  • @n0leman Well thank You! You know, it wouldn't be worth doodly Squat without you watchin'.

  • @pablopixies Thank You!

  • It's a Canjo!

  • at least if there's an apocalypse we'll still have music......

  • over a year later and this still fails to stop impressing me. dude, you'd better still be playing!

  • @MMBurns88 Yep. Am.. Every day..

  • @MMBurns88 Thanks.

  • what song or what genre ... i'm kinda n00b cuz i'm a guitar player but i really want to learn playing on banjo .. p.s. gas can banjo sound's great

  • @MA4VA The song's just somethin' I made up. You can stick it in what ever genre you think it deserves. Don't make no difference to me.. haha.

  • Sad song

  • Bad ass Clawhammering. Sounds great.

  • @blkfir Thank You. Yea, I like this..

  • I've just subscribed to your stuff, it's all great. you should seriously consider recording a few tracks and putting out a cd that people can download or buy cause this stuff is amazing !

  • @Gears182 Thank You! Maybe I'll get around to that some day.

  • fuck thats cool

  • Do you play anything other than Banjos? I build cigar box guitars and will be selling them soon but unfortunately I can't play a lick. I am looking for someone willing to demo them so I can post videos of their sound quality. I love building stringed instruments and am working on what I hope to be the best looking Diddley Bow anyone has seen. I also have to say, I love your car!

  • @ScrueLoue Thanks. Sorry, I don't play guitar, but there's lots of folks on here that do.. Good luck with your instruments..

  • i would love to buy a cigar box guitar!

  • @Grefeguitarist

Send an email to n001pa at yahoo dot com and I'll see if I can make you a custom CBG.

  • i have watched a few of your videos... rat rod, play banjo, make banjos. your turning in to my idol. do you think an old metal ammo container would work insted of a gas can? i enjoy makeing instruments (ukuleles, guitars, kalimbas, ect.) and want to make a banjo.

  • @thexrayengine Anything will work, and who knows you might come up with something completely cool. Nothing to lose by trying it. Keep me posted..

  • That was awesome.

  • Cool it has a little bit of the Sitar tone mixed in

  • I like it.

  • this is the COOLEST homemade banjo video i've seen. dude, totally make that record and i'll buy a copy.

  • Yeah fun is a good word for it!! I work with one man bands and bluegrass players. Check out Ben Prestage , he is my main man . He plays cigar boxes, you will dig it

  • How do you string it? Do you just punch holes in the gas can or do you use some kind of tail piece? You are good my friend! And I own a label..... wanna make a record? Im not kidding

  • There's a wooden stick attached to the banjo neck. I poke a hole in the can with a screwdriver, and drill a hole in a kitchen fork, bend the tines over, and put a screw through it and the can, into the dowell stick.. That takes care of the tailpiece and anchoring the neck.. Thanks! Make a record? Sure! Sounds like fun...

  • I absolutley love your videos

  • Thank You! I love to play.. hahaha

  • @rpeek I would really like to learn to play Banjo, i've heard its hard but you make it look so easy lol. You're like Banjo prodigy!

  • Actually not. I was actually the kid who couldn't play anything for most of my life. Didn't catch on at all till I was an old fart, but I kept at it.. That's the secret, right there..

  • will you be my dad?

  • Cookin can Gauzzo !

    Nice pikkens

  • i like it!!! now that's redneck!!!

  • You know you're a redneck if you invent a banjo out of a gas can, so you can get more miles out of it..

  • Man I like punk mostly but This is to cool I can't believe the style in that song its great

  • Thanks. Next time I'll shave my head and get a spiked collar.. hahahaha.. Just jokin'..

  • This is so fantastic, and in the true country hillbilly spirit, if you wanted an instrument and you didnt have money, you made it out of what you got, beautiful sound on this banjo :) good playing as well,

    best wishes!

  • Thank you. It's wicked fun to play too. hahaha

  • i love the sound of it! 5stars!

  • Thank You!

  • i wanna learn how to play the banjo !

and seeing you play with a gas can thats just plain awsome! only thing is banjo's cost alot of money! and theres only a few in indiana for sale!

  • That's too bad. Hope you can find one, or find someone who can make one, or make one yourself. It's one of the instruments that a lot of people have and do make. Thanks. for the compliment.

  • almost as if your playing slap bass

  • Sure is fun..

  • this fucking sweet!!!!!!!

  • Thanks...

  • Was doing some work painting back drops at the Louisiana State Cotton Museum in Lake Providence, La. and a guy who built gas can guitars came and donated one. I got to play it! Super cool. Very Mississippi Delta. Great job!

  • Thanks... I just love it..

  • I got challenged my a friend of mine to not only learn how to play, but also build my own banjo.

Got hugely inspired by your videos! You make such beautiful music, and with an instrument made from a gascan!

Well, it remains to be seen if i can learn to play the thing by Juli 8th, but one thing is sure! I am atleast gonna build one!

    Thanks Mr. Peek

  • Betcha! Good luck with that. Let me know how it goes. Make a video or two or three and share the process. Love home made music and banjos..

  • zounds good, but can not see finger work, or, is that a secr>ar> et> .. claw

  • Ain't nothing fancy to it, just a little drop thumb clawhammer.

  • wow.. I think that's yr best one yet, Mr .Peek... I loved the 4th/5th vibes you were gettin' in there.. possibly even some suspensions( ??!) Only thing near as cool as this was I recently heard Sam Bush play some great slide on a

4-string resonator .. really amazing.. which he followed ( and blew everyone's minds in the process) by doing Star-Spangled Banner on an Electric 4 String Mando WITH whammy Bar! man, is HE good... it's here on YT -somewhere....

    just look up Sam Bush.

  • You're welcome. I'm just an old motorhead with a banjo.. Weird combo, eh..

  • Did you bottle neck on that? I don't think I've ever seen anybody bottleneck on a banjo. Would love to learn how ta do it.

  • Yea, I did. I don't really know how, just did it. Try it, you might find yourself making some noise you like..

  • Haha that's the plan, you can never go wrong when you're sliding on something.

  • Yep, that's kind of how I've got it figured..

  • Cool. Now I know what to do with this empty olive oil can and banjo neck I have laying around.

    Nice frailing!

  • Well, there ya go...

  • That was great. You sure can frail the gas can.

  • Sure. First clean out the can and get rid of the smell if you can. I think there's a trick to that, not sure what it is, but someone on ebay who sold me one, packed it with something that absorbed the smell. Forgot what it was.

    Next get a neck.

  • i just found an old gas can in my garage and want to change it into a banjo, anyone have any advce in how to go about that, id love as much fedback as i can get... thanks... D can03

    Next get a neck.

Poke the appropriate holes in the can and put the stick/rod through.

  • Stick the stick or rod through, kind of line 'er up with your eye, and attach the stick end with a bolt or screw. You might have to adjust the stick length. Bend up a fork for a tailpiece. Adjust it and string it and play it. Have fun.

  • I made a video about this, called "Making the Oil Can Banjo." Check it out.

  • Dig the gas can... love to see what else you can fashion into a banjo!

  • Got an old '52 Buick hubcap out in the barn. Think that might be my next victim...

  • fantastic. it's so cool what banjos can be made from. just stick a neck through something, pull five strings over it and there you go.

  • I've heard people telling me about these, but I have never actually heard one before. When I was in High School, I made a banjo in Art class from a Pot I threw in pottery, duck tape, a neck from an oak barn board, and a chewed up piece of perch I stole from my parrot for the bridge. I wish I hadn't given it to that one girl I went to school with. Sure she went out on a date with me, but It never paid off.

    Cool Banjer

  • Tearin it up!
