Thanks for the fast response ! :)

  • this is EXACTLY what I needed! I couldn't figure out how to get to the other side of the motherboard. I'm replacing a broken hinge assembly and didn't know how to get to the wifi wires. awesome tutorial. the video quality is decent enough to follow imo.

  • I have been check that my Acer netbook is currently DDR 2 RAM, Can I upgrade my RAM by DDR 3?

  • @staffersteward no, you can only use the RAM TYPE designed for your computer/laptop/netbook. DDR2 = DDR2, DDR3 = DDR3. You cannot mix them!!

  • Thanx a lot, good job! Really understandable and complete tutorial!

  • Thank you so so much! I found the netbook sooo slow, but with your great vid.I upgraded it myself, I am keen on DIY, but never though it with extend to upgrading RAM!

My netbook works like a treat now,Thank you for sharing.

  • dont worry my friend about how the video look i understand perfectly thank u i just wanna know wich one is the best ram i mean i hear that i suppose to buy the same that the original manufacture i mean kingston so i wanna know where i can get it but 2gb ram if you now let me know nice video...

  • Thanks very much for the video. The quality was fine and all necessary steps were clear enough. Your instructions are much better than the how-to video on Crucial, which defaults to an entirely different netbook model and procedure on this RAM set. Acer probably lost a great deal of repeat customers since the keyboard removal is so difficult and the original 1GB RAM is so insufficient. Thanks again.

  • Spent about 30 minutes trying crack this thing open to replace the hdd. Your video was a huge time saver. Great work!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • Thx u saved me some money!

  • Cheers, this helped

  • Hey buddy, you know what is the maximum RAM this product can take?

  • @hotjonee It's 2 gb according to some site whose name ive completely forgotten

  • I have the same pc. But i wanted to know where did u save ur data before u remove the ram? How To use READYBOOST using a usb 4GB sandisk What exactly will it do for my pc?

  • @dre8431 data is saved on the hardrive not ram

  • @Ahtomolly Thx.

  • This video made my upgrade very easy. Thanks!

  • i have a question its pertaining to the limits of different windows versions being able to accept more and more ram. example windows7 starter up to 2gb win7 home is 4gb and so on, with this system what is the hardware limitations can it only be upgraded to 2gb even if I'm running win7pro. also Thank you for showing us how to do something that the Acer website wont help us to do.

  • Greetings from Malakoff, France,

Many thanks for your initiative & humility. I'd just like to add feedback to the forum: removing the key pad proved V delicate. After pushing in the clips then trying to pry off the pad with a plastic card I had to tug & pull to remove the pad. It got warped in the job. The clips remained stuck. To secure the pad, I had to cut out minute rectangles from a plastic card and use them as sub clips. The machine is working albeit with a slightly deformed pad.

  • @iangmarshall1

Sounds like what happened to me, but the deformation is not as bad.

  • Dude, a lot of thanks! Without your video I wouldn't be able to upgrade my Aspire One. I just would like to let you know you helped a lot of people. Kindly regards directly from Brazil!

  • Just done this, I used Crucial.com RAM. My observations - only four keyboard clips are movable, at Del, F12, F8, and F4. The KB has a lip all the way around you need to get the other side to prise the KB out. I took a decorators razor blade and ground the sharp edges off giving me a thin but strong tool to prise out the KB. I expected the base "door" to drop open but it takes some force to pop it off, start at the front edge. Thanks for the vid, couldn't have done this without it.

  • Great video - Help me remove the hard drive - Would have not known how without it. Thanks very much

  • Thank you so much for this video. It was given in clear and consise instructions, and without it I wouldnt have had the confidence to try this.

    Thanks

  • 9 people broke their ram when they were putting it in

  • @ZerkPureFTW great comment sir ;) LMAO. how else can you explain the negatives, lulz

  • omfg thank you great video, all of it's pretty much common sense how to do but for actually putting in and taking out the ram is were u have to be careful, Now I can run minecraft/runescape and youtube at the same time with no lag at all, tyvm sir and have a good day

  • followed the video all going well until had to lift out the keyboard. it would appear that mine was glued to the centre left below the a key. suggest if you follow the instructions and can get a flexy plastic card under the metal keyboard carrier thats the place to aim. once keyboard out it was simple. thankds.

