Actually there is nothing as awesome as watching my parrot while I am playing my guitar. When you see and hear that he is singing or doing these parrot dances, so that means he is enjoying music you play! While playing slow songs he is falling asleep with smile on his face :) You know :)
hey, you just got introduced to DADGAD. now take a step back. learn some fiddle tunes in standard tuning and transpose into DADGAD. because the strings are tuned down they tend to buzz when overplayed, so slow down. good luck
I like this. It's given me a few ideas. Only a few minor faults. The parrot needs to go, it contributes nothing to the piece, and you don't need to be so extreme with the hammer ons. You'll still get the desired effect being less obvious and pulling your whole hand away. I swear at one point I thought your hand was going to wack off the laptop. But nice playing, I enjoyed it.
this is a nice piece keep up the good work your guitar has a higher end jangel it sounds dronefull like pipes consider stringing this guitar with octave high strings you will loose a lot of bass but will enjoy the even brighter cutting edge i strung my doug jackson rose wood resophonic with high strings an octave below standard pitch it was very barritone good for back up in the mix great for song writing
Quite impressive. It sounds good indeed, yet you`re right, techniques aren`t spot on in certain sections but the overall performance deserves 4/5, which to me means ``very well done``. :)
The first is loosen up, your notes are articulated fairly well but it feels stilted.
the second comment iw oudl make on thsi builds on the last, celtic music is about groove and once you loosen up this will come but yeah be really conscious of rhythm.
Your lack of attention to your ambient noise (blasted bird) is evident in your right hand. Gorgeous song, you have the ear...now kill the bird (ok just put it in the other room while you're recording) and keep practicing. Get yourself an Irish bouzouki....as I said, it's obvious...you have the ear....go nuts you celtic noise maker!
Good tecnique. I've just back into the guitar and trying to learn the butterfly I foind on the net. Hammer ons and pull offs (two's and threes) are tricky, sometimes get a good sound and sometimes not. I've got to lift the action slightly on my guitar. The
There you go again Nero. God you're a jackass. The Celtic musical tradition has survived orally, and these are the keys that we apply to the genre today. Wow, you're right, we don't know EXACTLY what it would have sounded like, but we have an idea. The prevalent ethnic music of the British isles wasn't just dreamt up by someone a few years ago, its the product of many hundreds of years of surviving tradition. I guess nobody knows what's really Celtic except you, huh?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You're right, I don't know what Celtic music sounds like and neither do you! I suppose the Celts told you orally as you suggested. Thats like telling somoneone what David Bowie sounds like and expecting it to be reproduced exactly hundreds years later. What a dumbass.
Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and forgive your stupidity, Nero. I'm saying that because I've decided that there's no way you're older than 17. If you are older, I wouldnt say so, because then there's no excuse for your stupidity, especially when coupled with your flagrant sense of self-worth. Have fun being really, really smart in your own mind. It must feel good to be so self-assured in your own fallacies. You must be a doctor of Anthropolgy! but then you wouldnt be wasting your time basing people.
Fair Comment. At least you didn't refer to me as an Irish Tit. I still say that the Celts are more mysteriious than we make out to know, as we are not 100% sure where they actually origional from yet. Plenty of theories. I stand by my conviction that their music is an enigma and nothing like our modern jingles in essence!
That was really cool but I started getting paranoid about birds in my house and got my butterfly net out to go look for them. Do you have birds in your video ?
Ive been playing music for nearly twenty years, this isnt fake its just out of sinc, that sometimes happens with youtube vids. Thats the only reason i could think of as to why you would say that, its not hard to play or anything, and people dont really fake guitar playing much, theres no point to it. If he was going to fake it he would have played something that required 6 fingers!!
@Pummers how is that fake? i play guitar aswell i have been for 11 years and i havent, it just seems like a guy playing the guitar with birdnoises in the background, hes got other videos playing the guitar aswell
first tune sounds like elizabeth kelly's delight. Perhaps try out some airs or slow reels if you prefer an interpretive rhythm for now. Another point may be to vary the ornaments a bit. Nice harmonies :)
The second song is Charlie Hunter's jig, I notice you've changed the timing quite drastically! I don't like it not being synced though, try to get a better one up.. I'll post one eventually..
i luv this style of guitar. have tried a few songs myself from a book i have-i usually play fingerstyle blues. makes a nice change. you are good. the more practice the better you'll get. i really like the open D sound.

sounds very irish dude. I love celtic tunings. Did you try low C tuning CGDGAD also. This adds more bass. The gauge of the bass string(s) needs to be heavier than the original low E/A string. That allows you to tap the bass strings or just strum hard creating wicked harmonics through the drone. not to mention the melody..
Can you clarify me some doubts? Is DADGAD tunning easier than the normal one in celtic music? Maybe I should make my brother try it... Do you know any good website to learn it (chords etc)?
DADGAD tuning is ideal for celtic music for several reasons. First of all, you have a tuning in which there are 3 Ds (including a nice droning low one) and two As. It is almost an imitation of the pipedrones when you are backing music! It is rather easy when you start, as the basic movable chord shapes work very quickly.
I might think about giving your brother a small introductive video lesson here when I find the time - to get him started :D
