  • nice! is your guitar tuned in DADGAD?

  • Not bad, but check out Frédéric Mesnier, hes a shiney, golden, acoustic god

  • love the cockatiel in the background!!!! Sounds just like mine. Superb fingerpicking btw!!!!!

  • Don't blame the bird! It's just doing the vocals.

  • Your bird would make a fine metronome.

  • dude i wanna jam with you

  • u should tune up ur bird in D ahhahaha

  • Actually there is nothing as awesome as watching my parrot while I am playing my guitar. When you see and hear that he is singing or doing these parrot dances, so that means he is enjoying music you play! While playing slow songs he is falling asleep with smile on his face :) You know :)

  • those who cannot enjoy the sounds off birds in the mornin,,, stay in your bed xD!!

  • 110,330 views? really?.....

  • @DavidPileGuitar: yep...don't ask me why...they all ought to go and watch McManus! :)

  • @DavidPileGuitar

    The MIZ......Really?....Reeeallly???

  • what guitar are you playing please!

  • Is that a cokatiel? Mine has the same yell, and annoys me too :D !

  • What a drama! poor birds, I can hear the whole music... ~.~

  • bird adds nice hrmony to certin piteches

if could i would put on my ipod

  • bird adds nice hrmony to certin piteches

  • shoot the bird

  • This bird is a metronome ^^.

  • that makes me soar like a bird ! i am in dadgad i play with a pick and i want to play like you ! any suggestiones ?

  • @Dimeshit666 put down the pick, otherwise its not fingerstyle is it O_o

  • @morgzlucas where do you see a pick mon aime? Tu est Blind?

  • @Dimeshit666 put down the pick

  • lol i think the bird is trying to ad its own track

  • very fine technical work

  • I have been glued to your channel the past couple of days. This is great stuff - keep it up! Cheers.

  • is that an bird I hear? :-)

haha.. but great man... I found a new tune while listening this.

    The Bird Jig :)

  • What's the name of this tune? I've heard Tony Mcmanus play it but I can't find the name...

  • Mike Oldfield Style!

    Great!

  • hey, you just got introduced to DADGAD. now take a step back. learn some fiddle tunes in standard tuning and transpose into DADGAD. because the strings are tuned down they tend to buzz when overplayed, so slow down. good luck

  • I like this. It's given me a few ideas. Only a few minor faults. The parrot needs to go, it contributes nothing to the piece, and you don't need to be so extreme with the hammer ons. You'll still get the desired effect being less obvious and pulling your whole hand away. I swear at one point I thought your hand was going to wack off the laptop. But nice playing, I enjoyed it.

  • how do you make that cool sounds at 38 seconds ive heard it before it sounds like a bird or somenthing

  • Love it.

  • Very interesting! A good listen. :D

(love the bird chirping along in the background too)

  • The bird in the background adds as a nice effect hahha

  • Well played and nice song! Is there the notation or tablature available please?

  • this is a nice piece keep up the good work your guitar has a higher end jangel it sounds dronefull like pipes consider stringing this guitar with octave high strings you will loose a lot of bass but will enjoy the even brighter cutting edge i strung my doug jackson rose wood resophonic with high strings an octave below standard pitch it was very barritone good for back up in the mix great for song writing

  • I HATE ADS

  • I HATE AIDS

  • The sound reminds me of the Irish Hornpipe. Nice

  • I love it!

  • the sound is sort of right but I wouldn't use an electric sound

  • and the birds sing da song! hahahah

    Nice :)

  • is your guitar tunned on DADGAD?

    sorry bad english

  • yes is dadgad

  • bird style lol

  • Great Job!

You got the right feel and sound.

  • Quite impressive. It sounds good indeed, yet you`re right, techniques aren`t spot on in certain sections but the overall performance deserves 4/5, which to me means ``very well done``. :)

  • nice playing :)

lol, you have a cockatiel dont you? Mine makes the exact same chirp every few seconds when he wants attention.

  • Sounds nice. Is that bird used for the tempo of the song? It makes this song even more fun to listen to with that annoying bird! hahaha

  • Put the Bird in the Freezer or Microwave!

Coming along nicely, it will be nice to hear the final work - flowing.

  • @14thetruth dude i own a parrot, i will have your head if you eveer swear at my birds like that.

  • I would make a coupel of comments on this.

The first is loosen up, your notes are articulated fairly well but it feels stilted.

the second comment iw oudl make on thsi builds on the last, celtic music is about groove and once you loosen up this will come but yeah be really conscious of rhythm.

  • i had a couple of birds .... the only way to shut them up for a while is to put a dark cover over the cage for a while .

  • yep they think its night..silly birds

  • You can also get some nice Celtic Fingerstyle riffs in C open tuning.x

  • I agree with the general opinion. Birds are fucking stupid and loud.

  • sounds awesome. i usually hate dadgad too.