  • I cannot believe I actually got this thing done. I couldn't have done it without this video. Thank you very much. Really, the only hard part was getting around that fixed clip on upper left. I had to do some serious bending and had it pop out pretty hard. I don't know why Acer had to make it so difficult. There MUST be better design to remove the keyboard easily. The rest was very, very easy.

    Thanks again.

  • @abobo1 For my 2010 model (AOD255E-13144), you need to remove the 2 screws on the left of the HD under the touchpad in order to FULLY open the door. Without the removal, you will BREAK the door.

Again this is for my model and not sure if its the same for others.

  • I just updated the annotations to this video, so to help some people, I am sorry about this ... this video was a one time thing and I don't have the NETBOOK anymore, at the time there were no guides on HOW-TO on youtube and I stil do not see any to this day, so please bare with it, its just a simple follow through guide.

    Thanks

  • @abobo1 Thanks, I just upgraded the memory of my netbook following the instructions of the video, it took me about 5-10 mins!

  • The clips are very fragile, and only two of mine returned to the correct position. Also, the clip on the far left, between the ESC and F1 keys is fixed, and cannot be pushed in. Once the battery is off, and the clips have been pushed in, there are two square holes one the back which can be used to push up on the upper edge of the keyboard.

  • @MrScottMoser thanks for the tip I will add this into annotations for people to know from your advice. I only did this once as it was for a friend leaving the conuntry so I do not have the netbook anymore, it was like a quick learn video since there are no more on youtube, unless people posted new ones. Thanks anyways :)

  • i put a Hynex PC2 6400 sodimm 2gb into it. only $20

  • You deserve better recording equipment, because everything else about this video was completely clear, an excellent piece of explanation and demonstration. Gave me the confidence to do the upgrade, which was a success. Many thanks.

  • @NY3DFAN thank you for your comment I really do apprecaite it, I did try my best so thanks to all that understand.

  • it's very expensive to upgrade acers laptop rams

I have the new aod 255e I upgraded to home premium which I shouldn't have and it's too slow with stock memory I need at least 2 gb extra but it only has 1 blank port so it will never be able to upgrade to 3gb or more so the small netbooks arn't worth the money

get a toshiba or something else it cost more but you will be happy

  • @BlazyNonVevo its not expensive. its like $20 that what it cost me. and i upgraded to win7 ultimate and it runs internet smoothly and quickly even for some games. If yours has an issue that's something else.

Just because there is something wrong with yours doesn't mean they are all bad.

  • @halflife103 well i live in canada :( and it cost about 70$ for the 2gb card plus hst

  • @BlazyNonVevo your getting bent over... I also live in Canada, in a very rural part of BC. A new Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G was $31 for me. however that was through a local retailer. I got mine used from the same guy for $22.40 (thats with HST). Just find a local store.

  • @halflife103 i got my netbook at staples and the ddr 3 ram cost 70 $ new the brand is kingston I also went to london drugs and the ddr 3 ram cost 70 new I don't have a local retailer in my area but I will try to look for one :) thank you for your advice

  • thanks a lot i added a 4gb Kingston your video was great for that

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the upload! It helped a lot for the installation of the ram into my acer. I think the only one I had trouble with was the removal of my keyboard. It took me like 20 minutes because one of the clips near the ESC key wouldn't go in.

  • @mindbodyseoul same, i ended up like crushing the tab... but some of them got pushed in too far and are now innefective.

  • im dizzy now

  • Can i upgrade D255E?

  • @Joakim1298

Yes you can. I did it with mine.

  • @mindbodyseoul

    Have you D255(E) or D255??

  • Comment removed

  • @Joakim1298

    I have a D255E.

  • Thanks dude, your video helped me a lot!

  • can anyone help me, i just bought a netbook LT27 Gateway it has just 1gb DDR3 RAM, but in the main page you see that this should be DDR2, and in others DDR3, the thing is that i think is a DDR3 667, but i can find a DDR3 RAM with that speed, but in the bios and on stickers you see it, which is the right one???

