The whole point of a worker is to supply demand. If my wages stagnated, that does not mean I can go commit a robbery; that is criminal. Coercive unions are criminal, and people that solicit/aid and abet/initiate them should be charged as such.

@qwertypoiu4321 While there's nothing wrong with corporations allowing wages to stagnate, inflating their stock prices by laying people off and eroding their benefits? Your bullshit magical markets do nothing for the worker. Their only recourse is to organize and fight for everything they can get. Von Mises and his corporate whore followers can suck it!

@JBuckley Dont bother with qwertypoiu4321, he/she is a dedicated troll, literally repeating the same thing ad nauseam in every video he/she comments in, saying the same thing verbatim in at least two other vids. "coercive unions are criminal, and those who aid and abet them should be charged as such", and even "anarchists are criminal statists", which makes no fucking sense at all. Also, qwertypoui4321 believes everybody except vegan voluntaryists are incoherent criminal reactionary Statists.
@JBuckley these markets are what enables you to post your bullshit on the internet and allows people across the world to see it in the blink of an eye. you think because von mises disagrees with you he's a corporate whore, its people like von mises who corporations hate because he advocates stripping them of all their governmental protections and benefits given by the neocons and the sharing caring democrats.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz I don't have a problem with markets. I have a problem with unregulated markets because without regulation they screw the little guy every goddamned time. And I think pretty much anybody who does not support the rights of workers to organize themselves for better treatment is a corporate whore.
@JBuckley you've never seen a truely unregulated market, allowed to play out in full over a decent period of time, the reason the little guy gets screwed is because the authorities side with someone for money and give that someone a leg up, other competitors in the market die out and the privaleged get fat, lazy and uncompetative but because they are paying off the authorities they run a monopoly, the free market busts that wide open and brings competition back into the game.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz That's the thing about libertarian economics. They work great in the vacuum of theory. But it doesn't take the real world into consideration. That's why we need regulations and unions and other protections for those who can't buy themselves the power to stack the decks in their favor. The fact is that the more things get deregulated, the more the wealth flows to the top directly from the bottom. And your solution would be even less regulation? I reject that.
@JBuckley libertarian economics is what brought the usa, the uk, europe from being a dump into our relatively amazing standards of living, as the government gets more involved in the economy surprise surprise the economy starts messing up, btw i dont oppose unions i oppose giving them any special privalege. what makes you think deregulation causes wealth to flow to the top?
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Wow! Just wow. You really don't get it at all. It's the libertarian economics that have allowed working class wages to stagnate as executive wages soar. It's a race to the bottom on labor costs, Wall St vs Main St, class warfare plain and simple. The ruling classes have bought the government to allow this all to happen, though, you guessed it, DEREGULATION. It's so incredibly basic that I am astounded that you refuse to accept it.
@JBuckley with libertarian economics the government has little influence so even if every part of it was 100% bought out by "the ruling class" it wouldnt make much difference, your making the common mistake of confusing capitalism with corporatism.
@JBuckley the government comes in only to stop people being coerced by others, to get a thing off an individual a private company has to entice with good services and things people want, it doesnt just make a law under the pretext of saving the children/elderly/whatever and take your money by what at the end of the day is threat of arrest.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz That would be nice if it actually worked. But it doesn't. Private industry is out to make a profit, and many of the things that we need to keep a healthy, working civilized society are simply not profitable. I'm sorry that you feel that contributing to society makes you a victim of coercion. Hopefully when you get a little older and wiser you'll see the benefit of being a member of a society. Even Ayn Rand took medicaid when she was sick.