  • dear god ima shoot the bird!!

  • kill - the - bird!

  • INCREDIBLE, BUT THAT DAMN BIRD!

  • Nero....I am a REALLY old Celtic guy and this sounds authentic to me.

  • tell your bird to stfu

  • :DDDDDDDD

  • hahaha

  • @RevJaWs I LIKE THE BIRD!

  • Very nice....

  • your playing is wonderful it will grow and grow

try slowing down your sections and repeat them over and over and over and over

relax your left hand or you will suffer later on,

    amazing 10/10

  • i think to bird went perfect with it xD

  • hah he gor coctail-paroot..

and the plastic bar is on the 3 fret if sombody wonderd...

  • nice cockatiel

  • tabs are you blind or what open you fucking eyes

  • amazing song man! any tabs? thanks

  • Your lack of attention to your ambient noise (blasted bird) is evident in your right hand. Gorgeous song, you have the ear...now kill the bird (ok just put it in the other room while you're recording) and keep practicing. Get yourself an Irish bouzouki....as I said, it's obvious...you have the ear....go nuts you celtic noise maker!

  • Irish Bouzouki? You mean that thing from Greece?... :)

Ah yeah i know what you mean, I just find the term funny - 'Irish bouzouki' - anyone for a few lessons on 'Connemara Gamelan' playing?

  • yeah dude..great performance but kill that bird!!!

  • work on right hand technique bit more

  • Wouldn't it be a good idea to cite where you learned this from?

  • wow awsome!! nice work, i love this style :3

  • hello !! i love celtic guitare, do you play in CGDGCD? do you have a tab ?

  • dadgad

  • pretty song, hehe i think your bird wants to sing along heheh

  • awsome, whats the song called?

  • That is time delay, you prat

  • Good tecnique. I've just back into the guitar and trying to learn the butterfly I foind on the net. Hammer ons and pull offs (two's and threes) are tricky, sometimes get a good sound and sometimes not. I've got to lift the action slightly on my guitar. The

  • I have never understood... what is celtic fingerstyle?

  • Basically just guitar accompaniment for the celtic fiddle and pipes , playing fingerstyle, usually in the keys of D, G (fiddle) and A (pipes)

  • There you go again Nero. God you're a jackass. The Celtic musical tradition has survived orally, and these are the keys that we apply to the genre today. Wow, you're right, we don't know EXACTLY what it would have sounded like, but we have an idea. The prevalent ethnic music of the British isles wasn't just dreamt up by someone a few years ago, its the product of many hundreds of years of surviving tradition. I guess nobody knows what's really Celtic except you, huh?

  • Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and forgive your stupidity, Nero. I'm saying that because I've decided that there's no way you're older than 17. If you are older, I wouldnt say so, because then there's no excuse for your stupidity, especially when coupled with your flagrant sense of self-worth. Have fun being really, really smart in your own mind. It must feel good to be so self-assured in your own fallacies. You must be a doctor of Anthropolgy! but then you wouldnt be wasting your time basing people.

  • Fair Comment. At least you didn't refer to me as an Irish Tit. I still say that the Celts are more mysteriious than we make out to know, as we are not 100% sure where they actually origional from yet. Plenty of theories. I stand by my conviction that their music is an enigma and nothing like our modern jingles in essence!

  • That was really cool but I started getting paranoid about birds in my house and got my butterfly net out to go look for them. Do you have birds in your video ?

  • nice man , i'm working on the same style of guitar playing just with rock genre bands such as Van Halen and Iron Maiden

  • you got bird in your room?

    NIce piece

  • A beautiful peice. I play classical guitar and almost forgot how pretty Celtic music sounds on a classical. Very beautiful piece.

  • hello me gustaria much I managed to score on this topic that you play, I like much, thank you very much

  • is it a Glenn Weiser arrangement?

  • nice sound out of your guitar, recording is alittle noisy, but the playing is very good, keep it up.

  • WERE YOU LEARNED IT!!???!!

  • :-) bird & i like ur playing, i hear some "india" influence to, in the higher pitched regions.

Not such strange maybe, since the celts may be from india :-), music is compatible anyway, and u made a very celtic impression.

    (how do i thumbs up?)

  • while your in dadgad go learn drifting by andy mckee

  • Excellent tune and excellent playing...but your parrot/budgie/whatever is killing me every time I listen to the vid...

  • expert, eh? ;)

  • what a moron....

  • its not fake you idiot, theres just a delay on the sound

  • i play guitar too :P its defintly not a fake you noob, how long do you play? 1 week? if its longer than its really sad

  • he really could have taken a couple of minutes to sync the sound though, its really annoying. tune is interesting...

  • Ive been playing music for nearly twenty years, this isnt fake its just out of sinc, that sometimes happens with youtube vids. Thats the only reason i could think of as to why you would say that, its not hard to play or anything, and people dont really fake guitar playing much, theres no point to it. If he was going to fake it he would have played something that required 6 fingers!!

