Proper extended front end braking calls for an initial gentle application of the rear brake to slow the front end slightly and to bring down the front end to increase traction and then gradually increase front brake as your weight and some of the bike's weight transfers forward and all the while either maintaining or decreasing the rear brake resulting in 70/30 brake distribution.