@JBuckley i should think so, seeing as she'd been getting robbed to fund it the rest of her life, it does work too, it took todays developed nations from the third world into what we are today, our poor people are rich beyond beleif in the grand scheme of things, but because its not perfect we get all the marxists completely buggering things up laying waste to our economies with regulation and tax.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Pure marxism is as ridiculous as pure libertarianism. We don't live in a black and white world. We live in a world with shades of gray. The medium ground is some regulation and tax. What has been laying economies to waste is the race to the bottom on labor costs and a wall st vs main st top down class war.
@JBuckley and how would that lay waste to an economy? regulation costs money, to be in business you must comply with the regulations, to comply with the regulations you have to spend money, eg a raggedy shop building needs to be done up a heck of a lot to pass H+S regulations, ie to start a business you have to be rich or established already, this means much less competitors in the market, which means much less pressure on the existing companies to provide a good service and wages
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz When you drive down wages, you hurt the consumers who then can afford to buy less stuff, forcing prices further down, forcing wages (but not the executive wages of course) further down, in a vicious cycle of economic destruction. That is also why it continues to get harder and harder for people to start small businesses. It's an unsustainable system. There are winners and losers and these magical mystical markets are not going to fix that. They're a fairy tale.
@JBuckley and if these regulations werent stifling business startups there would be more job positions available, meaning to get good workers the companies have to have competative wages, if markets are a fairy tale, keynesianism is a stephen king novel
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Again you offer solutions that sound great in the vacuum of theory, but just wouldn't work in the real world. Magical markets that make everything better for everybody sound great. But they would not work, because they assume everybody will just do the right thing. Every push in that direction proves to be a disaster for the majority of people while a few at the top benefit. After every failure the think tanks funded by those few who benefit rush to blame it on anyone else.
@JBuckley no i assume that people will generally act in their own self interest, which, in a society where people only part with their stuff voluntarily, it will be in the interests of the businessman to do the right thing because its the only way people will part with their money, and you can claim its all "the vacuum of theory" all you want but that alone doesnt mean a thing. its like if i just said "you are wrong because you're wrong"
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz I urge you to go visit a libertarian paradise where there is no regulation and free markets and tell me how great it is. There's one country in the world like that. Somalia. There's your wonderful theory tested and failed.
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Somalia has a minimal state and a completely free market. Libertarian paradise in action! Please put your money where your mouth is and move there and tell us how great it is.
@qwertypoiu4321 Unions, when properly managed and facilitated serve a useful function. The problem with them as with certain employers is natural human GREED! It all boils down to money and most humans don't care who they crap on to get more of it. If we spent more time looking out for each other rather no. 1 we'd be a far richer race!
@MrSundered "Unions, when properly managed and facilitated"
I.E. voluntarily.
"serve a useful function."
Yes, currently non-existent voluntary unions find the voluntary, adaptive market wage and make sure workers are getting no less than that.
There is nothing wrong with voluntary greed, demand itself is greed. There is no such thing as abolishing voluntary greed, but abolishing coercion would make society as rich a race as humanly possible.
@Deep13Deep13Deep13 haha, sneaky. we anarchists know that once unionism is attained, revolution is not too far behind. for once the workers realize they don't need bosses in their workplace, they will soon realize they do not need bosses in political office either. VIVA LA REVOLUCION! STAY STRONG WISCONSIN!