  • @michnathalie I don't think they make DDR3 667 SODIMMs, but faster ram will almost always work in a computer that requires a slower version. My DDR3 ram is 1066, but I replaced it with DDR3 1333. As long as your ram is as fast, or faster than the specified ram, it should work. You might have DDR2, if it is 667.

  • I am having a hard time removing the keyboard. It appears that there are 4 small buttons at F4, F8, F12 and delete. Should I keep pressing all the four buttons and pull the keyboard while I have only two hands? How can I pull the keyboard? I do not see any groove around the keyboard and credit cards appear to be too thick. Thanks for help.

  • The hardest part is removing the keyboard - it's a shame you sort of skipped that part by already having the keyboard partially removed.

I can't get the keyboard past the non-springloaded Esc tab. It can't be pushed in, and sliding a credit card along doesn't help to shift it.

  • @stupidjunk878 - I just did it, and there are two square holes where the battery was. You can use them to push up the top edge of the keyboard. I wish he had told us the ESC tab was fixed! Once you lift up on the top right corner of the keyboard, you can pull the top left edge back slightly, to clear the fixed tab. The keyboard is somewhat flexible and will bend a little during removal. I have the N550 version, so it uses DDR3.

  • @stupidjunk878 you need to get under it, and pop it out a lot harder than youd expect.

  • cheers dude. netbook really needs 2g ram. why dont asus realise and install 2g as standard?

    anyway, thanks.

    r.

    bboymassuk

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • thanks for the guide, but why did you say at the end of the video (right after verifying the memory was accepted in bios) "discard changes"? i thought we should click on "save and exit changes", not discarding them.

why bother installing 2gb of ram and putting it into bios, if you "discard" this change in bios (so keeping as it was before the change, with 1 gb of ram!?)

  • @alecsus27 dude, this has nothing to do with the HARDWARE. Read up on the BIOS. Your supposed to DISCARD changes, because we DO NOT WANT TO make changes to the BIOS. This is how the computer starts up and runs. Again, this has nothing to do with the hardware we just installed. Readup about BIOS settings. Thanks

  • @alecsus27 *LOL* .....really??

  • Thanks Dude.....

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • Note that you need DDR2 RAM and doing this WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

  • @tntexplosivesltd I think that the one`s who want to upgrade there netbook/laptop/pc by thereself doesnt give a daMN about losing there warranty.. I think that they are capeble of fixing there machine by there own... dont you think? but thanks for your concern

  • @tntexplosivesltd DDR3 memory. Not DDR2

  • Thanks friend. Very helpful. Popping off the keyboard was tricky, but I appreciate you taking the time to make this video.

  • thanks for the tutorial, the others were misleading on how to do this, saying to access it from the bottom and removing the screws there, rather then removing the keyboard and pulling out the 4 screws to get the back panel off.

I would like to make a note about netbooks, they aren't as whimpy as people make them out to be, I have 3 netbooks, all three are used for 3ds Max and flash CS3 developement. They work great, strong little power houses :D

  • @horrorbroadcast You can use it to play emulators and some games but don't expect HD gaming or video or such a netbook.

  • i have the acer aspire d255e also, but when i did this my computer would turn on but the screen stayed black. heres the memory i upgraded with Kingston KVR1066D3S7/2G ValueRAM 2GB DDR3-1066 204-pin SO DIMM SDRAM Laptop Memory Module. Any Ideas?

  • I bought a DDR3 2G on BestBuy.com, but when i tried to install it it wasn't the right one...it actually didn't "fit" (although the site said it was compatible) , I had to return it at the store and i couldn't find another one there. Which one do you recommend? Where can I get it online? Thank you!

  • @dudigama The netdook needs DDR2 RAM.

  • Hi, i have an: Aspire One d255-n55dqws doing the upgrade i wll lose my warranty?

  • @NinoRapis Yes.

  • awesome vid man thanks im putting my extra 500gbhdd and 2 gb stick up in iti got this pos a walmart for 200$ not to bad

  • im playing half-life source on mine right now!

