Vang Vieng was so much fun. Can't believe how much cool stuff has been added since I was there, when the swing and flying fox both came from a platform tied to a tree.
Ha. I was there a few years ago. I opted not to rent a tube, and decided to swim instead. Bad idea. I almost got sucked under a couple of times, because the current was rather strong. It was during the rainy season. But anyways, yeah, good times. I encourage everyone to visit Laos.

I was there only 3 yrs ago and it looks to have changed alot even since then??,concrete slides what the??.Theres alot of other things to do around this area if your prepared to have a look, caves, hiking ect......most just go tubing get drunk and watch re-runs of friends for breakfast......lol have a good look around if u go there and be surprised.
Fuck i had a great time tubing! that slide is amazing. and has one of the best swings. They tore down a bar just before we got there 10th December 2009. get into tubing quick before it gets fucked over like phuket in 10 years
before you could tube in VV without the music blaring from a bar every few meters with silly swings. Before it was a tranquil experience, not a spring break like fest. Thank god the VV twats are too predictable and insecure so the rest of Laos stays free of them.
vV is not vV anymore. It belongs to tourists now and lost all of it's true beauty. I agree, it's pretty sad and I hope it does not spread to other parts of Laos.
i met this waldo character in vang vieng and on the train to the border with thailand. he claimed to have made smile bar the best club in vang vieng but starting the texta writing on bodies craze.
I miss this place so much, its paradise!

It was around mid January 2009. I saw another Waldo in Currumbin Australia on the Gold Coast about two weeks ago. He's travelin a bunch these days.
