This situation is similar to how Nixon treated the Shafer Commission. When the scientists did their research and came back telling Nixon marijuana was safe and shouldnt carry criminal penalties, Nixon got rid of them, threw their research in the trash can, and made further research illegal in the U.S.
Now Gordon's scientists are quitting on him because he refuses to accept their claim that marijuana is safer than alcohol and tobacco.
who to believe, the scientists or the politicians?

And I thought the city council was a bunch of outdated dinosaurs :) Very well said Mr. Vice-Mayor!!! Long Beach should be proud to have someone like this on the Council.