  • Nice, Video but it missing the most important part,

how to get that keyboard lifted. those little tabs for the keyboard that you mentioned > I have 5 of them on my netbook. 1. DELETE- 2. top of F12 - 3. top of F4. 8. top of F4 and the last one 5. top of the escape key.

I popped off some keys (Del & Ins keys, lost the little thing under the key, went flying across the room; i did not even bother looking for it this stuff is so small)

any1 have a vid for keyboard off - aspire aod255E-13444.

  • @z1dude1

i put F4 twice, i meant F8 at the first time

  • hey man i spilled a little eer onto my keyboard last night. there are two keys that don't work. probably because theyre kinda wet. got tips on how to clean it up? i see that theres a metal cover under the keyboard.

  • Hey Abodo1, thanks for taking time to make and post this video. This really helped me in upgrading my D255E. My only comment is that while trying to pry open the keyboard, there are couple of stops above function key F2 and another one to the right of Return key are fixed stops and don't push back like the other ones on the top, which makes make a bit difficult to take out the keyboard. I don't know whether they have added these stops in the latest model.

  • @youx970

I think that i came across these additional stop - really can't remove the keyboard.

is the keyboard that flexible piece of "plastic" thingy? i can't pull it out since the keys are attached to the hard part underneath or should i take the whole thing (hard part underneath included)

please can you help with some directions?

  • @z1dude1

    nvm

  • @z1dude1 The keyboars is mounted on a thin metal sheet housing. Once you push back the moveable stops - only two of them - you slide a used plastic card (like credit card) underneath the keyboard housing and bend the housing just a tad - not a lot - near F2 stop so that come out free. Now do the same with the other stop next to the Return key. Removing from the Caps Lock stop should be easy thereafter. Once the housing is free, just slide the housing out from the lower notches.

    Hope this helps.

  • @youx970

Awesome man, thanx a lot - i actually tried again and was able to get a video where the guy was removing the keyboard.

    thanks

  • I just upgraded my Acer One D255E with Kingston KAC-MEMHS/2G, and it booted up great. I can tell the difference with performance. The clip above the ESC key is not spring-loaded, it is fixed. You have to release the other clips first, then run a credit card between the metal keyboard tray and the plastic, down to the ESC clip, and you can get the keyboard to pop out. Thanks alot for the tutorial abobo. I would have been stuck with 1GB without it.

  • Thanks so much for this video dude! It Helped alot! Thanks! Am Subscribing to you!

  • Thanks for the vid. Haven't worked on anything besides desktops before.

  • Aloha,

I forgot to mention that I also used the Anytime Upgrade to get Windows 7 ultimate installed over the Windows starter. With the ram & the battery, it runs well. Correction on my hardware total, I forgot I included the taxes to total $352. I was looking at the net costs.

  • Aloha,

OK. I got the 2gb crucial chip in, & the 320gb 7200 rpm western digital drive in. Also went whole hog & got the 6 cell battery from Acer. Reassembled, put the keyboard back on, bottom 1st, popped the sides & ran the credit card down the top to finish the reassembly.

Took a while for the WD drive to clone from the 160gb original drive, but, it was slick.

Spent $217 for the Walmart netbook, $43 for the chip, $41 for the battery, $51 for the drive total $333. Try to buy one like this.

  • These Netbooks are great for ROMS.

I have every single NES and SNES game on my D255E, and bought the NES replica USB controllers...I have played a lot at work (im an Admin) and at home. More fun than any Xbox or PS3 i have!...

    Btw, I just upgraded my D255E to 2GB DDR3 ($23shipped on Amazon).

push in the clips (4) top edge of keyboard, gently pry up, slide out.

    unplug keyboard ribbon.

    remove 4 'door' screws.

    push out bottom.

    remove old ram, install new.

    install. Done and done.

  • @horrorbroadcast that wont make any difference, its called 'HARDWARE LIMITATIONS' which means the hardware used inside the computer was not designed for that.

Netbooks are like for emails, moderate web surfing and I would say a few youtube videos and such, with 2GB of ram you could probably watch movies, but I am not saying YES or NO to HD content. These things were not designed to be used as 'full use' computers like a laptop for example which has a more powerful video card in it.

  • @abobo1 How much of a difference does the extra gig make to this netbook? and how much did the Card cost? also, where can i get one?.