Regardless of your views on Union, they are Pressure groups that represent that back bone of nations. I would rather the people that keep our nations ticking got a decent pay and good working conditions. Billy Bragg is an inspiration to us all as well, regardless of left or right. He promotes political activism, and anyone that promotes politics is a good person in my eyes.
@y2ktube What would you rather? People working in poor conditions with less than minimum wage? Prosperity isn't just illustrated by how well the biggest businesses are doing. Why would you judge the prosperity of a country by how well it's richest few are doing?
@y2ktube Whens the last time you threw a wrench to a "American" car. The big three went after the unions after they finished off Studebaker. Your car is assembled here with import parts from red china&mexico. Support slavery in the 21st cent. buy American. Unions are crooks too. Draft em all.....
still cant believe that in a country raped by thatcher and her bully boys that the counrtry elect in another slithering tory slimeball. it seems like only yesterday i can remember my dad burning the doors in the house as we couldnt afford the coal............. i have been union all my working days not over pay but over rights, often people mistake unions only to deal with pay but they also make sure that companies dont piss on you, and treat you like shit.
Do not fall fowl of falling in with public opinion and what is fed to you by the media. It's correct that trade unions have made some grave mistakes in the past, and they have been led by tyrants who are worse than the despots that they were originally formed to overthrow. This only reinforces the need to have leadership of the many and not of the few . We take for granted the inalienable rights that we have as workers -they are not absolute - the fight is ongoing - piss on Thatchers grave!!
@stonerosesphil Your right, he should have blew up the houses of parliament... if that was his intention. He didn't actually try to blow them up, he was just framed because he was a catholic leader in a protestant country.
@707Kilroy The problem with unions is that they are largely unnecessary in 1st world countries. There are laws in place that prevent mistreatment of workers, and they have strangled every major manufacturing industry, especially in the U.S. What do you think destroyed the auto industry. It was people getting paid $25/hour to watch a robot do a job they used to do because of the fact that they were in a union. In developing countries, the opposite is true, but where we live, unions have no place.
@FreshFruit89. I find it telling that you are blaming the line worker for the decline in the American Auto industry.
I wonder if you also blame the home owners for the downfall of America.
Trade-unions are need in the Western industrial nations now more then ever. The income disparity in America is now the same as it was during the first depression. The richest 1 percent of Americans now take home almost 24 percent of income, up from almost 9 percent in 1976.
@707Kilroy Actually, I do blame home owners for the financial crisis. They are equally as responsible as the banks. Home owners who were living beyond their means accepted loans they couldn't pay off and should have known better.
You know why the Japanese auto industry has taken over? They don't have unions in Japan. No one deserves $30/hour to drive a forklift or to weld. You can learn both in a few days. I did. I'm a proud on-union laborer, and i rely on my skill to determine pay, not a union.
@FreshFruit89 That's right, the Japanese car industry obliterated the USA's because they exploited their workers better. Not because their cars were more fuel efficient, cleaner, smaller, better quality construction etc etc. Nothing like that at all...
@FreshFruit89 japanese auto companies produce cars for the american market in the united states under a uaw contract. japanese auto manufacturers have taken over because they are better managed than us auto manufacturers, not because the pay slave wages. and $30 an hour isn't much when the corporate execs in the same company are earning $30,000 an hour. nobody deserves $30,000 an hour arranging the outsource of labor to third world countries while the forklift drivers and welder do all the work
John Maynard Keynes, the father of liberal economic policies said "There are the Trade-Unionists, once the oppressed, now the tyrants, whose selfish and sectional pretensions need to be bravely opposed".
why cant the US realise that socialism, communism even, have fuck all to do with the iron curtain?? that was just totalitarianism and oligarchy dressed as communism. it's simple, the principle concept of socialism is to lessen the divide between the richest and poorest. the reason it hasn't worked over night is simply that the rich don't want to share, calling it stealing, despite the hypocrisy of the fact that they have conceived several systems wherein they can steal from the poor legally