  • @Pummers how is that fake? i play guitar aswell i have been for 11 years and i havent, it just seems like a guy playing the guitar with birdnoises in the background, hes got other videos playing the guitar aswell

  • @funkingsteamingli

    HATERS GONNA HATE

  • @Pummers Wow your stupidity is so astounding that I had to leave a comment to let you know that.

  • thats a nice vocalist.... errr bird youve got back there... its definatly adding some syncopation.

  • pretty nice mate, pity sound and vid tracks don't match... keep on with the good work :)

  • yea man, its nice actually. i only learned one song on celtic in DADGAD

but nice work man, go check mine out and tell me what you think.

  • Um... it's fake? I'm guessing you recorded a no-video take for better audio, and then just kind of played along... good stuff though

  • can't wait to get my paycheck and get my damn new guitar, and learn the celtic sound

  • hey, why does the sound not match the picture?

  • nice michael! hope to learn something from you in person later this year, who knows :)

    cheers

"someone from across the dutch border"

  • Nice job. I've yet to do a lot in DADGAD

  • MUY WAPO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah..no caged birds please...contradicts the freedom spirit of celtic music and culture

  • The bird seems to be digging it...

  • Awesome sound. Just lose your darn birds and I could've been happier.

  • Nice job. Nice Celtic sound.

BTW- I hear parrots taste like chicken.

  • first tune sounds like elizabeth kelly's delight. Perhaps try out some airs or slow reels if you prefer an interpretive rhythm for now. Another point may be to vary the ornaments a bit. Nice harmonies :)

  • 5 stars for the Celtic sounds you made!

  • thats very good! how do u learn these? just pick them up by ear from things u hear or do u learn them from somehwere?

  • absolutely stunning, man!

what's the name of this lovely song you play?

and is there an existing tab?

  • Hey very good, can u tell me where i found tabs of celtic music!

    tks!

    very good man!

  • "Absolutely beautiful!!! But can you shut that fcuking bird up before I kill it and you!"

  • The second song is Charlie Hunter's jig, I notice you've changed the timing quite drastically! I don't like it not being synced though, try to get a better one up.. I'll post one eventually..

  • This would be a lot more fun to listen to if it wasn't for that damn budgee in the background!

  • Connais tu Soig sibéril(A french guitarist qui vit en Bretagne) Il joue many in DADGAD

  • Awesome job dude!

  • Sleestack...This isn't about you...

  • A musical video that isn't synced is worthless.

Also tell your bird to shut up.

  • i do not know about techniques, but i fund that playing very nice

  • very nice

  • i luv this style of guitar. have tried a few songs myself from a book i have-i usually play fingerstyle blues. makes a nice change. you are good. the more practice the better you'll get. i really like the open D sound.

  • Stunning. Don't worry about precision, you're only an inch away if you can play that well like that. What's the name of that piece? Also, got tabs?

  • thanks...the first one is Catherine Kelly's and the second one...hm can't remember the name ;-) I've got that from the Tony Mc Manus Learning Video Vol. 1.

Great stuff by the way... it was very helpful (until it got a major scratch on it and I couldn't use it anymore :( )

  • haha, you aren't playing that guitar. rofl!!!

  • Would you care to back that up with evidence, you prepubescent unintellingent little prick?

  • Maybe its out of sync. Sorry, I found it funny. Song playing... hands doing something else. It looked like a joke. Probably out of sync. Bad day at the office asshole?

  • Give the dude the respect he deserves, that's all. It's not cool to accuse him of not playing it.

  • you are an angry young man ! :D

  • Does this piece have a name?

  • Wow, takes me back to the medevil days...Really great man!

  • Really nice, is the tab available?.

  • What is that guitar youre playing, who makes it? Sounds great!

  • It's a Lakewood !!!

  • sounds very irish dude. I love celtic tunings. Did you try low C tuning CGDGAD also. This adds more bass. The gauge of the bass string(s) needs to be heavier than the original low E/A string. That allows you to tap the bass strings or just strum hard creating wicked harmonics through the drone. not to mention the melody..

  • really very good work!

  • Great! and what's that whistling? a bird?

Can you clarify me some doubts? Is DADGAD tunning easier than the normal one in celtic music? Maybe I should make my brother try it... Do you know any good website to learn it (chords etc)?

  • DADGAD tuning is ideal for celtic music for several reasons. First of all, you have a tuning in which there are 3 Ds (including a nice droning low one) and two As. It is almost an imitation of the pipedrones when you are backing music! It is rather easy when you start, as the basic movable chord shapes work very quickly.

I might think about giving your brother a small introductive video lesson here when I find the time - to get him started :D

    Michael

  • Great, thanks.