  • Aloha,

Just got me the AOD255E & have ordered the 2gb chip & the WD3200BEKT 7200 drive.

I found that once the 1st clip by the DEL key is pushed back, I used a single edge razor blade to get in & under the keyboard. Once I got it to pop up, then I put the credit card in. I ran the credit card to the F12 clip, pushed in with the flat screwdriver, & so on to F8, & ESC.

The left side of the keyboard popped up. I ran the card down the right side to the clip @ ENTER, & voila, I was home free.

  • It has 2

  • Does anyone know if this NetBook has two speakers or a mono speaker?

  • Thanks!! FYI:

-This applies for the AO522 (AOD522)

    -The AO522 has 4 spring-loaded tabs at the top, at F4, F8, F12, and between Ins/Delete

The keyboard is plastic with a foil cover on the bottom. Not easy to break if you're careful.

-You don't need to remove any screws from under the laptop (and the rubber feet don't come off

-If you accidentally pull the ribbon out like I did, remove the white holder (has two clip arms like the ram slot), slide the free ribbon end in place, and replace holder.

  • Thanks for the video...popping open the keyboard was HELL for me...smdh...but after that it was smooth sailing!

  • Great Video! My upgrade took about 5 minutes thanks to your video.....Thanks!

  • Thank you for taking the time to show this. Picture quality wasn't great, but all of your instructions were clear. So far, your instructions were the best!

    Thanks again.

  • Thanks very much. I managed to upgrade the memory in less than 20 minutes.

  • i would do this but i dont need to i own this and a dell desktop with 3gb of ram and a 300 gb hard drive but thanks for showing us how fyi anyone looking to do this if you mess your pc up don't blame him he did a great job showing folks

  • Is this the same way to upgrade the memory on a dual core model?

  • Thank you it was very usefull... i just dont know how to make the pins holding the keaboard go back out after i'm done

  • Yo, anybody. Is the keyboard solid, made of metal, plastic or what? Is it stiff or wimpy when it's taken off?

    Thanks in advance.

  • omg bro i have huge problem with the keyboard. the clip on esc button is damnit stuck? why? i cant press it :O

  • Can this netbook handle Sony Vegas movie maker. And will this be able to play minecraft?

  • @Constant14 no chance for minecraft 0,5 fps

  • thanks for the video i saw the hdd so hopefully a standard SDD will work fine. last thing i need to know is: does the d255 550atom run dreamweaver and paintshop pro/photoshop fine?

  • how easy is it to add a SDD hard drive... sorry if you mention in the video im still watching :)

  • Well, I'm a klutz. I can't get the keyboard off. I can get the tip of a screwdriver under the edge of a thin very flexible sheet that sits directly under the keys. Is this what is supposed to be pried up? The little tabs appear to be holding back something metal and I'm worried that the prying up the thin flexible sheet will damage something. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the D255 with Atom N550 processor. TIA - BTW thanks for the video

  • Comment removed

  • Will this improve game quality or will I need a new graphics card?

  • @jooperman netbooks are not meant for gaming, they cannot handle gaming at all, unless the games are flash based web games or really old ones that have low system requirements (i.e starcraft 1 or sim city 2000) examples. more ram means better performance and response from the netbook. heck windows 7 needs 1GB alone to function properly. i have no idea why it even gets 1GB. Netbooks should be 2GB standard if including Windows 7. Ram will help with overall experience using the netbook.

  • @abobo1 you can play maplestory on it without lag;D

  • For my Acer Aspire One AOD255-1345, I added a Samsung DDR3 2GB 1066MHz 204 pin SODIMM (M471B5773CHS). Note that once the battery is removed, the bezel at the top of the keyboard can be flexed by pressing to allow a credit card to be inserted to pry out the keyboard .

  • @tletter >> this .... thanks for the steps ... follow this one as well guys

  • Thanks, I used your instructions and had no problem upgrading to 2GB.

Someone wrote: "not worth doing if you are running Windows 7 Starter as their website says that Starter only supports 1GB of RAM maximum" but this is not true as Windows 7 Starter does see and use 2GB which is it's limit.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks man!!!