I like Billy Bragg. Saw him in Baton Rouge (yes Baton Rouge) about twenty years ago. But old red dead Labour (or labor here in the States) ain't the solution to anything. The Iron Curtain has fallen (thank goodness) and there is a time to move on and to try and think of something new. As the Clash noted (and Billy should take note) "If you have been trying for years, we've already heard your song"
Lets try local,small-scale anarchy,in the spirit of Kropotkin,Bakunin or Proudhon.
Instead of a global economic system that knows no national allegiance & has for the past century benefitted the top 2% of the nation as well as the top 10% of the globe. :)
I confess I have no answer. I dont like Big Biz & I dont like Big Government. A Catch 22 perhaps. I think an extreme Federalism might be the answer & I am aware that such a system would produce b/w groups winners & less than winners. I am enough of a Darwinist to accept such an outcome on a small group to group scale. Evolution and competion & success & failure are scientific constants. The best that can be achieved is to limit the damage done to the weakest as a result
@LTF6161 I can relate to what you are saying, i think big gov't is as corrupt as big biz...i've always just wanted a balance between the two, as equal as possible, so that there is fairness for as many as possible...the reason i've gotten more and more "liberal" the past 20 years is i don't believe there is any balance at all between corporate america and the government...worse, the government (both parties) is bought and paid for, that's why i typically vote left they're slightly less whorish.
@JBuckley No problems. What suprises me is how many people hate the unions, and yet, know nothing regarding their history. Even in the last two decades when corporations have run wild and the unions have been beaten down how is it that our countries are so financially broken. Is that not proof that the Free market has been the biggest swindle of our times. Probably not to the meatheads who take the mainstream propaganda regarding these issues.
@savechristianityinuk why don't you explain your statement? I think that today, thanks to all the wars in the name of capitalism and thanks to disoccupation and economic crisis, being against comunism is like hitting your balls with a hammer.
I was in 2 unions for 2 jobs. I was mistreated at both jobs. The Teamsters didn't help me the first time. The UAW didn't help me at the 2nd. They did take my money. I still believe a bit (I'm from Flint, MI home of the U.S. unions), but I think they are for the greater good. I have been unemployed for a year because of a employee-management related nervous breakdown. Thanks Mr. Hoffa.
@deathtotheunions well now you know, don't make the mistake twice...and just for future references "realise" is spelled like "realize" there's no "s". :) You're welcome.
@05Bluenose Realise (there is a red line underneath "realise" asking me if i meant to say "realize", just sayin) is the British spelling and realize is the American spelling.
If you want to turn a liberal into a conservative, just wait twenty years. An old one but still quite true. The working class can kiss my ass, I've got the foreman's job, at last.
several days ago several miners lost their lives in a non union mine run by massey coal and don blankenship-lets send the bastard to jail and unionize the mines so we can all work in a safe environment-demand it now-send emails to joe manchin gov. of w va-and massey coal letting them know we are bringing massey down
This organization is to prevent the more radical elements of the union from taking power and creating real change. It is controlling the unions and preventing them from reaching their objectives. I have heard that it is financed by the CIA
theres many ppl on here putting down unions and saying it promotes poor work quality and drug/alcohol abuse. My dad has been in the carpenters union, and my mom in the electricians union, for their whole life. They dont drink or do drugs and they take much pride in their work. Theyve raised a family of me and my three bros, im very proud of that. I guess if you dont like unions you can get payed $8/hour get treated like crap, or work at walmart. I have faith in unions and will untill i die.
Me too, yes there has been some ordinary things unions have done but they have done more for the greater good. In Australia history shows that the unions tried to stop pig iron being sold to the Japanese in the 40's because of their hostile intentions, green bans on importing rainforest timber and preventing the destruction of heritage housing through Jack Munday.