  • you do everything gentle

  • Many thanks for this. Followed it and put in the Kingston 2GB RAM stick you recommended. Some commenters asked about getting the keyboard out. I pushed the tabs in, turned the machine over and tapped on the underside till the upper edge of the keyboard came out. Then use credit cards etc as necessary.

  • Thanks for your video. I couldn't have done this without your help. Ottawa, Canada.

  • does it handle 720p any better with 2 gigs in there?

  • I confirm the validity of SODIMM of Kingston KVR1066D3S7/2G. It runs perfectly.

    Regards.

  • Thanks, great vid! :)

  • Comment removed

  • yea i found out it can only take about 2058mb. its a ddr2 5300 if i remember right

  • For the DDR3, Kingston say use KAC-MEMHS / 2G. However, not worth doing if you are running Windows 7 Starter as their website says that Starter only supports 1GB of RAM maximum.

  • Thank you for this video....I'm not a computer expert but like to do things myself if i can...your video allowed me to do the upgrade myself...and there is nothing else online about how to do this task...thanks again!

  • whats the most ram u can put into this notebook

  • Fuzzy video aside, you did a great job! Many thanks! I tried upgrading mine with a Corsair 2GB DDR3 1066MHz SO-DIMM module but it didn't work, so it's back to the shop. My AOD255 has an N550 chip, so I probable need the other RAM quoted elsewhere...

  • your welcome :) ... even though it was my 1st video and It seems very poor :(

  • @abobo1

Hi there. thank you so much fot the video. I have almost the same netbook as yours, just my battery is a 6-cell.

About the 1 GB RAM you've said that you are not sure if it is a 800 or 600. Well, yours must be the same as mine - 800. I'm surprised that yours works with the 600 you put in...lol

    Memory: 1013 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)

    DIMM1: Kingston ACR128X64D2S800C6: 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400 MHz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)

  • @abobo1

the netbook is: "Aspire One D255 25,6 cm (10,1 Zoll) Netbook (Intel Atom N450, 1,6GHz, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Intel GMA3150, Win 7 Starter + Andorid) red.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Blessings from germany :)

  • @abobo1 what 4gb ram stick would u suggest in a acer netbook?

  • @dzero247 I do not think this book can take a 4GB mem module. I think the motherboard maxes out at 2GB limitation. For the N450/455 models. I am not sure about the N550 DDR3 model. Contact manufactuer about that. Sorry.

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to make this! I could not have done it without you!

  • Hi, so wen i upgrade the ram do i need to back anything up or is it a in out job and everthing will still be there working fine as long as the ram is accepted?

  • @mjdee1 nope, in and out job nothing changes (except the RAM) :) ... just follow the steps afterward like I did before putting the keyboard back, boot to BIOS and see if its accepted in the system, then let it boot to windows and make sure you dont get any BSOD (blue screens) then you are good to go! The N550 DDR3 models are EXTREMLY PICKY with RAM as stated ABOVE!! Be careful !!!

  • @abobo1

If i do accidently put a ram that isnt accepted will it damage my netbook, i am getting the D255 with N550. If so can i just put the old 1GB ram stick straight back in?

  • I tried next modules:

    - Kingston ValueRAM SO-DIMM 2 GB DDR3-1333 (KVR1333D3S9/2G)

    - Kingston ValueRAM SO-DIMM 2 GB DDR3-1066 (KVR1066D3S7/2G)

In both cases the netbook didn't boot. I'm looking for new ones.

  • @vernerdm I forgot to say that my netbook is an "D255 N55DQcc" with Intel N550.

  • @vernerdm thanks for inputting this tip. It seems like our dual-core friend (N550) of the D255 series with DDR3 ram is really really picky. I am not sure why it is not liking certain modules. It should take KINGSTON of all ram modules? What manufacturer and speed was the original 1GB DDR3 stick in there? maybe we can help? Post all the details concerning. Only 2 brands I can think off the top of my head are CORSAIR and PATRIOT. (American ram manufacturers) but, probably all DI-FUSED in ASIA.

  • @abobo1 I don't remenber what the manufacturer is, but memory was DDR3-1333.