@Unity678 unions steal work from the little man.when unions get contol of a market you can either join them or try to get work without them.it tries to take away the virtues of individuals...and thats why the only options left are $8 an hr at walmart.
@NotoTruth Actually, when unions are strong, everybody's wages and benefits go up in order to stay competitive. Corporate America has bought and paid for a race to the bottom, and the people who are hurt the most would rather be resentful of the people who are actually on their side than the ones who are really screwing them. Wall Street is the enemy, not organized workers trying to fight for a better life.
@NotoTruth You are mistaken. The poor only ever had a worthy wage in the first place due to unions struggle. That much should be clear. Ever heard the phrase together we stand divided we fall. Well its been true of any fight for social progression throughout history., read it for yourself in the history books. Those who stand alone are easy prey. Try to look back beyond the propaganda that as individuals in this nations history the working poor ever got a fair deal, without a unions backing.
@sugarraygras i stand by my statements.sure unions are good for people who are afraid to work hard in a competitive market...and also need some to tell them their value in the market...and need someone they can give a piece of their enflated salary to.yea unions are good for those people.
@NotoTruth Non sense, strong unions lead to higher wages for not just the unionized workers but for the whole labor force, and are one of the few ways that allow the common people to have some influence over what goes on in the country. Pooling their resources in common to aquire more power in the economy and in politics is somethign the wealthy class - smart guys- does systematically: it's called a Corporation.
And in addition to that, they are toroughly unionized nationally and internationally in every sector of the economy- the American Bankers' Association, the National Association of Manufacturers, the World Trade Organization, etc etc etc. - their rate of unionization dwarfs that of any other social group -- they are the smart guys, it's only the idiot other 98% of the population like you and me who are told to believe labor unions are bad ...
and that there exists a mystical free market dreamland out there somewhere that the world will usher in some day, solving all of our problems, if only we don't stir up trouble and are nice to our bosses.
Btw, if it's the labor unions that are responsible for there having crap jobs, why is it that people had much better, more stable jobs that paid more 30 years ago when the rate of unionization was triple what it is now?
@Unity678 Any student of history with eyes open will come to the same opinions as you and your family. It makes me laugh that the people who hate unions so much dont mind to belong to the union that is the british Isles. The two concepts are the same. Are we not taught that it is an honour to fight for our nations freedoms besides our brethren. Then doesnt that include the right to fight for the poor suppressed from within it also?
deathtotheunions, you speak as a proper bosses lackie, just becuase you never had the bottle to stand up to your own fatcat boss, and caved in to increased workloads and poor pay, you fool no one but yourself with ur anti union dribble. modernisation for bosses,no lackies, let them come to the shop floor on their own and try and push there modernisation through, lol. well kill them, and they know it,, thats why they luv fools like you, who take the dollar
The problem is, that most union reps. did MAYBE 1 year on floor in the sectors they represent. They have no clue about the the places they literally control, but if they hear a "complaint" they ASSUME it's the bosses fault, and not the workers (which it often is). Not all bosses are "evil fatcats". If you got promoted would you take it? Bosses are coming from somewhere too, and it's often a realm of more quality & experience. Im not saying we dont need a union, just they are too powerful.
@kaypaxian1 - actually I have been self employed virtually all my working life - but like you care - then again I take it you always support workers cooperatives and never buy from PLCs. Anyway got to go - there are some commies that need whipping - see yaaa.
I mean my family's always worked in the steel industry, and my grandfather went from sweeping floors to foreman of a mill.
But in his 40 years as the unions grew in power so did poorer quality of work, lack of pride, alcohol/drug abuse at work and an over decrease in company morale. Many workers are now loyal to the Union, not the guys who hired/paid them.
Why bust your ass when your ass is covered by a union rep with no mill experience? No wonder companies are leaving for easier pastures.
I think you sum up union power exactly as it is. In the 60s in the UK we got rid of half the railways which was great because those that are left do a great job that the railways can do (commuters, high speed city to city and bulk freight) - whilst the car, small lorries etc do a better job for others - fortunately this happen before the rise of powerful unions otherwise we would now have no railways.
@deathtotheunions would you like to explain that? we have a terrible railway system because it's semi-privatised and doesnt work very well. You can't privatise railways properly because for that to work you'd need several sets of tracks to allow competition. Just look at the massive investment and ridiculous ticket prices.
@Skipissatan Check out rail rover tickets for great value - But I doubt if you give a shit. Also there are a hugh range of ticket prices but you have to use your brain - woops.
Haha Billy Bragg knows fuck all about unions. The union's have effectively destroyed western industry.
There WAS a time and a place for unions, but now they simply have too much power, and have removed all inkling of pride/dedication and company loyalty.
The ones who use the unions are often those who leech off the company. Show up, late, hungover and just dicking around until payday.
Im not saying we don't NEED unions, but they are now too powerful. The bosses now have no voice.
the only people who prosper with thatcherism is the bosses,im not any better off than 20 years ago. the greedy ruthless business world want to push wages down as low as they can, and give there lackies the perks, only anarchy can destroy there greed. lets wreck this place, starting with britain
just had a review saying our track "England Isn't Mine!" sounds like Billy Bragg... if you could have a listen on our videos and let us know what you think we would really appreciate it. thanks

Is it a dumb arguement? Please explain to me why it is a dumb arguement. I must be too dumb to understand. I would have thought that if you are to preach communism and call for more mass immigration you should then live in an area which is receiving the immigrants so that you enjoy the huge benefits that they bring to white working class communities in Britain. Only a nazi fascist racist nazi racist would move from an ethnic enriched area to a mansion in the countryside where there are no blacks
@JBuckley - precisely. If he made money and lived in a slum, they'd criticize him. If he lived in a middle class area, they'd criticize him. If he lived in a palace, yeah same thing.
If you live in the countryside you are be default a racist? What terrible logic. Maybe- just maybe he likes trees and open spaces... dorset still has immigrants- just fewer than london.Which isnt saying much pretty much anywhere in the world is less multicultural than london.

ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz I don't have a problem with markets. I have a problem with unregulated markets because without regulation they screw the little guy every goddamned time. And I think pretty much anybody who does not support the rights of workers to organize themselves for better treatment is a corporate whore.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley you've never seen a truely unregulated market, allowed to play out in full over a decent period of time, the reason the little guy gets screwed is because the authorities side with someone for money and give that someone a leg up, other competitors in the market die out and the privaleged get fat, lazy and uncompetative but because they are paying off the authorities they run a monopoly, the free market busts that wide open and brings competition back into the game.
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz That's the thing about libertarian economics. They work great in the vacuum of theory. But it doesn't take the real world into consideration. That's why we need regulations and unions and other protections for those who can't buy themselves the power to stack the decks in their favor. The fact is that the more things get deregulated, the more the wealth flows to the top directly from the bottom. And your solution would be even less regulation? I reject that.
JBuckley 8 months ago 2
@JBuckley libertarian economics is what brought the usa, the uk, europe from being a dump into our relatively amazing standards of living, as the government gets more involved in the economy surprise surprise the economy starts messing up, btw i dont oppose unions i oppose giving them any special privalege. what makes you think deregulation causes wealth to flow to the top?
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Wow! Just wow. You really don't get it at all. It's the libertarian economics that have allowed working class wages to stagnate as executive wages soar. It's a race to the bottom on labor costs, Wall St vs Main St, class warfare plain and simple. The ruling classes have bought the government to allow this all to happen, though, you guessed it, DEREGULATION. It's so incredibly basic that I am astounded that you refuse to accept it.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley with libertarian economics the government has little influence so even if every part of it was 100% bought out by "the ruling class" it wouldnt make much difference, your making the common mistake of confusing capitalism with corporatism.
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz That's just swapping out public power with private power, and only works well for people in in theory.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley the government comes in only to stop people being coerced by others, to get a thing off an individual a private company has to entice with good services and things people want, it doesnt just make a law under the pretext of saving the children/elderly/whatever and take your money by what at the end of the day is threat of arrest.
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz That would be nice if it actually worked. But it doesn't. Private industry is out to make a profit, and many of the things that we need to keep a healthy, working civilized society are simply not profitable. I'm sorry that you feel that contributing to society makes you a victim of coercion. Hopefully when you get a little older and wiser you'll see the benefit of being a member of a society. Even Ayn Rand took medicaid when she was sick.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley i should think so, seeing as she'd been getting robbed to fund it the rest of her life, it does work too, it took todays developed nations from the third world into what we are today, our poor people are rich beyond beleif in the grand scheme of things, but because its not perfect we get all the marxists completely buggering things up laying waste to our economies with regulation and tax.
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Pure marxism is as ridiculous as pure libertarianism. We don't live in a black and white world. We live in a world with shades of gray. The medium ground is some regulation and tax. What has been laying economies to waste is the race to the bottom on labor costs and a wall st vs main st top down class war.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley and how would that lay waste to an economy? regulation costs money, to be in business you must comply with the regulations, to comply with the regulations you have to spend money, eg a raggedy shop building needs to be done up a heck of a lot to pass H+S regulations, ie to start a business you have to be rich or established already, this means much less competitors in the market, which means much less pressure on the existing companies to provide a good service and wages
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz When you drive down wages, you hurt the consumers who then can afford to buy less stuff, forcing prices further down, forcing wages (but not the executive wages of course) further down, in a vicious cycle of economic destruction. That is also why it continues to get harder and harder for people to start small businesses. It's an unsustainable system. There are winners and losers and these magical mystical markets are not going to fix that. They're a fairy tale.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley and if these regulations werent stifling business startups there would be more job positions available, meaning to get good workers the companies have to have competative wages, if markets are a fairy tale, keynesianism is a stephen king novel
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago
@ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz Again you offer solutions that sound great in the vacuum of theory, but just wouldn't work in the real world. Magical markets that make everything better for everybody sound great. But they would not work, because they assume everybody will just do the right thing. Every push in that direction proves to be a disaster for the majority of people while a few at the top benefit. After every failure the think tanks funded by those few who benefit rush to blame it on anyone else.
JBuckley 8 months ago
@JBuckley no i assume that people will generally act in their own self interest, which, in a society where people only part with their stuff voluntarily, it will be in the interests of the businessman to do the right thing because its the only way people will part with their money, and you can claim its all "the vacuum of theory" all you want but that alone doesnt mean a thing. its like if i just said "you are wrong because you're wrong"
ImEuanAndIGotsSkeelz 8 months ago

@qwertypoiu4321 Unions, when properly managed and facilitated serve a useful function. The problem with them as with certain employers is natural human GREED! It all boils down to money and most humans don't care who they crap on to get more of it. If we spent more time looking out for each other rather no. 1 we'd be a far richer race!
MrSundered 11 months ago
@MrSundered "Unions, when properly managed and facilitated"
I.E. voluntarily.
"serve a useful function."
Yes, currently non-existent voluntary unions find the voluntary, adaptive market wage and make sure workers are getting no less than that.
There is nothing wrong with voluntary greed, demand itself is greed. There is no such thing as abolishing voluntary greed, but abolishing coercion would make society as rich a race as humanly possible.

707Kilroy 1 year ago 2
FreshFruit89 1 year ago
@FreshFruit89. I find it telling that you are blaming the line worker for the decline in the American Auto industry.
I wonder if you also blame the home owners for the downfall of America.
Trade-unions are need in the Western industrial nations now more then ever. The income disparity in America is now the same as it was during the first depression. The richest 1 percent of Americans now take home almost 24 percent of income, up from almost 9 percent in 1976.
But you are right unions did it.
707Kilroy 1 year ago
@707Kilroy Actually, I do blame home owners for the financial crisis. They are equally as responsible as the banks. Home owners who were living beyond their means accepted loans they couldn't pay off and should have known better.
You know why the Japanese auto industry has taken over? They don't have unions in Japan. No one deserves $30/hour to drive a forklift or to weld. You can learn both in a few days. I did. I'm a proud on-union laborer, and i rely on my skill to determine pay, not a union.
FreshFruit89 1 year ago

I am enough of a Darwinist to accept such an outcome on a small group to group scale. Evolution and competion & success & failure are scientific constants. The best that can be achieved is to limit the damage done to the weakest as a result

@NotoTruth Actually, when unions are strong, everybody's wages and benefits go up in order to stay competitive. Corporate America has bought and paid for a race to the bottom, and the people who are hurt the most would rather be resentful of the people who are actually on their side than the ones who are really screwing them. Pooling their resources in common to aquire more power in the economy and in politics is somethign the wealthy class - smart guys- does systematically: it's called a Corporation.
PavedStones 1 year ago 2
And in addition to that, they are toroughly unionized nationally and internationally in every sector of the economy- the American Bankers' Association, the National Association of Manufacturers, the World Trade Organization, etc etc etc. - their rate of unionization dwarfs that of any other social group -- they are the smart guys, it's only the idiot other 98% of the population like you and me who are told to believe labor unions are bad ...

Are we not taught that it is an honour to fight for our nations freedoms besides our brethren. Then doesnt that include the right to fight for the poor suppressed from within it also?

@sugarraygras Q: how many union workers does it take to hold up a shovel?
NotoTruth 1 year ago
@Unity678 hey the people talking shit about the union are eather the boss or the rich. No one in the working class would say anything bad like that

deathtotheunions, you speak as a proper bosses lackie, just becuase you never had the bottle to stand up to your own fatcat boss, and caved in to increased workloads and poor pay, you fool no one but yourself with ur anti union dribble. modernisation for bosses,no lackies, let them come to the shop floor on their own and try and push there modernisation through, lol. well kill them, and they know it,, thats why they luv fools like you, who take the dollar

In the 60s in the UK we got rid of half the railways which was great because those that are left do a great job that the railways can do (commuters, high speed city to city and bulk freight) - whilst the car, small lorries etc do a better job for others - fortunately this happen before the rise of powerful unions otherwise we would now have no railways.
deathtotheunions 1 year ago
@deathtotheunions would you like to explain that? we have a terrible railway system because it's semi-privatised and doesnt work very well. You can't privatise railways properly because for that to work you'd need several sets of tracks to allow competition. Just look at the massive investment and ridiculous ticket prices.
Skipissatan 1 year ago

Billy is a very rich hypocritical wanker who preaches communism and mass immigration but moved away from multi culti hell in London to live in all white Dorset. His excuse, "I had to think about the kids". If you are going to sing shit songs about communism, please make sure your actions reflect the shite you talk. Lefties are mostly hypocritical middle class twats

Dumbest. Argument. Ever.
JBuckley 2 years ago
Is it a dumb arguement? Please explain to me why it is a dumb arguement. I must be too dumb to understand. I would have thought that if you are to preach communism and call for more mass immigration you should then live in an area which is receiving the immigrants so that you enjoy the huge benefits that they bring to white working class communities in Britain. Only a nazi fascist racist nazi racist would move from an ethnic enriched area to a mansion in the countryside where there are no blacks
HRHPrincePhilip1 2 years ago
The guy makes some money and all of a sudden he's an asshole for moving someplace more upscale? Yes, that is an incredibly dumbass argument.
JBuckley 2 years ago
@JBuckley - precisely. If he made money and lived in a slum, they'd criticize him. If he lived in a middle class area, they'd criticize him. If he lived in a palace, yeah same thing.
MrRedFredSaid 1 year ago
If you live in the countryside you are be default a racist? What terrible logic. Maybe- just maybe he likes trees and open spaces... dorset still has immigrants- just fewer than london.Which isnt saying much pretty much anywhere in the world is less multicultural than london.
